Halong Bay - Vietnam

OVERVIEW

Recognized one of the most interesting countries in the world to discover, Vietnam is full of beauties and mysteries. Her landscapes will delight you, her long and often misunderstood history will intrigue you, and her friendly people will inspire you. Most visitors to Vietnam are overwhelmed by the sublime beauty of the country's natural setting: the Red River Delta in the north, the Mekong Delta in the south and almost the entire coastal strip are a patchwork of brilliant green rice paddies tended by women in conical hats. There are some virgin beaches along the coast, while inland there are soaring mountains, some of which are cloaked by dense, misty forests. Vietnam also offers an opportunity to see a country of traditional charm and rare beauty rapidly opening up to the outside world.

CLIMATE

With a multitude of altitudes and latitudes there's always somewhere that is pleasantly sunny and warm if you're prepared to find it. Temperatures are usually hot around the low 30°Cs (high 80°Fs), but if you head north and along the coast they cool down to comfortable temperatures towards January. The weather is determined by two monsoons; the winter monsoon comes from the northeast between October and March bringing wet chilly winters to areas north of Nha Trang, but dry and warm temperatures to the south. From April or May to October, the southwestern monsoon brings warm, humid weather and buckets of rain to the whole country except for those areas sheltered by mountains. THE SOUTH: The dry season is from December to June with March to May being particularly hot and humid. Temperature ranges from 27°C to 36°C. The wet season, with short and heavy rain showers, is from July to November. Temperatures average between 22°C and 27°C. THE NORTH: Unlike the South, North Vietnam has four seasons. Winter is from December to February - it can be extremely cold in Hanoi and the mountainous regions, with overnight temperatures of 4°C and daytime highs between 10°C and 20°C. Thermal clothing is a good idea if trekking in winter. Summer is June to August – expect hot and humid conditions at this time. Temperatures average 27°C to 30°C with high humidity.

WHEN TO GO

Travelers should take the Tet Festival (late January or early February) into account when planning a trip. Travel (including international travel) becomes very difficult, hotels are full and many services close down for at least a week and possibly a lot longer. On the other hand, The Tet Celebration creates a million-dollar chance to take an insight into the traditional side of this country.

WHAT TO DO

Vietnam offers a varying feast for the eyes. Check out tranquil Mui Ne Beach, or the bustling party scene further north in Nha Trang. HANOI - THE CAPITAL CITY

Vietnam's small and pleasant capital lies at the heart of the northern Red River Delta, and is a city of lakes, leafy boulevards and open parks with a French colonial feel. Hanoi was founded in 1010, and became the center of government for the Indochina Union under French rule in 1888. In 1954 it became the official capital of independent Vietnam. Today ancient crumbling buildings dating from the 11th century lie scattered among grand French colonial residences, while shrines and monuments to Vietnam's first president, Ho Chi Minh, sit in the shadow of modern high-rise buildings. The streets of the Old Quarter preserve age-old customs, where trade takes one back half a century, and temples, pagodas and monuments reflect the historic character of Vietnam. Although a city of historical importance, and the social and cultural center of Vietnam, it is a surprisingly modest and charming place, far slower and less developed than Ho Chi Minh City in the south. Hanoi has retained its appealing sense of the old world, despite the onset of a brisk tourism trade in 1993, absorbing the boom of hotels, travelers' hangouts and Internet cafes, and the gradual infiltration of western-style food and fashions into the once inaccessible city. As the early morning mist rises from the serene Hoan Kiem Lake, tracksuit-clad elders perform the slow movements of tai chi, like park statues coming to life. Streets become filled with activity, mopeds and bicycles weave among pedestrians, while cyclo drivers (three-wheeled bicycle taxis) clamour for attention, and postcard vendors cluster around tourists like bees sensing an open honey pot. Hanoi is fast becoming one of the most enticing and interesting cities in Asia. As a cultural center there are traditional water puppet shows, and music and dance performances. It is also a good base for excursions to the beautiful Halong Bay, or into the Hoang Lien Mountains inhabited by several hill tribes.

HO CHI MINH CITY

Ho Chi Minh City, better known by its former name of Saigon, is a brazen, industrious and dense metropolis, the largest city in Vietnam and the business capital of the country. With a population of five million, it is crowded, noisy and dirty, yet it is also exciting and historic, the essence of the nation. Located on the Saigon River on the edge of the Mekong Delta, Saigon became the capital of the Republic of South Vietnam and was the American headquarters during the Vietnam War. Two years later the Communist north took control of the country, the city's name was changed to Ho Chi Minh City, and recession and poverty ensued. Despite its quite recent past, Ho Chi Minh City nevertheless possesses various beautiful buildings, displaying a characteristic combination of Vietnamese, Chinese and European cultures. These include Nha Rong (Dragon House Wharf), Quoc To Temple (National Ancestors Temple), Xa Tay (Municipal Office), Ho Chi Minh Municipal Theatre as well as many pagodas and churches (Vinh Nghiem, Giac Vien, Giac Lam, Phung Son pagodas...). Ho Chi Minh Cityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s nightlife has become very cosmopolitan in recent years and there are literally hundreds of bars, pubs, night clubs and discotheques to pick from for a night on the town. Although overshadowed by modern and Asiatic influences, a little of Ho Chi Minh City's French colonial charm still remains, evident in the graceful architecture, wide boulevards, and a sidewalk cafe society. It is not for the attractions that one visits Ho Chi Minh City however, but for the vibrancy of its street life, and its proximity to the Mekong Delta. Further afield, popular day trips from Ho Chi Minh City include the incredible Cu Chi Tunnels built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long years of struggle for independence and the bizarre Cao Dai Temple at Tay Ninh.

