Broken Crayons Still Color…

EDITOR'S LETTER

Many times what we see as our biggest regrets, failures and mistakes become what the Universe uses the most in our lives. The Universe is able to transform our brokenness into something more beautiful than we can even imagine. It takes our mess and creates a masterpiece. You see, broken crayons still color. Welcome Readers! My name is Amy McNish, I am the Editor-in-Chief of this lovely publication. Live In Color Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine which offers a colorful perspective of fashion and creative design; while emphasizing the colorful lifestyle of the everyday entrepreneur. As well as, focusing on the bright and bold fashion editorials that will inspire the paths of so many men and women; influencing them on how to dress and ‘Live In Color’ My goal is to help individuals and organizations to harness the profound psychological influence of color on the human responses and behaviors. There is no doubt that the colors you wear will have a powerful effect on how you feel and crucially how others respond to you.

So, What’s Your Favorite Color?

My favorite color is GREEN!... Green is an emotionally positive color, giving us the ability to love and nurture ourselves and others unconditionally. The color green relates to balance and harmony. From a color psychology perspective, it is the great balancer of the heart and the emotions, creating equilibrium between the head and the heart. Green also promotes love of family, friends, pets and the home. It is the color of the garden lover, the home lover and the good host. And this shows how I truly ‘Live In Color!’ As I embrace the start of this amazing magazine, I stand humbled by the support I’ve received from my family, friends, clients, sponsors, partners and loyal fans. That support has truly been the basis of creating this rewarding magazine. Thank you to Mr. Joe Blasco, founder of Joe Blasco Cosmetics, for believing in me and my vision and assisting with the production of this magazine. I also thank my social media audience who participates with me and everyone that has given their valuable time, effort and creativity. Thank you, Jeremiah Nehsahn, Videographer for creating such amazing visual memories for the production of the magazine. Lastly, but not least I want to sincerely, say Thank You to Raphael Siemin the Editorial Photography Director, and Joey Bandoo, the Creative Graphics Director. The loyalty and patience you two have given me goes beyond words, and I will be forever grateful. Always,

Amy M.

TORI KNOX

What is your favorite color, and why?

Tiffany Blue is my favor color, because of the Freshness it give off to any object it touches. It’s also clean, vibrate and it gives you a taste of spring all year round. My name is Tori Knox, the industries I represent are beauty and education. These industries appealed to me because of the power to transform and evolve women lives. The Beauty industry helps bring confidence, advancement and prosperity, to those women who find it difficult to accept their God given qualities. The Educational industry helps women to learn their abilities and unique expressions to share globally. The obstacles I encountered were lack of support from those who were closest to me, financial stability, and locating my market. I overcame these obstacles by educating myself in my industry, leveraging resources by partnering with pillars and peers globally. I learn to trust my instincts, have fun, stay positive and be consistent. Myself, team members and recipients were changed by this experience by building a better and stronger network through improving our connection with our business community. We created networking events with unique themes to build interest with our target market. It was fun and brought great momentum to our cause and mission. We’re GRATEFUL!!!

TROY CLINTON What is your favorite color, and why? My favorite color is gray! It is a color that is perfect for any season and It’s a neutral color that looks great with almost any other color. Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? I am Troy Clinton, I am a father, Son, Brother, Friend, Black Man, and Entrepreneur. I am the founder of Troy Clinton Styles, LLC; which is my consultancy firm where I provide Wardrobe consulting and styling, as well as image styling, wardrobe and closet assessments. I also work on photography and video sets, co-organize photoshoots, fashion shows and so much more! I have been intrigued with fashion since his adolescent years. Working in the retail industry only fostered and enhanced my pursuit in fashion. After relocating to Atlanta in 93’, I dabbled in visual and merchandising design, retail merchandise purchasing and coordinating fashion shows. Whether it’s personal shopping or image consulting for housewives and high profile professionals or wardrobe styling his celebrity clients for red carpet events, special appearances and photo shoots I am blessed to have an eye and a passion for it all. What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges?

In reference to challenges in building my business and brand, like any entrepreneur, some challenges I dealt with were the initial hustle and grind to get my name out there, feelings of being overwhelmed, building my clientele and building a solid, reliable team. How well did your response deal with the challenges? Whenever I get to a place of feeling overwhelmed or disconnected or feeling I can’t overcome, I go to God. I pray, I meditate, I ask for guidance and strength. I know my path and what God has for me, and I cannot allow any challenges to keep me off course. What did you learn? I learned that through God, the spirit of resilience and the determination to succeed and live abundantly, all things are possible. How were you and others changed by this experience? I grow from these situations in my faith and in my tenacity to be the very best I can be. I have been told that my life and my drive inspires those I work with and those that follow me thru social media.

