Architecture Awards and Qualifications PAVE the Way 3D Design Challenge One of 12 finalists in international design competition. Incorporated natural materials used in Bob Marley headphones to design a stand-alone retail fixture. Post-retail display transforms into a rolling credenza and the graphic poster will be sold with proceeds donated to the Marley 1Love.org charity. Hotel & Sky Garden Competition International design competition, Fall 2012.
Project Requirements: Design a skyscraper to revitalize the Manhattanville New York City neighborhood. Must include a sky garden and hotel; office space is highly recommended.
Team Concept: Weave adjacent Riverside Park and urban environment of 125th Ave. into a multi-use skyscraper. Elements of an urban park form an organic street that travels through the building. It invites people from the business, residential, and commercial markets. People experience gardens on each level and can freely travel through the building to the main sky garden. PAVE the Way 3D Design Challenge International design competition sponsored by Van Stry Design. One of 12 Finalists. Full-scale fixture will be built and displayed at the GlobalShop conference in April 16-18, 2013. Project: Design a stand-alone store fixture to market an current brand of headphone. Maximum footprint 36 x 36 x 84 in. tall.
Concept: Created a stand-alone fixture using the natural materials found in Bob Marley Exodus headphones. The fixture transforms into a rolling credenza or table. xs Haus Project Statement: Design a 750 square foot “xtra small� house to support the storage and entertainment requirements of the owners. The residence must provide adequate space for 2,500 books, a 6-burner stove, and displays for pottery and tapestries. It must also provide adaquate storage for photography and artwork. Rails to Trails Project Requirement: Develop a site along a sevenmile stretch of an abandoned Cincinnati railroad.
Self-designed Program: Convert an abandoned rail yard into a Community Center for a Cincinnati neighborhood. Project presented to Wasson Way founder.
Concept: Designed a multipurpose gymnasium, learning resource center, outdoor roof patio, and community skatepark that incorporated the existing loading docks. By utilizing the original building, the design maintains a sense of place and history, and joins Xavier University and the Norwood and Evanston neighborhoods. Sustainability in Malta Summer Studio: Attended the 15th Annual International Passive House Conference in Innsbruck, Austria. Applied Passive House design strategies to analyze thermal properties of a Maltese farmhouse. Utilized Heat 2 thermal imaging software to analyze the differences between Passive House standards and typical U.S. construction techniques. 406 Sustainable Design Course. Emphasis on passive and low-energy design strategies. Discussion based course including a final project to improve an architectural detail following passive house standards, and then construct the improved design as a full-scale mock up. Concept: Concept includes a children’s level dedicated to before- and after-school programs. Overall design incorporates a mediacentered lobby and an upper level outdoor reading patio. Study Pavilion Project: Design a study pavilion on Miami University’s western campus using Archibald MacLeish’s Ars Poetica as inspiration.
Concept: The design invites people to study, relax, and rejuvenate. It hovers slightly, allowing occupants to hear the trickling sound of the creek below. It features a rain collection system that feeds a small garden box. Three member team project. 211 Introduction to Landscape & Urban Design, Spring 2011. Peace Pavilion and Bridge Project: Design a complex to host peace accords. Site bounded by the Miami and Mad Rivers, Dayton Ohio.
Concept: The Peace Pavilion Armistice Hall is flooded with natural light. It is located on the second story as an icon for visitors. The bridge connects the community to the adjacent Peace Pavilion. The ribbons are a unique design element that serve as shading devices at the four pedestrian gathering spots. Individual project. 201 Design Studio, Fall 2010.
