LOUMC MINISTRIES
QUILTERS MINISTY BY SAM LOBELLO
Did you know that in 2018 alone our quilters made 575 quilts and placed them with veterans or others who were in need. The group of 15 to 20 meet weekly to enjoy fellowship and community while utilizing their talents to help others. They make an array of items including bibs, hand grips for people with walkers, shirts and dresses for missions, and of course, quilts! Apryl Brignac shared on our facebook page her own heart warming experience with our quilters, the “Piece Makers.” They are “a group of men and women who meet every Wednesday at Live Oak Methodist... to make quilts for our patients [at New Centry Hospice]. It is not only a comfort to our patients, but a comfort to families after their loved one passes. I remember smelling all my dads shirts and blankets after he passed just to feel close to him again. What a creative way to use the talent and skill they have to make a difference!!” Our Quilters Ministry meets on Wednesdays at 8:00 AM in the Family Life Center under the leadership of the Ministry Director, Deloris Corkin. If you’d like to learn more about our Quilters Ministry or to be a part of the team, please call the Church Office at 664-4801. Currently sewers are needed!
MEN’S MINISTRY BY SAM LOBELLO
O
ur Men’s Retreat at Camp Istrouma was a great time of fellowship and spiritual growth! Our topic was Your Story. We looked at how the lives of some people in the Bible probably didn’t go as planned, but God had a purpose for them and used them to bring praise and glory to His name! As a result, they had a story. Some of our Men’s Ministry leaders then shared their story. A Testimony (Story) Outline was then assigned to each in our group Friday night. Each worked individually and privately discovering their story. Saturday morning several of our men volunteered to share their story (testimony). The value? Now more of our men are equipped to share their faith in Christ by sharing their personal testimony with clarity. As a result more people will hear the story of Jesus and His love for all people, and more people will be given the opportunity to be become a Christian as a result of our men engaging in evangelism...sharing their faith.