DAY 04: HANOI - HUE

Welcome at the airport and transfer to hotel for check-in and tour-briefing. In the afternoon, an orientation tour of Hanoi, and a chance to acclimate yourself. You’ll have time to enjoy a walking tour of Hanoi’s famous “Old Quarter,” noted for its 36 guild streets. The evening is highlighted with a welcome dinner at a friendly & typical Vietnamese restaurant invited by Little Orient Travel and follow by a performance of the famed Water Puppet Theatre of Hanoi, a traditional art form created by village farmers around the Red River Delta region. Today, we take a very early flight out of Hanoi for Hue – the ancient capital during Nguyen Dynasty and the self-proclaimed intellectual and artistic center of Vietnam. Enjoy a special breakfast in box prepared by a 4* hotel on the way to airport. Upon arrival to Hue our guide and car will take you to visit the Imperial Citadel and Tu Duc Tomb. Return to hotel to refresh and in the afternoon enjoy a leisure trip on the quiet and peaceful Perfume River and a chance to visit Thien Mu Pagoda. Overnight in Hue.

DAY 02: HANOI - HALONG OVERNIGHT CRUISE In the morning we start our exploration day by a ride to Halong Bay, northeast of Hanoi and enter into the Red River Delta, rich with rural beauty and picturesque rice-farming villages. Not just pictures, we can stop for close-up views of buffalos ploughing, women in conical hats scooping their paddies. Once reaching Halong Bay, we board our cruise and set sail for an extraordinary cruise of Halong Bay. Declared as the World Heritage Site twice for its nature beauty and geological by UNESCO, we’ll cruise through its three-thousand islands and rich rock-formations and stop at Ga Choi Island, Dinh Huong Island, Dog Island, Sail Island… You’ll be able to sample the rich seafood served on-board while viewing the islands. Late afternoon we have chance to explore the bay on our kayaks. We’ll close out the day by a romantic dinner and overnight on board.

DAY 03: HALONG BAY - HANOI Wake-up for sun shine and morning coffee then we take a bamboo boat to visit Sung Cot Cave – one of the largest in Halong Bay. We then continue our exploration by the cruise passby the city’s market – Hon Gai and enjoy our last seafood lunch on-board before get back to Halong City. Our car will take us back to Hanoi in the afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 05: HUE - DANANG - HOIAN After breakfast we drive to Danang through Hai Van Pass and visit to the world-famous Cham Museum in Danang, and an introduction to the history and culture of Champa. The we drive 30km to Hoian Town south of Danang. The day will be spent exploring Hoian’s winding streets and centuriesold architecture, which combines Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese influences. Highlighted are the Chinese Assembly Hall, homes of the old merchant families. ancient temples, and the Japanese Bridge. Overnight in Hoian.

DAY 06: HOIAN - DANANG - HO CHI MINH CITY Morning is free at leisure to visit Hoian and do some shopping on your own then at noon we fly to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival there is a city overview tour of the important landmarks: The Central Post Office, The former Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Saigon waterfront, and finally, the excitement of the Cho Lon District (Saigon’s ‘China-town.’) You’ll have ample opportunity to experience the Binh Tay Central Market and the Thien Hau Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 07: HO CHI MINH CITY - VINH LONG DAY TRIP This day we will have chance to sample life in the Mekong River area by a full day trip exploration to Vinh Long. Take a leisurely boat-ride to fruit farms and markets bustling with Delta life. Sample local foods and fruit, and the rich bounty of the Mekong. Afternoon return to Ho Chi Minh City for the night. We’ll continue to the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature, and become acquainted with Viet Nam’s two major religions, Buddhism and Confucianism. We top off the morning by touring the Fine Arts Museum then enjoy lunch at a nice restaurant (on your own). We restart in the afternoon with the Museum of Ethnology where cultures of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups are depicted. We get back to the very heart of Hanoi for a walk around the Lake of the Restored Sword then explore the famous Old Quarter of 36 guild streets by rickshaw. Evening highlight is a performance of the internationally renowned water puppetry theater. Return to hotel and finish the memorable trip. Overnight in Hanoi.

DAY 06: NHA TRANG EXCURSION (B,L,-) Full day experiencing Nha Trang by boat. Cruise to Nha Trang’s exotic islands to indulge in swimming, snorkeling, or a myriad of other activities, and most of all, Nha Trang is famous for its locally produced seafood.

DAY 07: NHA TRANG - DALAT (B,-,-) Drive to the Lang Biang Highland of Da Lat. Enjoy the splendid sceneries along the way to Da Lat. Upon arrival in Da Lat - the “Petit Paris”, you will be transferred to hotel and refresh yourselves. Overnight in Da Lat.

DAY 08: DALAT CITY TOUR (B,-,-) A morning visit to Prenn waterfall en route. Euphemized “The city of Eternal Spring”, Dalat boasts her numerous flower gardens, pine forests, vineyards and colorful markets. Other highlights include the 1930’s Dalat Railway Station, Truc Lam pagoda, the summer palace of the last Emperor of Vietnam and the fascinating Lam Dong Museum. Overnight in Da Lat.

DAY 02: HANOI FULL DAY CITY TOUR - TRAIN TO SAPA Meet your guide at hotel and start a full day city tour of Vietnam’s capital. We’ll see the city’s outstanding historical and cultural sites: President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential homes, the National Assembly area, and an opportunity to learn more about the country’s constitution. The rest of the day is devoted to exploring this exotic region of the Northern Hill Country, visiting the unusual markets, and getting acquainted with the different ethnic hill tribes such as the H’mong, Red Dao, Tay and others. We then talk a short walk out of town for a great vista of Vietnam’s highest mountain range, Fansipan, filled with terraced rice paddies and deep valleys. Enjoy the incredible mountain vista at sunset. Overnight in Sapa.

DAY 05: SAPA - NIGHT TRAIN TO HANOI (B,-,-) If we are in Sapa from Monday to Saturdays, we will take a jeep tour to Silver Waterfall and Heaven’s Gate Pass (the highest Pass in Viet Nam, over 2,000 meters). Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding valley. If this day is a Sunday, we will visit Ba Cha Hill Tribe Market instead. Drive three hours to town of Ba Cha and thrill to the sights at the Ba Cha Market. On this day, the various hill peoples gather in all their finest, most colorful, clothing at one of the biggest market gatherings in Viet Nam’s northern mountain region. This is their special one-day of the week to trade, shop, and socialize. Not to be missed, especially for photographers. In the late afternoon, the night train returns to Hanoi.