BRITTANY GARTH WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR, AND WHY? I have been told, that I am the queen of PINK! As a life coach, I have been able to work with so many amazing women with different backgrounds and cultures who all have the goal of being happy and successful. It’s an amazing feeling to play a part in helping my client’s to achieve their personal goals of success. What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? As a business owner I quickly learned that if I wanted to grow my business I would have to think BIG and learn to not be afraid of the word “no”! When I first started my business 3 years ago, I did not have any experience in entrepreneurship and had less than $6 to my name to invest in my dream. The day I decided to launch my business, I was facing homelessness after working for a company that could no longer afford to pay me for several months. I was devastated but knew I had to make a decision to create a business that I was passionate about. Despite my lack of knowledge in the beginning, I invested a lot of my time in learning how to create opportunities for myself, which inturn led me to making 6 figures by my second year in business. How well did your response deal with the challenges? I was committed to succeeding despite my challenges. I knew what it was like to struggle and to be unhappy within my career and that motivated me to never give up on my goals. What did you learn? I learned that difficulty and challenges are not an excuse to quit. How were you and others changed by this experience? I have changed greatly by looking to learn something of value from challenges instead of being defeated my them. I hope that others have been changed by my experience by also learning to never give up on their dreams by uncovering their passion in life.

Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? I’m Tim Johnson, known for my hair, fashion, and beauty, prowess, and I’m the owner of the Tim Johnson International Hair Salon in Raleigh, North Carolina, and I’ve been a formidable force in the beauty industry for 29 years. This industry is everything to me and has always been apart of my internal fiber. My slogan has always been, “Image Is Absolutely Everything”. I absolutely love making people feel and look good. Mind, body & Soul. This industry appealed to me by way of self discovery. I was and have always been a very talented and creative person but I had no idea of what my purpose and destiny was. I discovered in my freshman year in college that I had a natural talent and gift with my hands. Never did I ever think or desired to do

KARA CHIN What is your favorite color and why? My favorite color is green. I have been very attracted to this color and its many shades. Descendent of the Island if Jamaica and born and raised in suburbs of Long Island, NY, I grew up around greenery. I later learned that green is the color of life and growth, which caused me to be even more attached to the color and the energy that it transmits. Who are you? What is your industry? Why does this industry appeal to you? My name is Kara Chin and I am a mother, a spiritual woman, and a creative. I studied political science at Spelman College and went on to pursue a master’s degree in public policy. Upon the birth of my only child, Ayden Kile, I gave up my political aspirations in order to pursue my underlying passions in fashion. In the course of my career aspirations, I have worked in the spirits industry as a brand ambassador for several fortune 500 corporations, a fashion blogger, wardrobe stylist, costume director, ecommerce boutique co-owner and apparel brand designer. I am an innate creative with a plethora of skills gained by my experiences. My experiences are the end result of my god given and learned talents. I am attracted to my industry because of the self-expression, lack of prototype and rules, and most importantly because it serves my intrinsic interests. What challenges have you faced in your career? What did you learn from them? The biggest challenge I’ve faced during my professional journey is the balancing act. As women, we wear many hats inside and outside of the home. I recall attending school for my masters while pregnant with my son and working a full time job. I now operate a lifestyle blog, work fulltime in the Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Film & Entertainment, I am currently launching a women’s RTW line, freelance as a wardrobe stylist, and brand influencer, all while raising my four-year old. The second biggest challenge I have faced is confidence and belief in self. The external praises of the world mean nothing if you are not internally praising yourself. As a highly ambitious person, I am demanding of myself to a fault. In addition to the internal pressures that we impress upon ourselves, we then have to factor in the world that we currently live in. The gift and cure of social media and the world’s reliance on the internet is that all eyes are on your business, but in turn, all eyes are on YOU! As a society, we have become brutally judgmental, and it takes a certain

level of prayer, faith and belief in self to overcome and push forward through this judgment. I heard it said best by my boss, “every day we wake up we are fighting against the magnet”. The magnet is our comfort zone constantly pulling us towards the easiness of being stagant and doing what we do every day. Fighting against that and pushing ourselves to new territories is what determines whether or not we will reach new levels of success or remain in our comfort zones. Fighting the magnet is my third biggest challenge

B I A NC A BEE

What is your favorite color, and why?

My favorite color is purple. I love the color purple because it’s a royalty color and it looks amazing on my skin tone. Purple makes me feel sassy and like a queen. The color purple is feminine, yet can be masculine which represents female entrepreneurs. Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? My name is Bianca Bee. I am a sassy social media influencer, host, and beauty/fashion blogger. I’ve worked for E!, The Oprah Winfrey Network, TMZ, VH1, Afterdark Films, Dark Child Record Company, Paramount Pictures, and the executive producer and host of my very own show entitled ‘The Bianca Bee Show’. I love the entertainment industry because it allows you to be creative in a variety of different ways and it inspires the world in all aspects of life. Without media and television life would be absolutely boring. What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? Some obstacles I have faced are: maneuvring my way into the entertainment industry, tthe inconsistency of film jobs and the struggle of maintaining my social life and personal life. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? - I respond to these challenges by talking to my family and close friends daily. By reading self-development books and being true to who I am and remembering where I come from. • What did you learn? -I’ve learned that you must have faith in whatever it is that you do and to always think of everything as a business and to not take things personally. • How were you and others changed by this experience? - I feel like millennials are taking over the world through social media and more people are becoming successful entrepreneurs and doing what they love instead of corporate jobs. TY COBB

What is your favorite color, and why?

