What advice would you give someone who was looking for a career as an estate agent? If possible take an industry relevant qualification – taking the NAEA award dramatically helped my career. To succeed you need a genuine interest in sales and lettings. Buying, selling and letting properties can be emotional; you need to be able to provide support and maintain professionalism at all times.
How long have you been an estate agent? I have been an estate agent with Reeds Rains since 2010. Why did you become an estate agent, and what inspired you to take the role? I have always had an interest in property sales and lettings, and have been fortunate enough to work in the property industry since leaving university. I joined Reeds Rains on a management programme in 2010 and have recently taken the role of Branch Manager at Formby.

What was the first house you sold? Where was it, and how much did it sell for? The first property I sold was in Woolton, South Liverpool, on Woodrock Road. The three bed semi sold for £150,000. What is the most expensive house you have helped to sell? I have been fortunate enough to work in two very successful branches and have sold numerous expensive properties – in the million-plus category. It does not matter the price category of the property – our aim is to sell houses and we are very successful across the board. How would you sum up your approach to a sale? It is my role to achieve the best possible price for my sellers within their desired timeframe. I achieve this by providing a professional service, being

What is the most important thing someone selling a house should remember? A lot of factors determine the outcome of a sale. The marketing and advertising of your house is key to attract the right buyers; we help our clients to achieve the best strategy to sell/let their property – presentation is key. Choosing a good agent with good local knowledge, great customer service and who are able to offer the service you require will help achieve a good sale with minimal stress.
Where in the world would your dream home be, and what would it look like? There are some very nice houses in Formby! I would have to go with a castle in Scotland or a vineyard château in France given the choice.
What is the most important thing someone buying a house should remember? Know your area – is it the best place for you and your needs – such as schools, transport, environment? Most people say they just know when they walk into the right house.
How has the industry changed since you began your career? Early 2000’s we saw house prices increasing dramatically, but since 2007 this has slowed. This has had a knockon effect on finances, particularly first time buyers. There are always peaks