DAY 06: HANOI - HALONG BAY OVERNIGHT CRUISE Pick up at Hanoi station, in the morning we start our exploration day by a ride to Halong Bay, northeast of Hanoi and enter into the Red River Delta, rich with rural beauty and picturesque ricefarming villages. Once reaching Halong Bay, we board our cruise and set sail for an extraordinary cruise of Halong Bay. Declared as the World Heritage Site twice for its nature beauty and geological by UNESCO, we’ll cruise through its threethousand islands and rich rockformations and stop at Ga Choi Island, Dinh Huong Island, Dog Island, Sail Island… You’ll be able to sample the rich seafood served on-board while viewing the islands. Late afternoon we have chance to explore the bay on our kayaks. We’ll close out the day by a romantic dinner and overnight on board.

We catch an early flight to Ho Chi Minh City, the biggest and also most dynamic city in Vietnam. Like many locals, we’ll have Pho noodle for lunch on Pasteur Street before heading for the Unification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Saigon Post Office and Cholon, Saigon’s Chinatown. Dinner on your own or our recommendation is at one of Ho Chi Minh City’s best-known restaurants, Vietnam House. The restaurant can be likened to a live book on Southern taste: Lots of herbs, spices, and strongly influenced by gastronomy of Cambodia, Thailand and India. There’s also a wide selection of tropical fruits and vegetables for wow. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 08: HUE FULLDAY CITY TOUR (B,-,-) Leave hotel at 8:30 AM and transfer to the jetty on the Perfume River. There we hop on a light boat and glide upstream to the Thien Mu Pagoda. After the we drive for a while to the Imperial Citadel, the capital seat of the Nguyen Dynasty. The imperial palaces and grounds stretch for full miles. After lunch at a garden restaurant we pay a visit to the eternal residence of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh emperors. The trip ends around 5:00 pm. Overnight in Hue.

DAY 09: HUE - DANANG - HOIAN (B,-,-) Leave Hue mid-morning for a scenic journey passing by vivid green fields of rice and the photogenic fishing village of Lang Co, climbing over the dramatic Pass of Mountain Clouds. Stop off at Danang to visit the famous Non Nuoc Beach, Cham Museum then the sacred Marble Mountains whose caves contain dozens of Buddhist shrines. We drive to Hoian and check in to the hotel. Overnight in Hoian.

DAY 10: HOIAN - MY SON HOLY LAND (B,-,-) Often called the “My Son Holy See”, The My Son complex of intricate Cham Temples once served as one of the Champa Kingdom’s most important places of worship. A 40km drive from Hoian, this daytour provides a unique opportunity to see and gain an understanding of one of the world’s lost cultures – the nation of Champa.

DAY 12: HO CHI MINH CITY - VINH LONG - CAN THO (B,L,-) Meet your guide at hotel and leave Ho Chi Minh City for Vinh Long early in the morning. On arrival at Cai Be, we’ll board a boat to explore the floating market, typical of the Mekong Delta. Continue by boat to Binh Hoa Phuoc Island to visit orchards of tropical fruits and have lunch in the famous Bonsai garden of Mr Sau Giao. After lunch we proceed by boat to Vinh Long Town for proceed to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho.

DAY 13: CAN THO - HO CHI MINH CITY (B,-,-) This early morning, we take a boat ride to the extraordinary river market of Cai Rang. Famous as one of the largest on the complex of waterways that comprise the Mekong Delta, this market provides exotic fruits and vegetables domestically and internationally. The boat tour ends at My Khanh, an authentic Delta village. We return to Ho Chi Minh City after lunch on one of the remaining Danish Ferries to cross the Delta’s river system. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

DAY 07: HOIAN - FROM FARMING TO FISHING (B,L,-) We will depart our hotel after breakfast by bicycle and head out of town to the countryside. We will pass over small narrow roads encountering water buffalo, bamboo bridges, and small ponds full of ducks on our way to the an organic farm. At the farm we will have a chance to learn how the locals work on the farm. Next we will go to the river where we will put our bikes on board and head downstream. Our first stop will be the palm paradise where we will paddle round basket boats through the narrow passageways that were used as a hiding place for the Viet Cong during the American War. Next we will stop and visit with a fisherman who will teach us about fishing with a cast net. We will get to pull in the fish from the boat and then we will learn how to cast on land. After that we will learn about the fishing traps on the river and get to use pull them up and see if we have caught any fish. Later on we go to the fishing village for a fresh seafood lunch at the local restaurant. Afternoon we take a leisure cycling along the Cua Dai beach return to Hoian. Overnight in Hoian.

DAY 08: HOIAN - DANANG - HUE (B,-,-) Today, we drive northward to Hue, and over the coastal route, into some of the most beautiful scenery in Vietnam’s center region. Hue is the self-proclaimed intellectual and artistic center of Vietnam, and we’ll explore Hue’s Nguyen Dynasty by visiting

DAY 10: HANOI FULL DAY CITY TOUR - TRAIN TO SAPA Meet your guide at hotel and start a full day city tour of Vietnam’s capital. We’ll see the city’s outstanding historical and cultural sites: President Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Ba Dinh Square, the Presidential homes. We’ll continue to the One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature, and become acquainted with Vietnam’s two major religions, Buddhism and Confucianism. We top off the morning by touring the Fine Arts Museum then enjoy lunch at a nice restaurant. We restart in the afternoon with the Museum of Ethnology where cultures of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups are depicted. Take a walk around the Lake of the Restored Sword then explore the famous Old Quarter of 36 guild streets by rickshaw. DAY 11: SAPA (B,-,-) Early morning arrival at Lao Cai, then transfer upland to the town of Sapa and hotel check-in. The rest of the day is devoted to exploring this exotic region of the Northern Hill Country, visiting the unusual markets, and getting acquainted with the different ethnic hill tribes such as the H’mong, Red Dao, Tay and others. We then talk a short walk out of town for a great vista of Vietnam’s highest mountain range, Fansipan, filled with terraced rice paddies and deep valleys. Enjoy the incredible mountain vista at sunset. Overnight in Sapa.

