PROJECT 1
Urban Design, Chongqing 2018.5 - 2018.7 Academic Design Studio in Chongqing University Group Work Collaborator: GAO Yiwen, LEI Kangdi Contribution: Concept 40%, Modeling 60%, Drawing 40% Instructor: YANG Zhen
The site once belonged to TieMa (Iron Horse) Industry, the only arm plant in South-west China that produce tanks and other military vehicles. As part of the urban regeneration plan of the government, the factory will be relocated in 2019, and this once forbidden place is about to open to the city. How to re-create an icon for the district to attract tourist, and reduce the side effect like social exclusion and gentrification caused by the regeneration process in these years, are the main topics in the design project.

A skywalk going though a ring-shaped center, bring back the form of the old center plaza.
A rectangular square is placed perpendicular to the axis, emphasizing the location of the original sculpture and enhancing the monumentality.
The new office block imitates the form of the twin towers to make them less abrupt in the surrounding area and creates new tension in between.

PROJECT 2
Renovation of the No.10 Arms Plant, Chongqing 2017.04 - 2017.06 Design Studio in Chongqing University Independent Work Instructor: YANG Zhenjing
The factory buildings of No.10 Arms Plant, Chongqing has been abandoned since 2013. Built in the 1960s, the two buildings are now listed as "Cultural Relics Protection Unit", indicating the structure should remain as much as possible in the process of renovation. The project was based on a previous cultural park design project in which the factory building was going to be an information center with a professional category, including library collection, reading, electronic information inquiry, multimedia display, printing production, and other functions. In order to keep the structure and activate the interior space, a stair system was put into the large space of the factory building, linking all the functions and providing people a way of exploring the abandoned building without any limit.

PROJECT 3 Complex, Singapore
2017.10-2017.12 Urban Design Studio in National University of Singapore Independent Work Instructor: Rudi STOUFFS
The economic forces are threatening the favorable urban mix-use structures that have almost disappeared from downtown Singapore. The project attempted to find a possibility of mixed development and envision how the future industry, commerce, education, and their relationship will be reflected in urban form and typology in next decades. After a parametric process generating a new urban form that had the best function, the detailed block design focused on how to serve the future life practically and enhancing the opportunity for public life, creating a more livable urban area. Rather than a sci-fi fantasy, this project attempts to improve the publicity of high-rise buildings in a practical way, making the vertical space of the building also part of the public area, providing more accessibility and connectivity to the city. At the same time, the project explored the relationship between future life and architecture, trying to offer a typology of high rises for future urban life in the next decade.

New Traffic Policy Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced it would cut its permitted vehicle growth rate from 0.25% per year to 0%. The government said the move, which will be reviewed in 2020, was due to land scarcity and billions of dollars in planned public transit ventures. --- Reuters
Waste Treatment In 2017, 7.70 million tonnes of solid waste was generated, a decrease of 110,000 tonnes from 7.81 million tonnes in 2016. The amount of waste recycled also fell by 50,000 tonnes from 4.77 million tonnes in 2016 to 4.72 million tonnes in 2017. --- National Environment Agency, Singapore

PROJECT 4
Renovation of La Mothe Chandeniers, France 2018.12 Young Architects Competition - Common Ruins Group Work Collaborator: HUANG Yusheng, LIU Yumeng Contribution: Concept 40%, Modeling 90%, Drawing 40% Instructor: Manus LEUNG
Located in France’s most famous valley, the castle of la Mothe Chandeniers is a uniquely romantic landmark, stunningly crafted, shrouded in mystery and spectacularly taken over by nature. Throughout its history, its halls have witnessed decadent feasts, silent abandonment, ambitious reconstruction works, a tragic fire and, more recently, an unlikely collection of guardians. Embedded in the calm waters of Mothe Chandeniers’ castle, the newly inserted 300m long structure serves to connect the castle with its surrounding nature. Without removing any existing trees or structures, the design is a sequence of outdoor and semi-indoor gathering spaces, with a strong vertical and horizontal spatial experience that has a close reference to the castle’s towers and bridges respectively.

What is a castle? The arial of the ruin tells the obious answer: a series of towers linked together. The towers, as iconic elements of the romanistic castle, is essentially space of verticality.

Contemporary Ruins A sequence of outdoor and semi-indoor gathering spaces, with a strong vertical and horizontal spatial experience that has a close reference to the castle’s towers and bridges respectively.
Dramatic Interior Sunlight Each of the towers frame the sky in their own unique shape and size to allow for various light and spatial quality to take place.
Enhancing Mystery Seen from a distance, the scattered towers appear as a contemporary ruin among the existing overgrown trees. Overtime, the newly built will age and become even more camouflaged among the trees. Nature completes the design of mankind by taking space back according to its own pace.
