Mill Creek Breeding Guarantee: We guarantee that all breeding cattle sold by Mill Creek Ranch, both bulls and females, are fertile to the best of our knowledge. To guarantee buyer satisfaction, if a bull purchased from Mill Creek is injured at any time within a year of purchase, so as to make them functionally infertile, we will provide a satisfactory replacement (if available), or issue credit at a future Mill Creek sale equal to the bull’s purchase price less the salvage value. If a female is determined to be a non-breeder, we would offer a credit in any future Mill Creek sale for the difference between her purchase price less the salvage value. If a problem arises, please contact Mill Creek before you cull the animal so arrangements can be made. This guarantee will not replace a dead animal if it is killed or dies for any reason. We suggest that normal care needs to be exercised for any animal purchased and that yearling bulls not be allowed to get too thin. Bull Management All breeding bulls were developed at the ranch on a prairie hay, silage, alfalfa hay and distillers ration. During their 90 day gain trial they were fed to have a target ADG of 3.0 lbs/day. We feel that this bull development strategy lets you identify the genetic potential of the individual lot without sacrificing fertility or soundness.
Performance: Complete performance records and carcass ultrasound information on the fall born bulls is in the catalog. Carcass ultrasound information and yearling performance on the spring born lots will be on the supplement sheet. All bulls will pass a BSE exam prior to the sale. Customer Bull Feeding Buyers may leave any bull purchased at this sale at Mill Creek Ranch through May 1, 2015. If you choose this option, buyers will need to insure the animal(s) for the purchase value for the duration of the stay. Feed/ yardage will be $3.00/day. Any bull bringing $5,000 or more will be cared for free of charge until May 1 as long as he is insured.
Possession Retained Unless otherwise stated in the catalog Mill Creek Ranch is retaining 1/4 semen interest in all Hereford bulls and a 1/3 semen interest in all Angus bulls offered in this sale. Mill Creek Ranch will retain no possession in any of the bull lots. The buyer will receive full possession and 100% of any salvage value of any bull purchased from Mill Creek in the spring 2015 sale. 2

What is Maternal Plus?
MaternalPlus Program Information
Purpose: Provides a voluntary, inventory-based reporting system. Captures reproductive trait data. Ultimately creates reproductive selection tools. Highlights: Voluntary system Inventory based Current AHIR reporting remains in place for non-participants Selection criteria and recognition of classic Pathfinder animals remain unchanged. Other Details: Breeders can enroll at any time. Each breeder has an assessment anniversary date based on their initial enrollment. Females 20 months and older are assessed an annual $3 inventory fee at enrollment time. The fee includes performance reporting for the cow’s calf in the coming year. Payment for enrolled females is due at enrollment and at subsequent anniversaries. Enrollees have 30 days to pay their balance or the program enrollment is cancelled. ET calves are charged $3 per head and weaning unless the recipient dam is in the inventory. Inventory reconcilliation allows for cow disposal/reason designations. At weaning, the calf EPDs for Calving Ease Direct, Birth Wt and Weaning Wt are provided. AAA Login is the venue for accessing inventory counts for assessment fees.
A profitable cow herd begins with efficient females. But how can producers receive the most out of reproductive trait data? The answer is MaternalPlus. MaternalPlus provides Angus breeders and their customers the information they need to make effective selection decisions. It’s a voluntary, inventorybased reporting system designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and, ultimately, expand reproductive and lifetime productivity tools. By using MaternalPlus, producers will receive additional information at weaning processing time, including calving ease, birth weight and weaning weight EPDs for calves out of inventoried cows. In addition, MaternalPlus allows producers to submit cow disposal codes and reason designations, which keeps an accurate record of why a cow was culled. Angus breeds can include their heifer breeding records and calf records in the MaternalPlus reporting system with AAA Login at www.angus.org.

The extra dollars at the wholesale level build strong demand for high-quality cattle and translate into signficant grid premiums. For the CAB component alone, licensed packers have paid producers $352 million in grid premiums since 1998. Producers of high-quality Angus cattle can capture their share, by retaiing ownership through the finishing phase and marketing on a quality-based grid. The Facts * The Choice-Select spread is a demand indicator for high-quality beef. When you take that one step further and look at the additional premiums paid for higher quality boxed beef, like CAB, there is a clear demand calling for more cattle that can hit premium targets. * Meat reporting authority Urner Barry quotes a CAB cutout in its weekly Yellow Sheet. It began tracking wholesale CAB prices more than a decade ago, when buyers asked for a dependable gauge more specific than the USDA Branded Programs quote. * Boxed beef price is the estimated wholesale value of the entire carcass, combining subprimal values into one price. * Even wehn the Choice-Select spread narrows, the CAB-Choice spread generally remains strong. * From July 2010 to July 2012, the average CAB premium over Select was $15.31/cwt., with a high of more than twice that amount. * At wholesale, an average 1,307-lb.
