The Steven S. Hornstein Center for Policy, Polling, and Analysis conducts independent polling, empirical research, and analysis on a wide range of public issues. Our studies inform the public and policy makers about critical issues, attitudes, and trends shaping the world.

School of Computer Science, Innovation, and Management Engineering

One of the first computer science programs in the region, our faculty and alumni are pioneers in the profession, including CIO’s at Fortune 500 companies and founders of leading data and technology firms. In our startup incubator, Computer Science students collaborate with a multi-talented team of entrepreneurs to build and launch successful small businesses. Through the innovative Long Island Cyber College Partnership, LIU Post is leading the region in training cyber-security experts for an increasingly crucial and forward-thinking industry. Employment in top computer science jobs is expected to grow as much as 17 percent by 2024, making specialized training and a degree in the field exponentially more valuable.

MS in Family Nurse Practitioner LIU Post’s Family Nurse Practitioner program prepares graduate students to serve as autonomous practitioners. Students learn to diagnose, treat, and prescribe for conditions affecting pediatric, adult, and women’s health populations as they earn a Master of Science degree and qualify for licensure by New York State. 10

Abundant laboratory facilities are available for students pursuing degrees in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, including a modern Forensic Science laboratory.

LIU Post’s School of Health Professions and Nursing’s nutrition program was rated one of the top three nutrition programs in NYC.

Experience in a clinical setting is integral to all LIU health programs. Nursing students apply didactic and simulation training in rotations at more than 250 affiliated clinical partner organizations across Long Island and the New York Metro area.

Virtual Lab

Students have virtual access to a full array of health information management technologies, including, but not limited to, a Master Patient Index (MPI), an encoder, an abstracting system, an electronic document management system (EDMS), deficiency analysis, chart tracking, and registration/ADT system. LIU Post Master of Social Work graduates achieved a 92 percent licensing exam pass rate in 2015, leading all regional programs and posting the second highest pass rate in New York. liu.edu/apply

100 percent of graduates of the MA in Speech-Language Pathology program secured employment in roles where they are providing specialized therapy or rehabilitation services for the millions of Americans who suffer from some form of speech, language, or hearing disorder. 12

Palmer School of Library and Information Science Dr. Gregory S. Hunter Dr. Gregory S. Hunter is a Certified Archivist and Certified Records Manager, was the founding president of the Academy of Certified Archivists, manager of corporate records at ITT World Headquarters, and director of Archival Programs at the United Negro College Fund, Inc. A Librarian of the Year Winner Siobhan A. Reardon (M.L.S. Palmer School of Library Science ‘05) earned Library Journal’s 2015 Librarian of the Year award. Reardon is the president and director of the Free Library of Philadelphia, the first woman to serve in this capacity.

Program Highlights The diagnostic and therapeutic value of painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture is explored indepth within this clinical and diagnostic curriculum. Students focus on children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities in art therapy clinical classes that utilize the latest research findings, theories and techniques.

Prominent Clinical Affiliations The College of Veterinary Medicine maintains strong partnerships with prominent hospitals in the Greater New York area and across the country, creating extensive experiential learning and networking opportunities for students. These affiliations allow for collaborative efforts in both research and medical practice.

Experiential Learning in Veterinary Sciences Students in the College of Veterinary Medicine gain hands on experience with small and large animals as early as their first semester in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