Being a Woman of God brought up in the church my father is “royalty” and as his child, so am I. The color purple has been associated with royalty, power and wealth for centuries. Proverbs 31:22 says of the virtuous woman: “she makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple.” In other words, she has good quality stuff that she makes, all because she works hard and is very skilled at what she does.

Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? A woman with many talents blessed and ordained by God to go forth. I am TY COBB, Professional Makeup Artist, Lifestyle Expert, Cosmetics Owners, Reality Show Producer, Socialite, Radio Host and Mentor I have been in the beauty industry for 24 years beautifying woman with the swipe of my brush. Working for companies such as Tom Ford, M.A.C, Chanel and Giorgio Armani cosmetics. I love connecting with my clients which oftentimes turns into lasting friendships. I have “ALARGE” heart for people, so I’m definitely in the right business. As a child, up until the age of twenty-two acting and modeling were my first loves after partaking in stage plays and fashion shows in the DMV area, which led me back into the spotlight. In June 2013, I was offered my own radio show titled “The Ty Cobb Show” on Ripped Radio Network which shot to #1 quickly and deemed me the ‘First Lady’ of the network. I am the Creator and Executive Producer of my new reality show “The Real Makeup Artists of DC”, debuting July 2017 on Youtube and community television. Producer of DMV Rocks Fashion and brainchild behind Snob Movement, a personal growth and development program for young women ages 13-25.

What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? I would say being in the entertainment and beauty industries it can get tough when everyone seems to be doing the same thing and starts to notice your talents. I had to realize that my gift will always make room for me regardless of people wanting to hold me back because of jealousy. There will always be someone that sees you as a threat but never focus on that, only on the prize you are destined to WIN at the end. How well did your response deal with the challenges? A special person In my life once told me, “Elephants don’t swat at flies”, which means, I’m bigger than anyone or anything trying to throw me off track. Don’t feed into negative energy. What did you learn? Once you stop caring about what other people say or think. That’s when you will see true GROWTH, SUCCESS and PEACE of MIND!! How were you and others changed by this experience? I am truly honored and grateful to be featured with so many other AMAZING entrepreneurs working by faith to reach their destiny. Every experience should give you a new found excitement and rejuvenation for business and life’s journey. NANC Y BROWN

What is your favorite color, and why?

My favorite color is Red. What attracts me to the color is the fierce boldness it represents. To me it represents the fire within, the love in my heart, the blood that covers me and the Passion I have for my visions. I am a Life coach, Master Stylist and Instructor. The hair industry is one that I first entered at age 10, following my mother’s footsteps, reading her books and playing with her mannequins. As a teenager it became my personal ministry as I had experienced hair loss from severe chemical damage and had to find ways to correct the issue. I learned how to re grow my own hair using weaving techniques and natural home made products which I used on my clients with great success. Later I got into men and womes hair restoration using wigs, hair pieces and Laser therapy LLLT Treatments. The results were amazing, my passion grew, I fell in love with my clients reactions and deeper in love with my industry. We laughed, we cried and at the end we found the best options. There is nothing more rewarding than knowing you made an impact in someone else’s life by helping them regain their confidence and self esteem back. Later, God put it in my spirit that it was time to educate other industry professionals and share what helped me to help others. Each one teach one. www.nvmyhairacademy.com I am currently finishing my first book and I am a Mentor, Coach and Visionary Empowerment Specialist and I absolutely LOVE every minute of it. www.nancyvbrown.com I encountered many trials and tribulations growing up. I am originally from Costa Rica so I didn’t really have much family support except my mom. God started giving me my visions since I was a little girl but I didn’t have the right connections or financial backing for the caliber of visions he was giving me. Not to mention i came to the USA in 89 and grew up in the inner city of Boston so I really didn’t know anyone around me who was doing half of what I was attempting to do. They worked hard but I didn’t see the results or the riches, what I saw was people who were involved in illegal activities making real money, driving nice cars and taking trips. My reality was seeing people getting locked up, dropping out, hitting hard times or getting murdered. In my country I saw poverty at its worst, I saw how hard my mom worked, pushed and jumped over her many obstacles. I always had gratitude for how far we had come. She was the light that sparked my fire inside and who kept me pushing through no matter what. I could hear the Lord telling me not to look back and keep moving forward. I come from a line of hard working women, my ancestors were also slaves. I understood the importance of being the first and that it was always bigger than me, it was about setting up the foundation for all of us, for our next generation. I was always a visionary, and my visions were always big. People use to laugh at me because they felt my visions were too BIG. I didn’t allow them to stop me; although I had those days when I felt discouraged but I always wiped the shame of my face, got

