The doctoral program in Clinical Psychology was recognized with a National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) award for Innovation in Professional Psychology Education.


Faculty Highlights Dr. Joan Digby is the director of the Honors College at LIU Post and former president of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Dr. Thomas Fahy, Director of American Studies, published two books examining popular culture: The Writing Dead, exploring the art of television horror writing; and Understanding Truman Capote, which offers a new perspective on the author’s work. Steve Israel is a former Congressman and current Chairman of LIU’s Global Institute and Distinguished Writer-InResidence.

Dr. Steven Liebling was awarded the Buchalter Cosmology Prize for co-authoring “Simulating the Universe(s): from Cosmic Bubble Collisions to Cosmological Observables with Numerical Relativity.” Dr. Harvey Kushner is an internationally renowned expert on Homeland Security and Criminal Justice. Dr. Corbett Redden was named the principal investigator for the Long Island Mathematics and Teacher Education Scholarship Program grant from the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Scott Santagata is an evolutionary biologist, published author, and recipient of multiple NSF grants, studying the biology of a wide-variety of organisms. Dr. William Schutt is a renowned author and research associate in residence at American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan. Dr. Molly Tambor received the National Endowment for the Humanities award.

The Steven S. Hornstein Center for Policy, Polling, and Analysis was made possible through a generous endowed gift from Steven S. Hornstein ‘80. The center conducts independent polling, empirical research, and analysis on a wide range of public issues. Our studies inform the public and policy makers about critical issues, attitudes, and trends shaping the world. Under the leadership of Dr. Stanley B. MS in Family Nurse Practitioner LIU Post’s Family Nurse Practitioner program prepares graduate students to serve as autonomous practitioners. Students learn to diagnose, treat, and prescribe for conditions affecting pediatric, adult, and women’s health populations as they earn a Master of Science degree and qualify for licensure by New York State.


Accomplished Faculty Dr. Marc Fink, assistant professor of Biomedical Sciences, published “Altered Transcriptional Control Networks with Trans-Differentiation of Isogenic Mutant KRas NSCLC Models,” in Frontiers in Oncology.

Hands-On Experience Abundant laboratory facilities are available for students pursuing degrees in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, including a modern Forensic Science laboratory.

Virtual Lab Students have virtual access to a full array of health information management technologies, including, but not limited to, a Master Patient Index (MPI), an encoder, an abstracting system, an electronic document management system (EDMS), deficiency analysis, chart tracking, and registration/ADT system. LIU Post Master of Social Work graduates achieved a 92 percent licensing exam pass rate in 2015, leading all regional programs and posting the second highest pass rate in New York. liu.edu/apply

Dr. Azad Gucwa, assistant professor of Biomedical Sciences, published “UIM domain-dependent recruitment of the endocytic adaptor protein Eps15 to ubiquitin-enriched endosomes,” in BMC Cell Biology. Dr. Kathy Isoldi, assistant professor of Nutrition, published two articles, “Policy Regulation of Classroom Celebrations: Parental Perspectives” in Health Behavior & Policy Review (2014), and “Cooking Up Energy: Response to a Youth-Focused After-school Cooking and Nutrition Education Program” in Topics in Clinical Nutrition. For the second consecutive year, 100 percent of graduates of the MA in SpeechLanguage Pathology program secured employment in roles where they are providing specialized therapy or rehabilitation services for the millions of Americans who suffer from some form of speech, language, or hearing disorder.

Advancement in Education The College of Education, Information and Technology is the top producer of school administrators in the New York region. LIU places more than 500 students each year in student teaching positions with 60 partner school districts in the New York metro area.


Palmer School of Library and Information Science Dr. Gregory S. Hunter Dr. Gregory S. Hunter is a Certified Archivist and Certified Records Manager, was the founding president of the Academy of Certified Archivists, manager of corporate records at ITT World Headquarters, and director of Archival Programs at the United Negro College Fund, Inc. Librarian of the Year Siobhan A. Reardon (M.L.S. Palmer School of Library Science ‘05) earned Library Journal’s 2015 Librarian of the Year award. Reardon is the president and director of the Free Library of Philadelphia, the first woman to serve in this capacity.
