The Corbin building is located at the corner where fortune meets creativity. Right opposite from the elegant touch of Calatrava’s World Trade Centre Station, blocks away from Wall Street where the most important financial market ambitiously runs in its daily routine, the Corbin building is faced with a prosperous hood. It is expected to adapt into a promising future, with its historical composition adaptively reused.
Apart from the residential programs composed of studios, one-bedroom and two bedroom units targeting the energetic young professionals with metropolitan lifestyles, the new building accommodates a public common space connected to the traffic station in the Fulton Center as well as the private residential part of the building. It is designed to be ‘An Open Creativity Expo for the Neighborhood’, concentrating New York’s creativity, as well as transferring these creativities into commerce and business. The Expo space offers an affordable public area for start-up designers in technology and design industries to launch new products and set up pop-up stores, exhibits and runways, giving them possibilities to be seen by the public. Meanwhile, the neighborhood could enjoy the fun of the weekend fair and designer market, spending time staying here while passing by this busy transportation junction, to discover their new beloved items in those exhibit booths.

The facade strategy offers directionality and different interrelationship of the openings of the building, creating a showcase-like elevation, providing borderless views and natural lighting for the residents living inside.