DAY 12: SAPA (B,-,-) An entire day to enjoy the natural wonders, or learn more about the varied cultures of the region’s Hill People. We will have ample opportunity to visit different villages of the H’mong, Red Dao, and Tay people in the Muong Hoa Valley. Home visits are included, and be sure to bring our cameras. For many travelers the allure of an unspoilt and little-explored country is irresistible. Emerging from a violent past of human rights atrocities, war and political instability, Cambodia is recovering from its past and slowly becoming a top destination on the South East Asian travel map. The magnificent temples of the 'Lost City' of Angkor are an irresistible attraction that, despite the dangers of unexploded landmines and the threat of rural banditry, is a must-see for any determined traveler. The scenery is beautiful and abundant, shaped by landscapes of lush green forests and jungles, banana plantations, agricultural fields and mighty rivers. People here live modest and simple lifestyles and the populace are largely rural. It is not a place of fast and efficient transport or luxurious hotels and resort living. Infrastructure is basic (much of it having been destroyed) and traveling between destinations can be quite an experience - fun for some and frustrating for others. CLIMATE

Any time of the year is a good time to travel in Cambodia, with each season having its advantages. The climate in Cambodia is generally hot and humid throughout the year. Temperatures stay in the 30's most of the year, dropping back to the 20's at night. As in most tropical areas the rain falls in short, heavy bursts with sunshine following. There are three seasons; November to February is the cooler season, March to June is the hotter season, with temperatures in the low forties, and June to October is the wet season.

WHEN TO GO

The ideal months to be in Cambodia are December and January, when humidity is favorable, temperatures are cooler and it's unlikely to rain. From early February temperatures start to rise until the killer month, April, when temperatures often exceed 40째C (104째F). Come May and June, the southwestern monsoon brings rain and high humidity, cooking up a sweat for all but the hardiest of visitors. The wet season (May-Oct), though very soggy, can be a good time to visit Angkor, as the moats will be full and the foliage lush - but steer clear of the northeast regions during those months, as the going gets pretty tough when the tracks are waterlogged.

WHAT TO DO

To truly experience Cambodia, you need to spend a few weeks traveling around. Natural attractions range from the northeastern jungles, to the lovely beaches of Sihanouk Ville, and the mighty rivers that cut across the country. The country's biggest festival, Bone Om Tuck, is held in early November, and is well worth catching. Others you might like to plan around include the water festival in Phenom Pen, or Khmer New Year.

SIEAM REAP

Siem Reap is small charming gateway town nestled between lovely rice paddies. It serves as the gateway to the millenniumold temple ruins of the Khmer Empire. Today, it is the most important tourist hubs of Cambodia. Despite international influences the people of Siem Reap have been able to conserve much of the town’s image, culture and traditions. The town is located at a distance of 7 km from the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport. It can be reached by direct flight from Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hong Kong, Seoul-Incheon, Pusan, Kunming, Kaohsiung and Taipei. By land Siem Reap can be reached from Phnom Penh and the Thai border. It is also accessible by boat from Phnom Penh. The hall mark of Siem Reap is dance performances, artisans shops, silk farms, countryside rice fields and many small fishing villages. The buildings are mostly colonial and comprise Chinese-style architecture. This is particularly evident in the Old French Quarter and around the Old Market It is here where the ancient people of Khmer constructed one of the greatest monuments. Angkor Wat. DAY 01: WELCOME TO CAMBODIA - ARR. IN PHNOM PENH Arrive Phnom Penh by morning flight, Phnom Penh - the city retains its traditional Khmer and colonial charm. French villas along tree-lined boulevards remind the visitor that the city was once considered the gem of Southeast Asia. Recent political changes have triggered an economic boom of sorts, with new hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs springing up around the city. Firstly, visit to the Royal Palace compound build in 1866 by the Predecessors of King Norodom, is the most conspicuous feature and also one of impressive colorful Khmer-style Palaces. Nearside the Royal Palace is Silver Pagoda (The Emerald Buddha temple), display plenty of Buddha Statues that were decorated and made by diamond, emerald, gold and silver. Travelers will proceed to visit Independence Monument which was constructed in 1954 after Cambodian took their country back from French colony, continuing visit to National Museum, the distinctive red building with a beautiful Khmer architecture was build since 1917 and contains more than 5000 art objects made of sandstone, bronze, silver, copper, wood and others. Snaking rivers, lush jungle, hectic markets and the UNESCO-listed Plain of Jars. Laos' isolation from foreign influence offers travelers an unparalleled glimpse of traditional Southeast Asian life. From the fertile lowlands of the Mekong River valley to the rugged Annamite highlands, Laos is the highlight of Southeast Asia. Enigmatic and relatively undeveloped, Laos bears the dubious distinction of being the most bombed country in history. However, it is gradually emerging from its tumultuous recent history thanks to a combination of foreign aid, a growing ecotourism industry, and its charming, philosophical people.

CLIMATE

Laos is landlocked and lies between Thailand, Myanmar, China, Vietnam and Cambodia. The Mekong River forms the country's western border and the Annamite mountains form its eastern border with Vietnam. The total land area is approximately 237,000 sq km - an area similar to that of the United Kingdom. The main features of the country are its mountains and the Mekong River valley. Laos has a monsoon climate of a dry and a wet season. The dry season lasts from November to May with the cooler period in December and January. At its coldest, the temperatures can fall to as low as 15 deg C. The cold periods tend to be at night and early morning with colder temperatures at higher altitudes. During the hot period of the dry season, between March and May, temperatures can reach the high 30s. The rainy season is a lot cooler, and rainfall varies according to altitude. Generally speaking, the monsoon season produces severe rain that lasts for short periods of time. The wet months vary according to location, in Vientiane, they are from May to September, in Luang Prabang, August is far wetter than any other month.

