Mark Thomas: Trespass Trespass carries on from where Mark’s previous show 100 Acts of Minor Dissent left off. It is his usual odd mix of theatre, stand up, activism, a dash of journalism and dollop of mayhem. Mark asks the question: If the ramblers of the 1930’s were here now what would they do to open up the cities? How do we turn the skyscrapers and corporate squares into our playgrounds? He sets out to try and carve a small space in the urban world where mischief and random chance can lurk. No one knows where this show is going to end up. everymanplayhouse.com/mark-thomas 4

“This is an inspiring, entertaining evening, full of underlying truths about what it is to be human.” The Telegraph on Stories From An Invisible Town The Duke is a funny and poignant show which playfully mixes fantasy and reality, taking audiences on an imaginative and touching journey which gently challenges us to consider our priorities in a world full of crisis. "In 1974 my father invested £750 (£8,100 in today’s money) in a Royal Worcester porcelain figure of The Duke of Wellington on horseback - made to celebrate his victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo. He kept the figure we affectionately called The Duke, wrapped in sponge, in a big box, under his bed. After he died in 2001, my mother decided to take the figure out and display it on the table in the bay window. Since 2005 I’ve been working on a film script which is in the very final stages of development. In the autumn of 2015 I sit at my desk waiting for an email that will tell me what I need to do to the script to get it onto the screen. I turn the radio on. I listen to a report about the refugee crisis. My mother calls. She tells me she’s broken The Duke. My mother, my film script and the refugee crisis all need my attention."

The Persistence of an Unlikely Thought A new show by Daniel Kitson
A few years ago, quite suddenly, I thought of something. Something unlikely. An implausible story about a mouse. Since then, whenever starting a new show, faced with the empty page and the endless possibility and the looming deadline I have tried and failed to find a way of telling that particular story. Every structural gambit or presentational conceit feeling both oddly insufficient and insufficiently odd. And so, every time, eventually, I’ve abandoned the mouse and I’ve moved on. I’ve had a different idea, for a different story and I’ve written a different show.

This time was no different, again I wanted to tell that story and again I didn’t know how. And then, quite suddenly, I thought of something else. Something equally unlikely. An implausible story about a phone call. And here we are. Daniel Kitson – London – 17th February 2015 Currently thirty eight years old and still not entirely bald, Daniel Kitson returns to the Everyman Theatre with a massive white board (possibly), an angle poise lamp (probably) and the world premiere (definitely) of a brand new show about, friendship and loneliness, doubt and hope, a mouse, a phone call and the unfathomable repercussions of everything we ever do. Spymonkey will perform them all - sometimes lingeringly, sometimes messily, sometimes movingly, sometimes musically, always hysterically. The four ‘seriously, outrageously, cleverly funny clowns’ (Time Magazine) will scale the peaks of sublime poetry, and plumb the depths of darkest depravity. It may even be the death of them. Directed by Tim Crouch (I, Malvolio, An Oak Tree, Adler & Gibb), The Complete Deaths will be a solemn, sombre and sublimely funny tribute to the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England Developed at The Other Place at the RSC, and supported by the MA Dramatic Writing Lab at Drama Centre London at Central Saint Martins. The Merry Wives By William Shakespeare Northern Broadsides in partnership with the New Vic Theatre, Newcastle under Lyme Directed by Barrie Rutter Designed by Lis Evans Lighting Designed by Adam Foley Music by Conrad Nelson
Sir John Falstaff is past-his-prime and skint! Vain rogue that he is, he attempts, rather clumsily, to seduce a couple of well-to-do wives… but Mistress Page and Mistress Ford get wise to his plan and scheme to exact revenge with hilarious and unimaginable consequences. If you like your Shakespeare light, funny and wickedly entertaining then look no further. The Merry Wives is bursting at the seams with verbal fun, physical comedy and a bevy of cunningly colourful characters. Northern Broadsides’ distinctive charisma and zest for performance squeezes every last ounce of comedy gold from this affectionately calamitous tale that will tickle your funny bone and poke a jovial finger in the eye of middle England.

“It’s not good, gentlemen. That’s why I’ve gathered you all here. An inspector is coming…a government inspector!”
Ticket prices* £24 - £9.50
The mayor is in a cold sweat. News has reached him of an imminent visit from a government inspector. His fear is wellfounded as he has been somewhat lacking in his official duties: the hospital’s a health hazard, the school’s a war zone, the soldiers don’t have trousers to march in and he never quite got around to finishing his building programme.
All performances are fully accessible including a creative combination of sign language, audio description and captioning.
The mayor and his bureaucrats need a way to resolve this disastrous situation. When a case of mistaken identity leads to matters spiralling out of control, surely the only reasonable solution is bribery?

The Merchant of Venice By William Shakespeare Globe Theatre on Tour Directed by Jonathan Munby Designed by Mike Britton Composed by Jules Maxwell Choreography by Lucy Hind Cast: Stefan Adegbola, Christopher Logan, Brian Martin, Rachel Pickup, Jonathan Pryce & Phoebe Pryce
I will not hear thee speak; I’ll have my bond. Portia, a wealthy heiress of Belmont, sets her suitors a challenge. The winner will win her hand in marriage; the losers will lose her hand and much more. In Venice, the epicentre of consumption, speculation and debt, Bassanio borrows money from his friend Antonio to finance his attempt. Antonio, in turn, takes out a loan from the moneylender Shylock. The loan will be repaid when Antonio’s ships return to the city. But if they should fail, and the money cannot be repaid, Antonio shall give to Shylock a pound of his own flesh. And they do fail. And Shylock will have his “bond”. In some of his most highly-charged scenes, Shakespeare dramatizes the competing claims of tolerance and intolerance, religious law and civil society, justice and mercy; while in the character of Shylock he created one of the most memorable outsiders in all theatre. “Jonathan Munby’s oak-solid, finely weighted production… The lighter and darker elements combine in a seamless whole” The Telegraph “Jonathan Munby’s clear-headed production” The Independent “Jonathan Pryce displays a finely textured Shylock” Financial Times

The Complete Walk The Globe marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death as part of Shakespeare 400 with an event to celebrate the scale and reach of his imagination, his life and his legacy. Commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe, The Complete Walk is a series of 37 short films, one for each of Shakespeare’s plays, to be shown in venues throughout the city centre including the Everyman and Playhouse.
At the heart of each film will be some of the great scenes from Shakespeare’s plays, shot in the place hovering in his imagination when he wrote them.
