The objective of the project is to provide innovative play infrastructure for children in Savannakhet, Laos for the purpose of getting more children to attend school and be educated. In a culture that gender gaps are evident, unfortunately woman are commonly more involved in households chaos. They have lower literacy rates than men, and girls have lower school access and completion rates. Acknowledging the local context, the project strive to contribute its part to be in the from Savannakhet to receive the education they long missed. Updating school grounds to allow play opportunities for local children despite their gender roles is just one small step towards getting children to school and supporting their needs to play and socialize. Hopefully play woud also become intergrated as part of their learning of school, play facilities they get introduced to. local constraints and cost considerations require the design to be thoughtful about the material and construction of the play structure. Lao’s infrastructure is elementary, acess to electricity is not a viable option in Savannakhet. Main considerations include designing a funds can be distributed towards the project; the design needs to be easy to assemble without the use of electricity powered tools.

The outcome play structure simulates the signature topography and river system of the province that aims to arouse a sense of identity and belonging in the local community. Locally sourced bamboos are used to establish a low costing natural play environment. The entire assembling process does not require electronic tools, the structure is stable with ropes tieing each intersecting columns of bamboo. The kit-of-parts theory is applied across the entire design process. The basic A-frame structure is easy to be moved and arranged in a variety of ways suiting different scenarios. It can also be adjusted and transformed into different scales if needed, providing opportunities for children from a wide age groups to have play facilities tailored to their changing abilities and needs through their years of future growth. experiences for children. These carefully designed components not only focus on enhancing their physical skills, but also encouraging interaction and communication among individuals.

The project focus on bringing better air circulation and comfort into the neighbourhood for people live in Ho chi Minh city, Vietnam. The local sceanario is explored through data when we arrived in Ho chi Minh city and carried out the analysis of wind, humidity and temperature using data collected on site, together with our individual bodily experience of walking the site and feeling the changing in comfort level. Places that need the most attention is then selected as sites of focus to explore possible remedies.

Vietnam sits in a tropical wet and dry climate, people experience high temperature all year around. The average temperature ranges annually from 22ºC to 27ºC. It is also home to 7.43 million registered motorbikes. Every day in the city, around 5 million vehicles circulating along the main road of 500 sq. kilometer of the city. Critical concentrations of pollutants have been detected in peak hours. Many industrial, handicraft and manufacturing facilities in the city do not equip dust and emission treatment systems, Therefore, it is crucial for the city to come up with solutions that be able to eliminate the out of the streets quicker while respect people’s culture, lifestyle and daily routine, such as their love and passion for street food and night market. Being in a group of 9, separate roles are given to each member of the group, exploring three major aspects : occupation, building form and material qualities in heat reduction and pollution control. My focus is on targeting the cause and impact of air pollution on qualities. The research starts with noting down the contrast between urban and suburban areas along the north transect, identifying the issues and gaps which informs the solution of using a combination of methods include: creating natural ventilation and radiative cooling, using materials with thermal mass storage and vegetation that able to provide passive shading and block pollutants effectively.

MATERIAL IMPLEMENTION AND VISUALIZATION
The intension of the project is to create a walking network for the rising aged population in Arden. As in most developed countries, Australian population is ageing. By 2050, 25%, which means a quarter of Australia’s population would be aged 65 yrs old and over. Research has also shown adults aged 65-84 contribute 45% of burden due to overweight and obesity, in Adults aged 85 +, the impact is mainly due to burden from cardiovascular conditions, dementia and diabetes. Physical activities is therefore important for the prevention of these diseases. Getting people to walk in their industrialized neighbourhood may seem like a job that has nothing to do with designers, everyone would pick a scenic road in a park full of greenery or indulge in the sunset by the beach over their own neighbourhood when it comes to walking choices. However, the neighhourhood may be the only and the most accessible choice for elders in the neighbourhood, so it is crucial for designers to address their concern. After identifying the existing and future best routes for walking, avoiding parts of the road with great slopes that would pose challenges for people, the major focus of the project is on getting people interested in walking through the act of engaging people with art and food places to spot on the road. Walking may become less burdonsone if there are opportunities to visit somewhere else before heading back to the sole destination of home. A collection of public artworks are created as points of interest and food places are highlighted to be shortstops throughout the entire Arden to activate underused areas of the precinct for walking.
walk into arden 2050 UNDERGRADUATE YR3_Individual work
Allowing people to engage more with one another also contributes hugely to making the walk fun. Activity corridors are inserted into the city grid to provide opportunities for people all ages to engage with all sorts of infraustructure and pop-up events, forming a sense of community for the nearby residents while attracting a broader network of likeminded people to come and explore local gems. Following up, a smart walking system would be established and accessed at multiple meeting points on the network. Display screens would be installed to feature all the shopping and dining destinations, locations of public art and suggest walking trails in different length of time for people. The suggested route will be able to be in sync with personal devices to create a guided walking map. The inspiration behind the design intervention came from engagement with an elderly walking group in Elsternwick park called Selwood Striders. People in the group all have built strong connections with each other thtough writing greeting cards to each other, asking about each other’s life. The leader of the group checks everyone on their health condition. There is a strong sense of community that encourages the elders to come to every session of the walk and keep in touch with one another, and this connection certainly inspired the entire project to focus on enhancing connectedness between people.