WHEN TO GO

The best time to visit is between November and February, when it rains least and isn't too hot. This is also the main season for both national and regional bun (festivals). If you're heading up into the mountains, May and July can also be pleasant. Roads can be washed out during rainy season (July to October), but there are plenty of river travel opportunities. Peak tourist months are December to February and during August, although there are relatively few visitors at any time.

WHAT TO DO

While Laos has a reputation for being sleepy and laid-back, it isn’t for a lack of things to do. Laos is a land full of enchantment and charm, it boasts something for nearly every type of traveler; from the person who just wants to drift along the charming Mekong River and enjoy life as it passes slowly, to the adventurer ready to explore remote areas in the countryside. When one is ready to take a break from the temple circuit, there is always a café of sorts to relax and unwind in. At night, travelers of all variety will find something to purchase in the enchanting night markets. Perhaps nature lovers will be happiest in Laos, as the scenery is breathtaking throughout the country. If it’s perplexing and unusual you seek, look no further than the Plain of Jars in Phonsanan where hundreds of enormous jars sit in empty fields.

VIENTIANE

Life in Vientiane, modest capital of Laos, flows along as languidly as does the Mekong River on the banks of which the city is situated. Resembling more a sprawling series of villages than an inter-connected urban metropolis, Vientiane is a sleepy place dotted with a mix of Laotian temples and French colonial buildings, most of them crumbling into decay. Paddy fields still dot the outlying suburbs and even intrude into the city center in places. Downtown is characterized by narrow lanes that run off the main streets, where bakeries sell croissants alongside vendors touting noodle soup and sticky rice. Most of the city's places of interest are concentrated in a small area in the commercial district, easy to explore on foot, between the bamboo and thatched beer gardens on the riverbank and Talaat Sao, the morning market. There are some fine Wats (temples) to visit, like Wat Si Saket, one of the city's oldest, surrounded by a lush tranquil garden. Other grand buildings are the unfinished Patuxai monument, resembling the Arc de Triomphe, and the new Chinese-financed cultural center. The Lao Revolutionary Museum is worth a visit simply because it is a now rare example of a communist propaganda collection, while the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum is dedicated to Laos' post-war leader. Vientiane is a place that demands you slow down and match its languid pace. Walking or riding a bicycle is a great way to explore the central part of town. For those who want to experience the countryside, you can be out of the concrete and into the rice fields within minutes. With less than 300,000 residents in the capital, museums, cultural attractions and entertainment venues are in the minority, with the emphasis here on daily survival and cold beers at sunset overlooking the Mekong. Like most French colonial towns of Indochina, Vientiane has broad, leafy boulevards lined with magnificent colonial mansions in various stages of decay, a handful of Buddhist temples and a relaxed tropical feel.

LUANG PRABANG

Encircled by mountains and charmingly situated at the meeting of the Mekong and Khan rivers, the 'Jewel of the Mekong' conveys an atmosphere of remote serenity and informal splendor. The heart of a thriving kingdom for more than a thousand years, it is today a sleepy mixture of ancient temples, cobbled lanes, interesting back streets, French-Indochinese architecture and ochre-colored colonial buildings. Trees line the streets above the banks of the river where children swim and play, while farmers carefully tend to their tiny, irregular riverside plots of agricultural land. In the mists of dawn, throngs of barefoot orange-robed monks silently make their way from the monasteries to the streets, where locals wait to gain spiritual merit by filling their wooden alms bowls with rice, before disappearing once again into their places of refuge and meditation. Unhurried people drift past stalls of spicy papaya salad, noodles, omelets and fruit drinks. This is the real Lao, a town with a distinctly village-like feel, but endowed with a historical legacy so rich that it has been designated a World Heritage site. The main attractions are its historic temple complexes, with about half of the original Wats, or temples, built before the French arrived, still standing. The most magnificent is Wat Xieng Thong (Golden City Temple). Nearby is the Royal Palace with its golden-spired stupa, now a museum, and Wat Wisunalat, the oldest continually operating temple in the town. Across the river is Mount Phu Si with several temples on its slopes and a monastery on top, a popular spot for its dazzling views of the gilded spires in the town below at sunset. A popular excursion is a scenic boat trip past waterfront villages to the nearby Pak Ou caves, filled with Buddha images. Also worth visiting is the picturesque Khuang Si Falls, a beautiful multi-tiered waterfall tumbling over limestone formations with clear turquoise pools below.

DAY 01: WELCOME TO LAOS - ARRIVE IN LUANG PRABANG Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai; we then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa as well as capture a beautiful view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset. From there, we visit the Night Market, where you can browse a lovely selection of handmade textiles, made by the local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 02; LUANG PRABANG - PAK OU CAVE - KHOUANGSI WATERFALL An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. You will visit the morning Phosi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. AM: After breakfast, we enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. We then board a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a panoramic view of the tranquil countryside as well as an interesting visit to the mysterious of Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at the small village of Ban Xanghai, where the local rice wine is distilled. We return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon, on the way we take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a small village well known for its hand weaving. its hand weaving.

PM: We continue our excursion toward Khouangsi Waterfall, en route, we visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, Hmong Village, Ban Ou, Laoloum Village and Ban Thapene,Khmu Village, then drive to the beautiful Khouangsi Waterfall where you can splash around in theturquoise pools or walk along the forest trails. We return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon andcontinue to Ban Xangkhong, a village well known for silk hand weaving and for traditional Saa Papermaking. We return to the city by late evening to observe the sunset at Wat Phabath. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 03: LUANG PRABANG - VIENTIANE (B,-,-) The National Museum (close Tuesday) at the former Royal Palace, displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. The National Museum and the Central Market are not to be missed. We visit these sights in the morning before catching our flight back to Vientiane. Upon arrival in Vientiane, we see the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop en route to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. We watch the sunset by Mekong Riverside and spend the evening here absorbing the city’s nightlife. Overnight in Vientiane.

DAY 04: DEPARTURE FROM VIENTIANE (B,-,-) After breakfast, we visit the Morning Market and the weaving village of Ban Nong Bouathong (if time permits). The tour ends after your transfer to Wattay airport for departure.