right back up and tried again. I learned that people will always be people, there are the haters, the naysayers, the ones who are always negative, the selfish, bragging types that will try to hit yourself esteem and kick you down. Then there are the empowering, caring, inspirational, uplifting, motivational, encouraging sharing spirits who want to see you win. You have to surround yourself with likeminded visionaries to collaborate with and empower each other. There is power in numbers, knowledge, having the right connections, keys and coaches to help you accomplish your dreams and visions. We can do more together than apart; there is no need to compete because there is plenty to go around. Having this mindset has allowed to be a blessing to my clients and in return live a blessed life. I went through child hood trauma, hurt, abuse, disappointments and divorce. I have been up and down a few times but through it all I never quit. I absolutely love where I am today, teaching, coaching, writing and the difference I make in the lives of the people I help.

GIOVANNI HAWKINS What is your favorite color, and why? My favorite color is yellow. It has always seemed to make me feel happy. I love how it bounces off my skin when I wear it. Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? I am Giovanni Hawkins owner and CEO of Age of Aquarius Entertainment and creator / host of Besos Radio. Radio kind of chose me. As a teenager, I was the voice of the morning and afternoon announcements in school then that transitioned to me anchoring in Baltimore City Public Schools Channel 77 Comcast. After a hiatus to pursue college and being a mom / wife I returned to the entertainment scene co-hosting a few shows. What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? I encountered alot of doubt and stereotyping from others in the community. I was faced with railroading and being backdoored because I was fairly new in the radio scene. How well did your response deal with the challenges?

I’ve dealt with the challenges with no responses. I have learned to just elevate in my actions. Striving for greatness.

What did you learn? I have learned so much in the radio industry. The behind the scenes of it all was definitely an eye opener, to say the least. Marketing and branding are extremely important. To brand yourself according to you listening demographic is tedious but worth it. Marketing is a whole other monster but once mastered and structured accordingly it has such large value that you’d be happy you learned how to do so. How were you and others changed by this experience? I changed alot but more specifically my view on social media presense and presentation has shifted. I’ve come to appreciate social media more so now than I ever have. @_iamgiovanni (IG) @BesosRadioShow (FB) 4106351504 Besosradio@gmail.com Photographer: @eyeimagery Stylist: @itsmargoburr MUA: @_iamgiovanni

Meet the Famous Makeup Artist Joe Blasco ... Joe Blasco has enjoyed many firsts throughout his long and distinguished career: He was the first makeup artist to create “bladder” make-up effects; the first make-up artist to create government-approved centers for professional make-up artist training; and the first make-up artist chemist to refine and create make-up for low-light photography and high-resolution film and TV processes, long before the advent of HD.

of

His pioneering efforts resulted in the creation of the first airbrush make-up, the first natural red and blue neutralizers, the first “death colors,” and the first “stay-type” products. He is also recognized as the first to commercially sell “arterial blood” (known as “lo-lite”) and high-pigment foundations produced without isopropyl myristate. Joe Blasco helped to raise public awareness in the area animal rights and was the first professional make-up manufacturer to fully implement cruelty-free products. He refused to allow testing on animals or processes that required the use of animal byproducts during formulation.

At an early age, Joe Blasco was told that centers for professional motion-picture and television make-up simply did not exist; he therefore decided to remedy the situation by developing the world’s first governmentally approved centers for professional make-up artistry, thereby opening doors to make-up artists worldwide. The Joe Blasco Centers are responsible for introducing more award-winning make-up artists than any other artist apprenticeship program or training program in the history of the profession. Although once considered an industry reserved for men—particularly for male members of the “make-up families”—professional make-up became more accepting of women in large part through the efforts of Joe Blasco, whose centers openly welcomed them, helping to pave the way for them to enter the field. Today there are now morefemale artists in all areas of the art—a first in the history of the profession! Joe Blasco is also credited with creating the most comprehensive series of encyclopedic textbooks for professional make-up artistry. The series, entitled The Professional Make-up Artist and comprised of three volumes, was coauthored by Vincent J-R Kehoe and edited by Edward Cuny Miller. These incredible books are an absolute must for all serious artists of professional make-up and are available exclusively at www.megamakeupstore.com. Today, Joe Blasco continues to expand his legacy with the creation of the first online television broadcast exclusively for professional make-up artists, hairstylists, and make-up effects artists. Joe Blasco’s Make-up Artist Television, online at www.muatv.com, has become a daily viewing must for make-up and hair artists the world over. In addition to the development of MUATV.com, Joe Blasco has devised the first truly professional online make-up artist and hairstylist training program at www.themakeupspace.com. In response to the dramatic technological changes in the motion-picture and television industries—with an awareness that the teaching methods of the past have now become obsolete—he has developed a new, state-of-the-art teaching method for students of professional make-up, a method that allows students of the craft to experience the highest quality make-up education in the comfort of their own homes, without incurring the expense of travel and lodging. Joe Blasco’s achievements and pioneering efforts in all areas of makeup artistry truly set him apart as the icon of the industry. From “beauty to the beast,” and in every area of the art, Joe Blasco has enjoyed it all. He has successfully experienced and mastered areas of makeup artistry far beyond application. But most importantly, he shares his knowledge with everyone and continues to create new platforms from which professional make-up can evolve to even greater heights.

