eauty comes from the inside, no doubt about it. But beyond a sunny disposition, how you feed and take care of your body is reflected clearly on your skin as well. In fact, the skin is your largest organ; It’s responsible for protecting you, helping with elimination of waste through your sweat, and is often the first place to show signs of inflammation in the body. The beauty industry sells us billions of dollars in chemical based skin care products every year, but have you thought about what you’re eating? Adding these simple, delicious foods will support your skin’s function and keep you looking radiant, youthful and, well, all around beautiful!

A fresh green juice is like a powerful liquid multivitamin full of minerals, chlorophyll and antioxidants as well. Besides its hydrating benefits, the lack of fibre in the juice allows for nutrients to be absorbed quicker, straight into the bloodstream and out to your cells. Not a fan of juicing but want to get the benefits of all those healthy greens, try adding a scoop of Greens to your favourite smoothie.

You can find raw sauerkraut and kim chi in most health food stores these days— look for it in the refrigerator. Or, for an even better and more affordable option, just make your own Kim Chi!
Our skin needs fat in order to stay hydrated and glowing. Avocados are nature’s own moisturiser, rich in healthy fatty acids, but don’t stop with just the guacamole! Make an avocado face mask and get the benefits both inside and out. Mash ½ a soft avocado with fotolia a fork. Stir together 1 tbsp raw honey with 2 tbsp of hot water and add to the avocado to create a rich mask. Apply to your face (avoid the eyes), let it do its magic for 10 minutes, and enjoy a refreshed face.