DAY 02: LUANG PRABANG - LAOS SPIRIT ADVENTURE This is a full day trip combining a rafting tour out of town with some sightseeing and an exciting elephant ride to/from Tad Sae Waterfall (or alternative route in dry season). After pick up from your hotel (8:30-9:00 a.m) we proceed to the Adventure and Elephant camp located 15 km out of town in the middle of unspoiled, natural green surroundings. After crossing the small river you will be introduced to our Asian Elephants and venture on a 1hr - 1hr 30 mins enchanting journey through forests, plantations and fields. This activity program will provide you with a breathtaking and unique experience as you make your way through forests and along the Nam Khan River up to the waterfalls of Tad Sae. (In the dry season we ride a village trail) After visiting the waterfall, lunch is served before a relaxing 30 minute rafting tour along the river back to the resort. DAY 05: DON KHONE ISLAND - SURROUNDING 0 KHONE PHAPHENG RESORT After an early breakfast, we explore the local villages of Ban Khone, where you will see an array of relics from the French colonial era and retrace the old colonial past, including old French colonial buildings and the remnants of the first Lao railway with itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s locomotive. We continue discover the 4000 islands area by boat at our leisure to visit the Liphi waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of Lao border to Cambodia, also known as the Samphamith. If we are lucky, we may even see the rare freshwater Irrawaddy Mekong dolphin at Ban Hang Khone. That’s an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence. There is a chance to visit the underground shelters where the revolutionary cadres were living. Leaving Cu Chi we drive back to Ho Chi Minh City and the tour continues to the War Remnants Museum and the central market of Binh Tay and the Thien Hau Pagoda. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City. DAY 03: HO CHI MINH CITY - VINH LONG DAY TRIP Meet your guide at hotel and leave Ho Chi Minh City for Vinh Long early in the morning. On arrival at Cai Be, we’ll board a boat to explore the floating market, typical of the Mekong Delta. Continue by boat to Binh Hoa Phuoc Island to visit orchards of tropical fruits and have lunch in the famous Bonsai garden of Mr Sau Giao. After lunch we proceed by boat to Vinh Long Town for transfer back to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City. DAY 04: HO CHI MINH CITY - DANANG - HOIAN Morning flight to Danang. After a visit to the world-famous Cham Museum in Danang, we’ll drive to Hoian Town, 30 Km. south of Danang. Start from your hotel in Hoian and explore the town’s winding streets and centuries-old architecture, which combines Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese influences. Hoian was a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries whose architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years. Highlights are the Chinese Assembly Hall, homes of the old merchant families, ancient temples, and the Japanese Bridge. Overnight in Hoian.

DAY 05: HOIAN - FROM FARMING TO FISHING We will depart our hotel after breakfast by bicycle and head out of town to the countryside. We will pass over small narrow roads encountering water buffalo, bamboo bridges, and small ponds full of ducks on our way to the an organic farm. At the farm we will have a chance to learn how the locals work on the farm. Next we will go to the river where we will put our bikes on board and head downstream. Later on we go to the fishing village for a fresh seafood lunch at the local restaurant. Afternoon we take a leisure cycling along the Cua Dai beach return to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoian. DAY 06: HOIAN - DANANG - HUE Today, we drive northward to Hue, and over the coastal route, into some of the most beautiful scenery in Viet Nam’s center region. Hue is the self-proclaimed intellectual and artistic center of Vietnam, and we’ll explore Hue’s Nguyen Dynasty by visiting the Imperial Citadel, Ming Mang’s Tomb, and other important sites in Hue. DAY 09: HANOI - HALONG BAY OVERNIGHT CRUISE In the morning, we start our exploration day by a ride to Halong Bay, northeast of Hanoi and enter into the Red River Delta, rich with rural beauty and picturesque rice-farming villages. Not just pictures, we can stop for close-up views of buffalos ploughing, women in conical hats scooping their paddies. Once reaching Halong Bay, we board our cruise and set sail for an extraordinary cruise of Halong Bay. Declared as the World Heritage Site twice for its nature beauty and geological by UNESCO, we’ll cruise through its three-thousand islands and rich rock-formations and stop at Ga Choi Island, Dinh Huong Island, Dog Island, Sail Island… You’ll be able to sample the rich seafood served on-board while viewing the islands. Late afternoon we have chance to explore the bay on our kayaks. We’ll close out the day by a romatic dinner and overnight on board. DAY 10: HALONG BAY - HANOI Wake-up for sun shine and morning coffee then we take a bamboo boat to visit Sung Cot Cave – oneof the largest in Halong Bay. We then continue our exploration by the cruise pass-by the city’s market – Hon Gai and enjoy our last seafood lunch on-board before get back to Halong City. Our car will take us back to Hanoi in the afternoon. Overnight in Hanoi. DAY 11: HANOI - LUANG PRABANG Free until transfer to the airport for flight to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. After a short rest, we visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai; we then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi to explore the sacred, gilded stupa as well as capture a beautiful view of the city and the Mekong River at sunset. From there, we visit the Night Market, where you can

browse a lovely selection of handmade textiles, made by the local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. Overnight in Luang Prabang. DAY 12: LUANG PRABANG - PAK OU CAVE - KHOUANGSI WATERFALL An optional early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. You will visit the morning Phosi Market where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Overnight in Luang Prabang. DAY 13: LUANG PRABANG - VIENTIANE The National Museum (close Tuesday) at the former Royal Palace, displays a lovely collection of the artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. The National Museum and the Central Market are not to be missed. We visit these sights in the morning before catching our flight back to Vientiane. Upon arrival in Vientiane, we see the major sights of the capital; including the oldest Wat Sisaket, the temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to Lao’s national precious heritage, the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop en route to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. We watch the sunset by Mekong Riverside and spend the evening here absorbing the city’s nightlife. Overnight in Vientiane. DAY 14: DEPARTURE FROM VIENTIANE After breakfast, we visit the Morning Market and the weaving village of Ban Nong Bouathong (if time permits). Continue to the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 then leave for Hoian, crossing Hai Van Pass and stopping off at the Museum of Cham Sculptures. Upon arrival in Hoian, explore the town’s winding streets and centuries-old architecture, which combines Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese influences. Hoian was a major Asian trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries whose architecture and relaxed lifestyle has changed little over the years. Highlights are the Chinese Assembly Hall, homes of the old merchant families, ancient temples, and the Japanese Bridge. Overnight in Hoian.