What is your favorite color, and why?

My favorite color is gold and black!... Gold represents royalty...A rare color which also represents The importance, charisma, personality and characteristics of an Individual... The color black and it’s meaning to me is simple... If I can make it through the good times, I can surely survive the dark times as well!! 2.I Am Ezekhiel Atem...The entertainment industry is my playground. Whether it’s acting, music, writing, producing or directing, not only do you learn How to be independent and business savvy, but you also express yourself as an artist by sharing your Talent(s) with the world while you show your creativity. 3.The obstacles I’ve periodically faced were the way executives, agents and directors would act When they couldn’t get you to do anything. It’s one thing to be blessed with raw talent and good looks But it’s definitely a battle when you’ve got a brain and know how to use it. As a well rounded Individual, artist and businessman, I know my capabilities, values and well aware Of my work ethic. 4.I mean...You live and you learn...You learn from your own mistakes and you come Across others that are humble enough to share their own experiences with you. The best lessons in life are often derived from personal experiences in my opinion. Not only does it help you grow as an individual, but it also shows you what you’re made off...It can make you or destroy you... 5. I learned to be me through it all...I learned to stay true to myself... After it’s all said and done...money and fame is not a factor.. No matter what you do and how hard you work, people will always have their own opinions about you... As long as I’m not losing sleep over any of those things I’m Gucci.... 6.This experiences showed and taught me to invest more into myself than others...Especially in this industry. The best investment one can make is an investment in themselves and their future.. People have their own agendas...Why shouldn’t you?!!..I’ve learned to be selfish with my time And frugal with my currency. I rather buy my own equipment and teach myself the mechanics than Throw money at someone whom I’ve got no solid relationship

YCHOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF COLOURS There are four psychological primary colours - red, blue, yellow and green. They relate respectively to the body, the mind, the emotions and the essential balance between these three. The psychological properties of the eleven basic colours are as follows (Learn how you can harness the positive effects of the colours, by joining us on one of our courses):

RED. Physical

Positive: Physical courage, strength, warmth, energy, basic survival, ‘fight or flight’, stimulation, masculinity, excitement. Negative: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain. Being the longest wavelength, red is a powerful colour. Although not technically the most visible, it has the property of appearing to be nearer than it is and therefore it grabs our attention first. Hence its effectiveness in traffic lights the world over. Its effect is physical; it stimulates us and raises the pulse rate, giving the impression that time is passing faster than it is. It relates to the masculine principle and can activate the “fight or flight” instinct. Red is strong, and very basic. Pure red is the simplest colour, with no subtlety. It is stimulating and lively, very friendly. At the same time, it can be perceived as demanding and aggressive.

BLUE. Intellectual.

Positive: Intelligence, communication, trust, efficiency, serenity, duty, logic, coolness, reflection, calm. Negative: Coldness, aloofness, lack of emotion, unfriendliness. Blue is the colour of the mind and is essentially soothing; it affects us mentally, rather than the physical reaction we have to red. Strong blues will stimulate clear thought and lighter, soft blues will calm the mind and aid concentration. Consequently it is serene and mentally calming. It is the colour of clear communication. Blue objects do not appear to be as close to us as red ones. Time and again in research, blue is the world’s favourite colour. However, it can be perceived as cold, unemotional and unfriendly.

YELLOW. Emotional

Positive: Optimism, confidence, self-esteem, extraversion, emotional strength, friendliness, creativity. Negative: Irrationality, fear, emotional fragility, depression, anxiety, suicide. The yellow wavelength is relatively long and essentially stimulating. In this case the stimulus is emotional, therefore yellow is the strongest colour, psychologically. The right yellow will lift our spirits and our self-esteem; it is the colour of confidence and optimism. Too much of it, or the wrong tone in relation to the other tones in a colour scheme, can cause self-esteem to plummet, giving rise to fear and anxiety. Our “yellow streak” can surface.

GREEN. Balance

Positive: Harmony, balance, refreshment, universal love, rest, restoration, reassurance, environmental awareness, equilibrium, peace.

Negative: Boredom, stagnation, blandness, enervation. Green strikes the eye in such a way as to require no adjustment whatever and is, therefore, restful. Being in the centre of the spectrum, it is the colour of balance - a more important concept than many people realise. When the world about us contains plenty of green, this indicates the presence of water, and little danger of famine, so we are reassured by green, on a primitive level. Negatively, it can indicate stagnation and, incorrectly used, will be perceived as being too bland.