the year of 1978, is the third iteration of the architect Esmond Dorney’s own home. The goundbreaking structure and interior of the house has made the building one of the well-known representations of modernist architecture in Hobart. People are drawn to the stunning view of River Derwent that Dorney House offers, yet the land carries more intangible historic narratives that await visitors to tap into, beyond the open view.

the lense of the Sam Carey’s research on supporting the theory of continential shift, that before only existed in historic archives and museums. Two sites of focus that inspired the development of the landscape interventions are coastal combat (the fear of attack from foreign millitary vessels made people kept River Derwent on watch 24/7) and the history of the site being the testing ground of Sam Carey. Both landscapes are curated with the intention of stimulating emotions from the audience that be able to bring them back to a particular timeframe in history, or echo with a part of them that enable them to read and interpret landscapes from a whole new perspective. Audiences are invited to take part in the process of feeling the complex emotions associated with historic events through walking the site, along the central broadwalk that provides easy access to the set of historic relics and design interventions located across the site. The act of awenkening forgotten narratives and linking fragemnts of history would enable the audiences to establish a deeper understanding of the historic context of the place, and learn to appreciate the peace, knowledge and connectedness of humankind we share between one another that all built upon the end of WWII.

At the first encounter, this space appears to be the most overwhelming to me. The site has great significance in a cultural and historical sense, and it is no doubt among one of the bold characteristics and stories raised on site. Yet it seems to be forgotten and stands on the same ground with domestic trash and a field of randomly grown exotic plants. The link between objects that used to belong together are now lost, resulting in a story missing pages, further make the site hard to grasp for people whom lacked the background knowledge.

The water tank placed at the most central high point became my subject of interest. Being adapted of the transformation between the old and the new. It is fascinating to note down the complex configuration of landforms and level change. It creates the illusion of the water tank disappearing when observed at one angle and then becomes visible again when looked at from the opposite end. The space also became revealed when there is human presence. Rock Stool

Esmond talked about the notion of house as a machine for seeing, how through a modern, minimalist and thoughtful design, view is maximized by opening up the dialogue between the inside and outside, the ground and the sky, capturing stillness and movement. During the stay I became more certain on the idea that when moving through a space, the surrounding are more likely to feel like a image in still, the sort of blurred vision you would normally get as passengers boarding a fast speed train. However, only when seated or paused in space, our senses are opened up for responses, we became more aware of the surroundings, therefore noticing the subtle changes and be able to create notable moments when the environment respond to light, wind, rain, storm and all other natural elements, with us being part of it. I love how the space came alive through level change, with choices left for individual to pick their spot, or defining their way of passing through the space, both as a collective and when in solitude.
SAM CAREY
The collection of material utilized, removed sense of physical enclosure, yet provided an inviting space shield us from the afternoon heat and howling wind. The Journey of walking the ground, as well as following the slope and marked path to finally arrive at the House, gives a inspiring example of how a place is shaped through the act of seeing and experiencing from a range of locations and distances, which made the house appear more grand and breathtaking when stepped inside. The balance between unseen to slowly unfolding, then revealed is well at play.

WWII made Tasmania more keenly aware of its geographical isolation, but it was also more insulated from the war's impact than most other parts of Australia. The sense of vulnerability to attack from sea-borne forces was increased when enemy mines were found near the River Derwent entrance, when the sinking of a ship temporarily closed Bass Strait to shipping in November 1940, but particularly when HMAS Sydney was sunk off the Western Australian coast in 1941, and a Japanese submarine launched seaplane flew a reconnaissance mission over the Hobart area in March 1942.

MOTIONS OF THE LAND AND OCEAN Plate tectonics refers to the movement of the rigid plates around the surface of Earth. The outer portion of the planet, or lithosphere, is relatively rigid because it is relatively cold. The lithosphere varies in thickness but is typically a hundred or so kilometers thick. It includes the upper mantle and both the continental and oceanic crust. The mantle (molten rock)’s convective motions break the lithosphere into plates and move them around the surface of the planet. These plates may move away from, move by, or collide with each other. This process forms ocean basins, shifts continents, and pushes up mountains. Based on observations of the rates at which the surface of Earth moves, geologists estimate the mantle convectively flows at rates of several centimeters a year.