DAY 06: HOIAN – DANANG – HO CHI MINH CITY (B,-,-) Transfer to the airport for short flight to Ho Chi Minh City. A city-overview is provided upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City: The Central Post Office, The former Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Saigon waterfront, and finally, the excitement of the Cho Lon District (Saigon’s China-town). DAY 07: HO CHI MINH CITY – VINH LONG DAY TRIP (B, L,-) Meet your guide at hotel and leave Ho Chi Minh City for Vinh Long early in the morning. On arrival at Cai Be, we’ll board a boat to explore the floating market, typical of the Mekong Delta. Continue by boat to Binh Hoa Phuoc Island to visit orchards of tropical fruits and have lunch in the famous Bonsai garden of Mr Sau Giao. city. Firstly, visit to the Royal Palace compound build in 1866 by the Predecessors of King Norodom, is the most conspicuous feature and also one of impressive colorful Khmer-style Palaces. Nearside the Royal Palace is Silver Pagoda (The Emerald Buddha temple), display plenty of Buddha Statues that were decorated and made by diamond, emerald, gold and silver. Travelers will proceed to visit Independence Monument which was constructed in 1954 after Cambodian took their country back from French colony, continuing visit to National Museum, the distinctive red building with a beautiful Khmer architecture was build since 1917 and contains more than 5000 art objects made of sandstone, bronze, silver, copper, wood and others. Visit the notorious Toul Sleng Museum. In 1975 Toul Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot’s security forces and turned into a prison known as Security Prison 21 (S-21). DAY 09: PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAM (B,-,-) Morning we take flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at airport you are met and transfer to your hotel (upon room availability). Then we start visit: - We continue to visit the fabulous Ta Prohm embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers - Prasat Kravan - with its unique brick sculptures - Srah Srang - The Royal Baths" was once used for ritual bathing - Banteay Kdei (surrounded by four concentric walls). - Visit Eastern Mebon used to be in the middle the waters of the large Oriental Baray that is presently filled with rice-fields - Neak Poan was supposed to be a symbol of the Universe - Preah Khan built in 1191 according to the tradition on a spot where the king fought acrucial battle against the Cham. DAY 10: SIEM REAP - ANDKOR VISITS (B,-,-) Early morning we start witness sunrise over Angkor Wat temple and listening singing birds over theancient land of Angkor area. About 6:45AM we walk to nearby Pagoda and offering food to monks. After monks finished breakfast we start enjoy our breakfast box on the ground floor of pagoda,jasmine tea will be served in the peaceful of pagoda. Visit Kbal Spean, about 49km from Siem Reap Town and it is literally means "The head of the River.” It is one of the rivers in 1000 Lingas that made up of unique Lingas. DAY 11: SIEM REAP - ANGKOR VISITS (B,-,-) We start on our bike and cycle (45 minutes for cycling) to world heritage areas on the roads less travelled. Ride among the jungle passing local village and local shop. It’s a very special and acting day as you will explore some of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. The tour start with the visiting to the famous temple: Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendor. DAY 03: SAIGON - MEKONG DELTA Today, we journey to Vinh Long - the heart of the Mekong Delta. Passing a traditional floating market of Cai Be, we can experience its excitement and then walk through orchards of mangoes, coconuts and bananas. Continuing on, we paddle in a sampan to the beautiful Binh Hoa Phuoc Island and sample some more exotic fruit of the region before driving back to Saigon. Overnight in Saigon.

DAY 04: HO CHI MINH CITY - DANANG - HOIAN Transfer to airport and take a morning flight to Danang. Tour of Danang includes Cham museum, Marble Mountains and China Beach, then we drive some 30km south to Hoi An. The remainder of the day is to explore Hoi An town. We can wander its peaceful narrow streets to see many centuries-old architectures combining influences of many exotic trading community. Late afternoon, travel by sampan on the Thu Bon River or to spend our leisure time on beautiful sandy beach of Cua Dai. Evening at our leisure, a dinner with local food can be a memorable experience.

In the afternoon, we will have tour of town, visiting Wats: Visounalat, known as "the Watermelon Stupa"; the ornate Wat Mai; and Wat Xieng Thong, an exquisite 400 year old royal monastery complex. In late afternoon, we climb Phousi Hill, with its derelict anti aircraft gun and revered shrine, to view the sunset over the Mekong and mountains beyond. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 12: LUANG PRABANG EXPLORATION Early morning we will see long lines of barefoot monks in procession through the streets of Luang Prabang. Afterwards will be an excursion by boat on Mekong river by motorboat to the holy caves Pak Ou, a mystical pilgrimage site above the river. Over the past five centuries, kings, princes, merchants, and peasants have come to the caves to worship, leaving behind more than 3,000 statues of the Buddha. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

DAY 13: LUANG PRABANG EXPLORATION Visit the former King's Palace, now a national museum and the central market. Continuing on, you visit to H'mong and Kh'mu villages, a weaving village and the Khuang Si Falls.

DAY 14: LUANG PRABANG - VIENTIANE Free until transfer to airport for flight to Vientiane. Afternoon visit the museum of victory and the center market. Overnight in Vientiane.

DAY 15: VIENTIANE - PHNOM PENH Early hotel breakfast and drive to airport for flight to Phnom Penh. Free in the evening.

DAY 16: PHNOM PENH Morning city tour: Silver Pagoda, National Museum, Royal Palace, Independent Monument Afternoon tour: Wat Phnom, Central Market and join an hour cruise on Chaktomouk river, windows view on floating villages, fishing boat and beauty of Mekong delta. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

DAY 17: PHNOM PENH - SIEM REAP Early morning, we will take speedboat to Siem Reap. A local guide will meet us at the boat station in Siem Reap. Check in hotel in Siam Reap. Afternoon, we start to explore the ancient Angkor city. We will visit The Southern Gate of Angkor Thom, World Wonder of Angkor Wat Temples and we can watch sunset from Phnom Bakheng Hill in late afternoon. Overnight in Siem Reap.