VIOLET. Spiritual

Positive: Spiritual awareness, containment, vision, luxury, authenticity, truth, quality. Negative: Introversion, decadence, suppression, inferiority. The shortest wavelength is violet, often described as purple. It takes awareness to a higher level of thought, even into the realms of spiritual values. It is highly introvertive and encourages deep contemplation, or meditation. It has associations with royalty and usually communicates the finest possible quality. Being the last visible wavelength before the ultraviolet ray, it has associations with time and space and the cosmos. Excessive use of purple can bring about too much introspection and the wrong tone of it communicates something cheap and nasty, faster than any other colour.

ORANGE.

Positive: Physical comfort, food, warmth, security, sensuality, passion, abundance, fun. Negative: Deprivation, frustration, frivolity, immaturity. Since it is a combination of red and yellow, orange is stimulating and reaction to it is a combination of the physical and the emotional. It focuses our minds on issues of physical comfort - food, warmth, shelter etc. - and sensuality. It is a ‘fun’ colour. Negatively, it might focus on the exact opposite - deprivation. This is particularly likely when warm orange is used with black. Equally, too much orange suggests frivolity and a lack of serious intellectual values.

PINK.

Positive: Physical tranquillity, nurture, warmth, femininity, love, sexuality, survival of the species. Negative: Inhibition, emotional claustrophobia, emasculation, physical weakness. Being a tint of red, pink also affects us physically, but it soothes, rather than stimulates. (Interestingly, red is the only colour that has an entirely separate name for its tints. Tints of blue, green, yellow, etc. are simply called light blue, light greenetc.) Pink is a powerful colour, psychologically. It represents the feminine principle, and survival of the species; it is nurturing and physically soothing. Too much pink is physically draining and can be somewhat emasculating.

TRE ADDISON • What is your favorite color, and why?

ter in trying to deal with the challenges?

My favorite color, ironically with white. I know some may not consider it a color, but I certainly do. I love the feel I get for wearing white and the look of white. I think it’s sophisticated, modern, and futuristic.

The biggest obstacles I have encountered in this industry have been my own insecurities and fears. I have learned to always tell myself, “Yes” before I say, “No.” I actually say this out loud. If I allow my fears to paralyze me, I’ll never take any risks and, most likely, not gain any rewards. I am my biggest critic, so my skin is pretty thick. I understand this industry is about aesthetic and subjective. I also understand it is a multi- billion dollar industry. There’s enough for everyone, so I can’t be afraid of rejection. I embrace it. Every rejection or missed opportunity further pushes me to the what’s meant for me.

• Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? Hello! My name Tré Addison and I am an emerging model/actor based in Atlanta, GA. With modeling, I do runway, print, commercial, editorial, and sport modeling, including walking in Atlanta and New York Fashion Weeks, Small Boutique Fashion Week, Style Fashion Week, and more! I have worked with designers and clothing brands such as: Iridium 77, Lindbergh USA, Exiles Colletction, Scripted1Clothing, to name a few! I have been featured in Inspo Magazine (London, UK), Ebony Magazine, and I have been honored to be on the covers of Bonheur Magazine and EyeSeeBeauty Magazine. Currently, I’m the Face of Exiles Collection, Scripted1 Clothing Line, Brand Ambassador for Iridium 77 ATL, “The Adnama Man” of Adnama Clothing. In film and television, I have been on Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Married to Medicine and VH1’s Atlanta Exes, and I currently play “Javion Winters” in Youtube’s webseries -FIVEPOINTS: The Series, as well as, co-star as “Jeremy” in Now That You Know - The Movie, set for release in Fall, 2017. The ability to affect the world through art, color, and vision, is most appealing to me about the entertainment industry. Throughout history the arts have shaped the world. To me, having the ability to reflect someone’s story, manifest a vision, elicit emotions, or be an vessel or outlet of expression, advocacy, and activism is truly a gift entrusted to man, and should honed and honored. • What obstacles did you encoun-

• How well did your response deal with the challenges? I find success in every endeavors. Even if I don’t get an opportunity, there is always something that I learn from every experience. I consider success as being able to walk away from any opportunity with further knowledge and insight. • What did you learn? I’ve learned that maintaining good relationships and professionalism will take your further in this industry than looks and even talent. Everyone wants their art, talent, and crafts to be treated with respect and dignity. I try to remember to honor those gifts in anyone with whom I cross paths. • How were you and others changed by this experience? I am constantly being changed by my challenges and experiences. I gain more self-awareness and insight. That allows me to learn from both my mistakes and successes. My time in this industry, thus far, has made me more in tune with my faith and spirituality. It has reshaped my outlook and view of the world. Now, I see everything as art, and that is a very beautiful and colorful way of existing.

