IT'S SHOW TIME
The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show is back with a bang and this year is bigger and better than ever!
Attracting more than 20,000 visitors each year, the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show just gets better every year and 2023 is no exception.
A perfect day out for all the family, tickets are now on sale at the same price as last year making this a great-value event that is packed with fun!
With the stunning Salesbury Hall Estate as the event’s rural backdrop, set by the River Ribble, the Royal Lancashire Show is one of the oldest agricultural shows in the country, having been established in 1767.
Fast forward to the 21st century and there are showstopping exhibits, thrilling demonstrations and numerous artisan food and drink opportunities.
This year, organisers are thrilled to be welcoming back the much-loved heavy horses – classes will take place in the Countryside Arena and will include the magnificent Clydesdale, that served in the First World War. Other breeds include the Suffolk Punch, originally bred for ploughing and pulling guns, the Percheron which originates from Le Perche in the Normandy region of France, the Belgium Draft and the Ardennes, one of the oldest breeds.
There will be top show jumping and once again Thwaites will be bringing their shire horses to the event. There will also be a Shetland Pony Grand National – always a lively and fun event!
With plenty of other equally impressive animals and livestock on show, the showground will also host demonstrations of fishing, dry stone walling and beekeeping. Also, there will be a larger British Army turnout this year. A Warrior armoured vehicle will be on display, as well as a military kitchen with army chefs cooking out in the field. The Tigers Army Parachute Display Team will be parachuting into the Salesbury Showground on the Saturday.
The Children’s Village will this year feature Punch & Judy, archery, a disco, wood skills, STEM skills and plenty of arts and crafts.
In the Countryside Marquee visitors can find a host of first-class, luxury retailers that operate within the Ribble Valley and there will be lots of locally produced artisan food and drink to sample in various marquees.
Again, there will be a Members’ Marquee and a VIP/Sponsors’ Marquee where a buffet lunch will be served with bar facilities.
Show Chairman Colin Mustoe, says:
“The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show provides a fantastic and affordable day out for all the family – not surprisingly ticket sales are going extremely well.”
