ODAY we introduce you to community groups across Merseyside who need your help to grab a share of £50,000! Our Wish campaign has 350 groups registered to take part – and each one is guaranteed a payout from our cashpot. But the size of the cheque will depend on the amount of support they gain from ECHO readers in the form of tokens. Starting today we’ll be printing Wish tokens every day in the ECHO over the next eight
weeks. Your first set of tokens are included within this supplement. The cash pot will be divided by the number of tokens collected - so the bigger a groups share of the tokens, the bigger its share of the money. Remember every token counts – so make sure you help out your favourite cause. Our registered groups range from schools and sports clubs to animal charities and old folks’ groups plus many more besides. We’ve got groups spread across Merseyside, covering every community and every age range.
In this special 20-page supplement, we have highlighted every group on our Wish list so that you can decide which to support. Each group has been sent a starter pack – including a token collection box – to help them collect tokens in their own community. Groups need to collect as many tokens as possible and we’ll let everyone know the size of their share of the £50,000 cash pot at the end of April. ECHO editor Alastair Machray, said: “We have always known how much pride people
from Merseyside take in their communities, and the brilliant response we had when this promotion was launched just goes to prove it. “We have 350 applications with over a week to spare. Now it’s up to everyone to organise their token collections - and from what we know and have seen so far it’s going to be a brilliant and hectic few weeks.” ● Please note that, as highlighted during the application process, we could not accept any forms that were emailed – we could only accept postal applications.
What you need to know about Wish Q: What is Wish? A: It’s a Liverpool ECHO campaign to give away £50,000 to community groups across Merseyside.
each group collects. The bigger their share of tokens, the bigger their share of cash.
Q: How many groups will benefit? A: All groups registered on our Wish List are guaranteed a share of the cash.
Q: When will tokens run in the paper? A: The first tokens are printed in today’s paper. Tokens will run every day over the next eight weeks.
Q: How will you decide what share each group gets? A: That depends on how many tokens
Q: How will I know which group to support? A: Every group on our Wish List is
featured in this supplement. You can also go online and visit our webpage www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/wish to find out which groups are in your postal area. That way you can choose a group that will directly benefit the community you live in. Q: Where do I send tokens? A: We’ve printed an address for each group in this supplement so people can post their tokens. We’ve also given each
group a collecting box where supporters can drop off their tokens.
Q: How will I know if my group is doing well? A: Each group will be keeping a count of their tokens and we’ll print regular updates in the paper showing how they’re doing. The final share-out will be revealed in the paper after all the tokens have been sent in for counting.
Q: When will we know how much cash each group has won? A: We’ll run another supplement in the paper at the end of April showing how much money each group has been awarded. The token collect ends on Friday, April 9. ● If you have any other questions, please contact co-ordinator Litza Gorman on 0151 472 2352 or email echo.enquiries@liverpool.com.