CARRIE

PINK

What is your favorite color, and why? My favorite color is PINK. It’s a color that can represent so many different emotions depending on the shade you choose. Hot pink, is bold and daring while pastel pink is soft and feminine. I love the versatility of the color and all things about being a girl that it represents. • Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? I’m Carrie Pink, Your Financial Stylist and I teach financial literacy to women and young girls. I chose to go into personal finance because it’s an industry we all have to live within, but very few are taught. We all have to handle money on a day to day basis, but it’s the one topic not taught in schools. They don’t teach you how to manage money, debt, credit or save. So I wanted to fill that void and provide education to as many people as possible. • What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? Funny but one of the first obstacles I faced in this industry was getting people to attend my classes. I was hosting monthly sessions for free in NYC to a community that was disenfranchised and facing severe gentrification but only a handful of people would show up to my class. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? Well once I started going to where my audience was instead of expecting them to come to me I saw a major increase in class attendance, especially when I started live-streaming the sessions on the internet. • What did you learn? I learned that even those who need your help the most don’t always know it and you have to bring it to them and point out that they have options. • How were you and others changed by this experience? At that time I only taught one class monthly, but after that experience I realized a greater need to teach financial education. I had so many success stories of students from that first class, 1 person paid off all their debt, another learned about investing for the first time, another even bought their first home! I realized what I provided had great value to our community.

VERONICA

A graduate of Wake Technical Community College, holds a Associate of Science in Interior Design. Lead Designer of Butterfly Concepts, there is nothing like using the creative talent we are blessed with to make a difference for others. what is your industry -Interior Design and why did this industry appeal to you? The interior design industry appeal to me because of my interest in helping people change their way of felling, peace of mind, outlook on life for the better. Example a small accent piece, picture or flowers can change a person whole attitude. • What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? One of my biggest challenges is time management, staying up on the trends because they change so quickly. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? I didn’t respond well, and it has taken some time to deal with. When it comes to my unique creativity and being a perfectionist. One can be more dominant than the other. • What did you learn? I found that I have to put down on a calendar of what my Process, plans will be for each day. It’s ok to not know all of the trends because alot of clients are only looking to have more of the clean and functional and inviting space. • How were you and others changed by this experience Every body else isn’t on pins and needles because I am not running around with my head cut off

JAMILLAH RAHMAAD What is your favorite color, and why? - My favorite color is green. I love earth tones but green makes my skin glow. Also, green is the color of my alma mater Michigan State University and it’s the color of money! • Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? - I’m Jamillah Rahmaad, a Publicity and Brand Strategist. I work with executives and creative entrepreneurs to connect them with media outlets to share their stories. I love the PR industry because it allows me to utilize my full array of skills - writing, communication. design, and organization. I found PR while in college as a medical technology major. I was immediately attracted to it, because it brought out my people skills even though I am an introvert. • What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? - I had to overcome the imposter syndrome. Because I started as a science major I kept thinking everyone would think I was CRAZY for making such a drastic change to my future. Even as I climbed the career ladder, I always thought someone would think I was a fraud. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? - I eventually had a Come To Jesus Moment where I had to face the facts... I was damn good at PR, my clients were seeing great success with me and I LOVE what I do. PAULA WHITTLE Paula Whittle currently owns a progressive Business Development and Marketing firm and also Founder of 'The Fashion Apprentice,' a mentorship program for young girls within the fashion industry. With such a demanding schedule, she finds it imperative to keep God first and foremost in her life, and attributes Him to her success. Whittle’s story is a story of hardship, faith, innovation, and triumph with chapters to be written. She believes that with God on her side, she is able to look at the impossible and see possible. I am in the Fashion and Entertainment Industry. With the creativity and passion for the arts, I navigated my way into the world of entertainment and now fashion arts. Fashion is the heartbeat of style and the driving force of our society. Aspiring designers, models and enthusiasts needed a platform and outlet for networking, promotion and presentations.

