OSTEOPOROSIS Los factores de estilo de vida como la dieta y la actividad física influyen en el desarrollo óseo en la juventud y en la tasa de pérdida ósea más adelante en la vida. Después de los 20 años, el adelgazamiento óseo es un proceso natural y no se puede detener por completo. Cuanto más gruesos sean sus huesos, es menos probable que se adelgacen lo suficiente como para romperse.
Las mujeres jóvenes en particular deben ser conscientes de su riesgo de osteoporosis y tomar medidas para retrasar su progreso y prevenir fracturas. Se estima que un aumento del 10% de la masa ósea máxima en los niños reduce el riesgo de una fractura osteoporótica durante la vida adulta en un 50%.

While summer is over, doesn’t mean the fun has to be! Head over to the newly inaugurated Doral Glades Park for an experience like no other. This is Doral’s first environmental park and only nature center within Northwest Miami-Dade. The state-of-the-art facility, an homage to the unique environment of the Florida everglades, was partially funded by a grant in 2008 from the Florida Communities Trust’s Florida Forever Program in the amount of $3.6 million.

Este es el primer parque ambiental de Doral y el único centro natural dentro del noroeste de Miami-Dade. Esta instalación de vanguardia, un homenaje al entorno único de los Everglades de Florida, fue parcialmente financiada por una subvención en el 2008 del Programa Florida Forever de Florida Communities Trust por un monto de $ 3.6 millones.
The 23-acre facility, which was completed on schedule and under budget is located at 7600 NW 98 Pl. and is centered on a lake and wetland. Amenities include: tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts, kayak launch, community/nature center and an educational boardwalk.

This park is special to me, not only because it honors the historical ecology of Doral and South Florida, but because the project itself has a long history dating back to 2006 during my first term as Mayor. I’m proud of the work we did at that time, collaborating with the necessary parties in order to acquire the land for this beautiful park that families will enjoy for many years to come.

Upon entering the reception area the first thing that gets your attention is the huge and striking red, black, and white logo of MejorArte. Paintings and artistic photographs decorate the environment. Then there are the different private work stations. The first one belongs to Willarte in which you are welcome by the actor Robin Williams, masterfully painted in a flannel, as well as many awards on the walls. The next station belongs to Luis Gil, in which an exotic mix of colors highlights a woman and an eye in 3D that immediately attract attention. A little further in there are the stations of Luisa Medina “Lulu” (@lulutattoo_art) and Christian Pelaez (@chrispelaezart), both decorated in their own style. More than a tattoo studio, MejorArte is a center dedicated to art, it is a gallery that showcases

Its owners, Luis Gil and Willy Peña, inaugurated it in midDecember 2018. The name of MejorArte (in Spanish- having a double meaning- Best Art as well as Better yourself) is a pun that Willy dreamed of many years ago and today is a reality; it is open to the interpretation of the person, to improve the art that already has or to want to have the best art. Everything is done in the study, tattooing , the covering of tattoos and scars , is designed together with the client, then the design is assembled digitally before tattooing it to have a reference of how it will look. MejorArte will soon constantly organize Talent Exhibitions. They are an open space for art, so that artists, both local, national and international, have their own area to display their works, be they paintings, fabrics, etc. The idea arose as a result of the inauguration because that day MejorArte was not the protagonist but the artists who attended the event and showed their works. They will also give seminars on drawing, painting, as well as tattooing.

Al entrar en la recepción lo primero que llama la atención es el enorme y llamativo logo rojo con blanco y negro de MejorArte. Pinturas y fotografías artísticas decoran el ambiente. Luego están las diferentes estaciones privadas de trabajo. La primera es la de Willarte en la que te recibe el actor Robin Williams, pintado magistralmente en una franela, así como muchos reconocimientos y premios en las paredes. La siguiente estación es la de Luis Gil, en la que una exótica mezcla de colores resalta en 3D a una mujer y a un ojo que atrapan la atención inmediatamente. Más que un estudio para tatuar, MejorArte es un centro dedicado al arte, es una galería que muestra el talento de quienes allí entregan su alma y liberan la creatividad en cada diseño. Sus dueños, Luis Gil y Willy Peña, lo inauguraron a mediados de diciembre de 2018. El nombre de MejorArte es un juego de palabras con el que Willy soñó hace muchos años y hoy es una realidad; está abierto a la interpretación de la persona para mejorar el arte que ya tiene o quiere tener el mejor arte.

En el estudio se hace de todo, se tatúa, se cubren tatuajes y cicatrices; se diseña junto al cliente, luego se monta el diseño en digital antes de tatuarlo para tener una referencia de cómo va a quedar. Próximamente MejorArte va a organizar constantemente Exposiciones de Talentos. Se tratan de un espacio abierto para el arte, para que los artistas, tanto locales, nacionales e internacionales, tengan su propia área para mostrar sus obras, ya sean pinturas, telas, etc. La idea surgió a raíz de la inauguración porque ese día MejorArte no fue el protagonista sino los artistas que asistieron al evento y mostraron sus obras. También impartirán seminarios de dibujo, pintura, así como de tatuajes.

The tattoo I would never do: I try to make what I do represent me. I am at the point where a tattoo is really what the client wants and what I want to show. I do not accept predetermined designs and if I see that it will not work for the client because it will look bad or my work will not look good for some reason, I do not accept it.”

¿Cómo supiste que querías ser actor? Siempre veía la televisión y me encantaba, veía las series y siempre me preguntaba cómo se hacían. Yo hacía mucho deporte pero un día tuve que parar por un tiempo. Para tener algo que hacer, recibí clases de actuación en SameTag.
¿Cómo te ves dentro de 10 años?

