OBJECTIVE — Cover design for the classic
Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. The goal for this project is to keep away from the classic or child-like appearance for the design, targeting the book for teenagers and young adults. Each piece has different themes to matches each month’s day/occasion. SOLUTIONspecial — Combining photo and rough lettering to gives off the feeling of recklessness and adventure, which is the main characteristics of Alice. The lettering used in this work is a simple hand-written lettering, made with drawing pen and brush pen.

OBJECTIVE — The art of weaving is a cul-
tural aspect that is still very influential in East Nusa Tenggara, including on the island of Flores. These skills are passed down from generation to generation on Flores women. The project is to create a new display typeface inspired by the motifs/patterns found in Flores woven fabric. SOLUTION — Taken from the Sikka lan-
guage, “Loru” means weaving. To create this typeface, the simplified shapes from Sikka and Manggarai pattern were combined with type, creating a geometric based typeface with an ethnic characteristic.