What is your favorite color, and why? Purple because it represents royalty • Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? When you think of fashion and entertainment in Atlanta two words come to mind, Paula Whittle. She has managed to defy impossibilities and obstacles to become an Atlanta legend in creating a fashion and entertainment powerhouse. How does one go from a highly sought after entertainment manager, to Fashion’s IT girl, producing an annual global fashion event? “I saw a need and I decided to fill it; therefore, to bridge the gap and connect continents through fashion and entertainment”, says Paula Whittle. Over the last ten years, her partnerships are just as impressive as her who’s who of clientele which have included: Sony, BET, VIBE, VH1, Virgin Records, SoSo Def, Rockmond Dunbar, R. Kelly, Ludacris, Usher, Sean 'Puffy' Combs, RHOA Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton plus many more. In 2003, Whittle emerged onto the fashion scene as a model agent. Typical Paula Whittle style, she couldn’t just be a part of the fashion industry, she had to re-invent it. Hence the creation of Atlanta’s premier fashion event, the Atlanta International Fashion Week. Now, Whittle, is the brainchild and director of the most avantgarde fashion and entertainment event, the Atlanta International Fashion Week, making history in 2007 with its debut. The ability to change lives and propel careers. Its about building business and building Atlanta. Atlanta is already an emerging epicenter of culture, arts, technology and entertainment, now its time for the fashion. For Atlanta to become a player in the global fashion arena. When I received a vision to build it and they will come. Its more than just about producing shows or events but more about changing lives and building the city. • What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? Obstacles are just barriers on this journey to success which, through careful navigation and strategy, can be avoided. In business, capital is a challenge and then being able to build a strong team. Although, opportunity and equality is the biggest challenge for female entrepreneurs. Doors separate us before entering different places. Women need more doors opened for them which can propel them to success. My hope is to provide the stepping stones to success for others. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? Challenges may arise but it's how we respond to them. For every challenge, there is an opportunity for growth. My ability to discern, adapt and execute strategies in overcoming those challenges were important. • What did you learn? Everyday is a learning experience. You never stop learning. Life is the best teacher. Failure is also the greatest teacher. Its'the bridge to success. You can never be successful until you have failed which I have and it was my greatest teacher. • How were you and others changed by this experience? Every experience, obstacle and failure is a learning experience that helped with growth and a better way of doing business. I use every lesson learned for application and to teach others.

CHANEL FREE

• What is your favorite color, and why?

Leopard. I know it may sound funny because “leopard” is not really a color it’s a pattern, but I think it’s the best reflection of my personality. I am bold, simple, complex, and edgy. • Who are you, what is your industry and why did this industry appeal to you? My name is Chanel Free aka The Fearless Coach. I am a life coach and launch strategist I help women learn to outsmart fear, activate faith, and build kick ass brands that bank on social media. I’ve always been a “helper” by nature my educational background is in counseling and psychology. I strongly believe in building people up and that’s what I do through my brand. • What obstacles did you encounter in trying to deal with the challenges? In 2013, I made the decision to move from Brooklyn to Atlanta in search of a more stable life for myself and my children. However, it was not as easy as I thought. I applied to over 300 jobs in my field and never received one call back. Being broke and unemployed was so new to me. I mean, I’ve struggled financially before, but never have I ever been totally dependent on others (especially a man). My car was repossessed, the bills were mounting, then I found out that I was pregnant with baby #3. My world had been turned upside down. So many thoughts ran through my mind. Was God punishing me? Had I made the wrong decision to quit my job and move to another state? And most importantly I was afraid of the unknown--What would happen to my children? What type of mother or example would I be for them? Although, my circumstances looked terrible, I knew God hadn’t forsaken me. • How well did your response deal with the challenges? • What did you learn? Instead of continuing to question my faith, I decided to build it up. To actively seek out God and my purpose. I prayed, I meditated, I took the time to build my relationship with God. I learned how to outsmart my fears. Instead of avoiding them, I chose to confront each and every one of them, so I could understand the messages they were trying to

tell me. I read tons of books...my bible most importantly, Super Rich, The Power of Self Forgiveness, The Gifts of Imperfection. Slowly, but surely I began to realize that God wasn’t punishing me at all. He was putting me in position for greatness. God was stripping me of all of the things that were holding me back from living out my purpose. Forcing me to let go of all the things that were holding me back. Being an entrepreneur is not easy, but it is rewarding. There is something about stepping out of your comfort zone and taking risks that makes you virtually unstoppable. Looking back I am thankful for his favor and saving me from the mediocre 9 to 5 life that I was willing to settle for simply because deep down inside I didn’t think I was good enough to be the next Iyanla Vanzant. I used all that I had learned to step out on faith and into my divine purpose which is to share my tests and testimonies and help other women just like myself get out of the struggle and outsmart the fears that keep them stuck. Hence, the name of my brand The Fearless Coach. • How were you and others changed by this experience? I can truly say that I am finally becoming the woman and mother I always dreamed I could be. Independent, strong, fearless, and present. Being present for my children is very important to me. My mother was a single mother and had no choice but to rely on others to step in and help. This was good, but it left too many gaps for a teenage girl without a father figure to get into unnecessary drama. I vowed that I would not let that happen to my children and this experience has made that possible. Working from home on my own terms and during the times I set gives me the opportunity to be there for my girls (I have 3 under the age of 6) day in and day out, even when they are driving me crazy. They are sitting front row watching me build something extraordinary. They value creativity and know that is ok to be different, do different things, and take risks. Some of my family members still have no idea what I do, lol. But that’s ok. On the other hand, my fiance, is my backbone. He’s seen me grow this business from the ground up all while taking care of 3 kids full-time because we couldn’t afford childcare. He tells me often that he admires my strength and is very proud of me. Last but not least, I have a positive influence on thousands of women’s lives across the globe. When I get emails or DM’s saying how much I’ve inspired them it makes me smile, not just because they are saying good things about me, but because I know I am serving my purpose on this earth.