How did you know you wanted to be an actor?
¿Qué les recomiendas a los jóvenes que quieren comenzar en el mundo de la actuación? Si de verdad esta es su pasión, que se enfoquen, se preparen y no se rindan porque van a encontrar muchos no y obstáculos en el camino. Que no desistan.
I always watched television and loved it, I watched TV series and always wondered how they were made. I played a lot of sports but one day I had to stop for a while. To have something to do, I received acting classes at SameTag.
En julio de este año Samuel Sadovnik ganó el premio Young Artist Academy como Best Performance in a Feature Film Supporting Young Actor por la película I Can Only Imagine en Los Angeles.
How do you see yourself 10 years from now? I see myself finishing college. I want to study Direction of Photography and Screenwriting. I hope to be making movies, directing, and writing. It would be wonderful.
What do you recommend to young people who want to get into acting? If this is really their passion, focus, prepare and do not give up because they will find many not and obstacles along the way. Do not give up.

A rushed and impatient driver can become aggressive and end up angry at the wheel or in a tragic situation.

What is considered aggressive at the wheel? • Changing lanes abruptly without first activating the turning lights. • Following the vehicle ahead of you and passing it violently. • Not respecting the distance between vehicles. • Speeding. • Harassing other drivers with rude gestures and expressions. • Stopping suddenly and making a violent turn. • Zigzagging between vehicles.

How to deal with an aggressive driver? • Ignore it • Do not make eye contact. • Do not respond to rude gestures or screams. • If you feel harassed and in danger that the situation may reach another level, then stop and let the other vehicle pass or accelerate, and evade it by taking the next exit if you are on the highway. • Do not get out of the car because it serves as a shelter, both to protect yourself and to avoid assaulting someone. • Try to take a picture of the license plate and get a description of the vehicle and the individual, as long as you are not exposed to danger.

In Doral: • One of the biggest challenges DPD has is maintaining order in city traffic. There are 13 officers on motorcycles dedicated exclusively to traffic. Similarly, patrols enforce the laws.
There is the right to self-defense, but because of a traffic jam, emotions and adrenaline are high and can go to another level. Existe el derecho de la autodefensa pero por una trifulca de tráfico las emociones y la adrenalina están elevadas y puede pasar a otro nivel mayor.
• During the summer, DPD collaborated with the Florida Department of Transportation. They regularly campaign to educate drivers on various topics.

La ira al volante siempre ha existido, ahora se nota más porque hay más tráfico y más personas. La gente pierde la paciencia y la cordura con facilidad.

Regularmente hacen campañas para educar a los choferes en varios temas.

The legal consequences for an aggressive driver will depend on the violation of traffic he/she commits and what the situation develops into. When Lourdes Ubieta, a Venezuelan journalist, got pregnant, doctors gave a 1% chance that her baby “Gabrielito” would survive since her pregnancy was high risk. She underwent very strong tests such as being in bed without moving for almost 2 months and sometimes she was hung by the ankles and stayed that way for hours to be able to turn that 1% into a healthy and strong baby. • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil • 5 large sliced garlic cloves • 100 g fennel (with some leaves) thinly sliced • 100 g of thinly sliced onion • 100 g very small diced carrots • Salt and freshly ground pepper • ¼ cup dried vermouth or white wine • 1 medium can of crushed peeled tomato with fork • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh tarragon • 1 kg. fresh and clean mussels • Crusty bread to serve
• ¼ de taza de aceite de oliva extra virgen. • 5 dientes de ajo grandes en rodajas finas. • 100 g. de hinojo (con algunas hojas) en rodajas finas. • 100 g. de cebolla en rodajas finas. • 100 g. de zanahorias en cubitos muy pequeños. • Sal y pimienta recién molida. • ¼ de taza de vermut seco o vino blanco. • 1 lata mediana de tomate pelado aplastado con un tenedor. • 2 cucharaditas de estragón fresco picado. • 1 kg. de mejillones frescos y limpios Pan crujiente para servir.
HINOJO Y TOMATE PREPARATION 1. Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add garlic, fennel and onion. Cook until softened and fragrant, for about 4 minutes. 2. Add the carrots and season with salt and pepper; continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are very soft, for about 4 minutes. 3. Add the vermouth or wine and boil to reduce slightly. 4. Add the tomatoes and tarragon, then cover the pot and simmer until the vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes. 5. Add the mussels. Raise the heat to high, cover and cook until the mussels open, 3 to 5 minutes. 6. Transfer the mussels to a serving container, discarding those that do not open. Season the sauce with pepper, and if necessary, salt. 7. Serve with toasted bread. SEPTEMBER SEPTEMBER 2019 2019
PREPARACIÓN 1. Calentar el aceite de oliva en una olla a fuego medio. Agregar el ajo, el hinojo y la cebolla; cocine hasta que se ablanden y estén fragantes, unos 4 minutos. 2. Añadir las zanahorias y sazonar con sal y pimienta; continuar la cocción, revolviendo ocasionalmente, hasta que las zanahorias queden muy suaves, unos 4 minutos. 3. Agregar el vermut o el vino y hervir para reducir ligeramente. 4. Agregar los tomates y el estragón, luego cubrir la olla y cocinar a fuego lento hasta que las verduras estén tiernas, unos 10 minutos. 5. Añadir los mejillones. Subir el fuego a alto, tapar y cocinar hasta que los mejillones se abran, de 3 a 5 minutos. 6. Transferir todos los mejillones a un recipiente para servir, desechando los que no se abren. Sazonar la salsa con pimienta y, si es necesario, sal. 7. Sirvir con el pan tostado. 25 25