DAY 18: SIEM REAP Today we will visit Pre Rup, Mebon, Tasom, Neak Poan and Preah Khan Temples. Afternoon, continue visiting to Thommanun, Chaosay Tevoda Temples, Spean Thma (the ancient bridge), Takeo, Famous Ta Prohm, Banteay Kdei Temples, terraces of Sras Srang and Prasat Kravan. Overnight in Siem Reap.

DAY 19: SIEM REAP - DEPARTURE We will have full day exploring the other part of Angkor city: Phimean Akas Temples, Elephants and Leper Kinh Terraces, famous Bayon complex before transfer to airport and check in for the outbound international flight.

Little Orient Travel reserves the right to correct any errors in rates quoted or calculated or any omissions made at any time during your booking. Any verbal quote given is an indication only of the final price and is subject to confirmation. RECEIPT OF DEPOSIT – Receipt of a deposit will be taken as an understanding by Little Orient Travel that the customer has read and agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions set forth in this brochure. BALANCE OF PAYMENT – The final balance of the travel arrangements is due at Little Orient Travel no later than 30 days prior to the departure date . Failure to pay in full by the due date may result in a late payment fee of $30 or cancellation. Bookings made within 30 days of departure will automatically incur the late payment fees if payment is not received by Little Orient Travel within 3 days of booking. Payments by Credit Cards will incur a fee. AIRLINE FUEL SURCHARGES – All packages that are inclusive of flights will be subject to any airline fuel surcharges that may be applied from time to time by the airline and will be in addition to the cost of the tour. These fees cannot be waived. AMENDMENT FEES – The following fees will apply: -Amendment to confirmed and deposited itineraries - $25 per change - Amendments within 30 days of departure $50 per change - Transferring between tours (outside of 60 days) - $100 per person - Transfer fees must be paid at the time of change. Passengers will then have 7 working days to decide which tour they wish to be transferred to; otherwise an instant cancellation will occur. - Transferring between tours (within 60 days) - See ‘cancellation by client’ for applicable fees and details. Reissue of airline tickets - $100 per person (other fees may apply) - Once a booking is confirmed no name transfers are permitted as this will be regarded as a cancellation. 4. 39 days or less prior to departure; 100% of total tour cost In the event of a cancellation, any refunds will be less administration fees including visa, transfer fees and any applicable amendment fees. Regrettably cancellation charges and fees cannot be waived. There can be no exceptions. No refund will be made for any unused portions of the holiday after the departure date. Please note that employees of any overseas company or staff of Little Orient Travel outside Vietnam are not authorised to make any promises or agreements to customers in respect of refunds or any other matters. LATE BOOKINGS – Bookings made less than 30 days prior to arrive from Vietnam will incur a late booking fee of $30, less than 30 days $50. CANCELLATION BY LITTLE ORIENT TRAVEL – Little Orient Travel reserves the right to cancel or vary a tour prior to departure due to insufficient numbers. In such an event alternative guaranteed travel dates will be offered. Should these options not be acceptable Little Orient Travel will refund the full price paid less visa cost. If a tour is cancelled due to unforeseeable circumstances, such as, but not restricted to, severe weather conditions or force majeure, Little Orient Travel will refund all monies except visa cost and any cancellation fees levied by airlines and other third parties. Unforeseeable circumstances such as force majeure, adverse weather, flight rescheduling, hotel overbooking and faults with transportation or road conditions may also have an effect on the tour itinerary after the commencement date. Any decision made in respect of tour services by independent operators to re-route or amend the itinerary due to any of the above or similar circumstances is at the discretion of the tour service provider and Little Orient Travel shall not be liable for any claim whatsoever arising from such events. TRAVEL INSURANCE – It is a condition of joining one of our tours that clients are adequately insured for the full duration of their travel arrangements including cover for illness, injury, death, loss of baggage and personal items, cancellation and curtailment. Little Orient Travel has a right to require a client to produce, at our request a copy of the policy of insurance taken out by the client. HEALTH REQUIREMENTS – All clients are required to familiarise themselves with any health requirements specific to the countries being visited. All clients are given a Medical Information Form with their deposit or quote documents. Clients who are aged 70 years or more, or with a pre-existing condition that affects their fitness to travel, or any medical dietary requirement must complete and return this document with their booking form. All clients should visit their Doctor for these aforementioned purposes, and/or to confirm that they are

physically able to undertake the day-to-day requirements of the tour. Should any ailments either exist at the time of booking, or arise before their departure for Vietnam, the client must inform Little Orient Travel of these by completing a Medical Information Form. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS – A passport with minimum of 6 months validity is required for passengers travelling to all countries in our program. Responsibility for documentation accuracy, passport validity and dispatch of documents rests with the client. Little Orient Travel accepts no responsibility for any failure in this respect. TIPPING – Tipping is a firm and expected element in the Tourism industry today and Indochina is no exception. The nominated tip amount is USD$2 per person per day. RESPONSIBILITY – Little Orient Travel (herewith called the Company) acts as a co-ordinator for all persons taking these tours in the making of all arrangements for transportation sightseeing and hotel accommodation. PROCEDURES FOR LODGING COMPLAINTS OR CLAIMS – Should the customer not be satisfied with any aspect of their arrangements they must immediately inform the guide or National Escort who will endeavour to resolve the issue at the time. If this is not possible and you wish to lodge a complaint or claim this must be done in writing with Little Orient Travel in Vietnam within 30 days of the date of the completion of your Little Orient Travel arrangements. Relevant receipts and substantiating evidence must be attached to the letter of claim. AIRLINES – Airlines featured in this brochure do not by virtue of their endorsement represent themselves either as contracting with any purchaser of a holiday from EMAIL ADDRESSES - By providing an email address on the Booking Form you have agreed to receive emails from Little Orient Travel which may contain marketing, specials and promotional material
