Flair for the job breeds success

T

HE last 12 years have seen Oliver Ball build a successful career in estate agency.

Originally from Kingsley in Cheshire, Oliver got into estate agency after leaving university and soon found he had a flair for the job and loved helping people to find their dream home. “I get a real sense of satisfaction in establishing a buyer’s needs and then surpassing those requirements and expectations whilst delivering excellent customer service,” said Oliver, who now lives in Hoole with his wife and two cats, Poppy and Matilda. “I became an estate agent in 2001 working as a sales negotiator for an agent in Lancaster, where I went to

university. I continued working for the same company but in different offices over the next 11 years and worked my way up in the business to senior sales negotiator, marketing advisor and eventually branch manager. “My most recent roles where in North Wales, as the branch manager of offices in Flint, then Rhyl. I was extremely proud to be able to take both of these struggling offices from a loss making position to making a healthy profit within three years.” Oliver, who studied environmental chemistry at university, decided to take a career break last year and travelled for eight months before joining Jones & Chapman upon his return. He said: “I left in August 2012

to go backpacking around South East Asia, New Zealand and South America. I was fortunate to be offered a branch manager position with Jones & Chapman within a few weeks of returning home.” There’s been a distinct improvement in the market in the last eight months too, as Oliver explains: “Before I left in August 2012 we were experiencing a very difficult market which had been struggling for a number of years. Since my return, I’ve noticed a real difference in the marketplace – there’s a definite upturn in activity, not only in terms of new properties coming to the market, but also applicant numbers and viewings. This is for a number of reasons, not least a general feeling of

HE last 12 years have seen Oliver Ball build a successful career in estate agency.

Originally from Kingsley in Cheshire, Oliver got into estate agency after leaving university and soon found he had a flair for the job and loved helping people to find their dream home. “I get a real sense of satisfaction in establishing a buyer’s needs and then surpassing those requirements and expectations whilst delivering excellent customer service,” said Oliver, who now lives in Hoole with his wife and two cats, Poppy and Matilda. “I became an estate agent in 2001 working as a sales negotiator for an agent in Lancaster, where I went to

university. I continued working for the same company but in different offices over the next 11 years and worked my way up in the business to senior sales negotiator, marketing advisor and eventually branch manager. “My most recent roles where in North Wales, as the branch manager of offices in Flint, then Rhyl. I was extremely proud to be able to take both of these struggling offices from a loss making position to making a healthy profit within three years.” Oliver, who studied environmental chemistry at university, decided to take a career break last year and travelled for eight months before joining Jones & Chapman upon his return. He said: “I left in August 2012

to go backpacking around South East Asia, New Zealand and South America. I was fortunate to be offered a branch manager position with Jones & Chapman within a few weeks of returning home.” There’s been a distinct improvement in the market in the last eight months too, as Oliver explains: “Before I left in August 2012 we were experiencing a very difficult market which had been struggling for a number of years. Since my return, I’ve noticed a real difference in the marketplace – there’s a definite upturn in activity, not only in terms of new properties coming to the market, but also applicant numbers and viewings. This is for a number of reasons, not least a general feeling of
