Summer Thunderstorms come up quickly... I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress. My God, in whom I trust [with great confidence, and on whom I rely]!” Psalm 91:2

Summer thunderstorms can come up quickly, taking us by surprise. A sunny horizon suddenly turns dark and threatening. Looming clouds move in making circumstances look desperate for a time. But, what a view after the storm passes. Rays of brilliant sun shoot out from behind gray clouds. A rainbow arcs across the sky providing a hopeful reminder of God’s promise. Our lives can look desperate when conflict brews in the background like a summer thunderstorm. We try to prepare for what might happen, similar to precautions taken when a weather report warns of an approaching pattern. The forecaster’s concerned voice describes potential danger while we watch the developing scene outside. Rain pings against the windowpane. Lightning flashes like rocket flares. We expect the worst, anticipating the cleanup job awaiting us when it’s over. Have you ever stepped outside just after a rainstorm? The air is filled with the pungent scent of trees and sweet wildflowers as relief replaces fear. Everything feels fresh and brand new. Your senses drink in the surroundings like a sip of cool water from a mountain spring. Life feels good again. That’s how our Heavenly Father helps us through storms arising in our live

All About the Table Magazine-2024-Summer-07

...but what a view after the Storm! A tempest emerges, swirling around, upsetting everything we’ve carefully put into place. Life feels disheveled and hard to bear. Rest assured it’s only for a short time. But while the storm is raging, God holds us in His secret place. He covers and protects us until it blows over. Afterward, there is sweet refreshing. Darkness that looked like disaster has been dispelled. It’s easy to breathe again. You may be experiencing a harrowing storm in life. Cover is difficult to find as bolts of hurtful words and actions from others shoot toward you like lightning and thunder. Run into His protection. He will hold you safe in His secret place and quieten your surroundings. When the storm passes, allow Jesus to revitalize your life as only He can do. Lean on and trust in Him. He will make all things new concerning you like the refreshing that comes after a summer storm.

Pray with me:

Dear Lord, Thank you for your provision and protection! You are always near watching over us. You give your angels charge over us, to protect and defend. Even in the darkest times, we can rest assured you’re near. You have promised in Your Word that you will never leave us nor forsake us. Help us to stay in faith, not giving in to bad news the enemy uses to try to get us into fear. We love you, Lord. Amen All About the Table Magazine-2024-Summer-08

America’s Fruited Plain

All About the Table Magazine-2024-Summer=16

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL “O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!” Take inspiration from the “Land of Liberty” quilt and create a tablescape for the 4th of July. With the focus on America the Beautiful, a fresh fruit red, white and blue centerpiece complimented the dinnerware and lovely quilt. The quilt was a surprise gift from my niece, and quilter Chris Noel. She carefully pieced and coordinated the fabrics then quilted the pieces together. It was made with “Lot’s of Love!” Lot’s of Love has special meaning for Chris as these words were pinned on hand written notes by her beloved grandmother. In honor of her grandmother Chris named her quilting business “Lot’s of Love.” If you love quilts, contact Chris for information and quilting needs.

Show off your Patriotic spirit with this beautiful floral centerpiece you can make at dawn’s early light...the day of event. Cover a 7" x 7" plastic bucket with brown paper. extend paper 1" inside bucket, tape down. Place wet floral foam block inside bottom of bucket. This will hold green floral sticks with wired fruit that will hang over the sides of the bucket. Place bucket on firm plate for transporting to table. Start with large firm strawberries & tomatoes on the vine. Cut 10" pieces of 24"gauge wire, insert into back side of each berry or fruit, loop wire to secure fruits. All About the Table Magazine-2024-Summer-20

Red, White and Bloom!

Extend wired fruit over side of bucket so fruit hangs at desired length covering the sides of bucket. Wrap end of wire around 6" floral stick and insert into floral foam inside bucket. Continue with each piece of fruit building layers of fruit around the bucket.Fruit includes, strawberries, medium tomatoes, cherries, and concord grapes. Cluster grapes with wire and pick. Insert clusters close to the top of the bucket like they are spilling over the other fruits. You can use wooden skewers in addition to floral sticks. Fill bucket with water up to 2" from the top and arrange fresh greenery or 3-5 white hydrangeas, red roses and carnations, hypericum berries and extra greenery for filling in open spaces. Tip: Make this centerpiece early in the day of your event, as the fruit will not last more than a day especially for outdoor events. Mist fruit with cool water to keep looking fresh. Use firm fruit or veggies for this arrangement. After event make cobbler or crisp using fruit except for grapes. Inspired by Bouquets-Laura Dowling, Former White House Chief Florist.
