MAKING FAMILY LIFE BETTER
PUBLISHER
FROM LIZ: We were ready to hand off Kidsguide to the printer when the Stay-at-Home order was issued. Geez. We had a book filled with things to do with kids and families that would all be temporarily closed or even canceled until…
28 35 64 65 ARTSGUIDE 36-41 EDUCATIONGUIDE 41-48 FAMILYGUIDE 48-53 PARTYGUIDE 53-56 SPORTSGUIDE 56-64
We thought about reinventing our content, but saw parents bombarded by the challenges of this new normal…having to be parents, teachers, workers––basically everything––under one roof that may or may not contain toilet paper. It is more than remarkable what you all have done in this short time to nurture and care for your children. You are our true heros (see page 28, every one of those statements is true!). Instead, we decided to offer hope––65 pages of it. Things will get better. We will get to go outside, play in the park, visit a museum, and do all the summery things we love. We want you to be ready. Use this issue as your idea jar. (Click here for awesome instructions on making one.) Then, fill the jar with places and activities that will make your kids happy. Have them do their own picking––they may surprise you. When you identify what your family is interested in, check their website for virtual offerings––some are so creative. That way you can test drive their activities, stay up-to-date on registration, and what type of program changes you can expect. Hope goes a long way.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing health climate in our community, everything is changing daily: services, programs, events, destination availability. It’s everyone’s hope that the amazing activities and services our community offers kids and families will be back up and running soon. But what they will look like, we don’t know yet. If you are interested in a program or service listed in Kidsguide, make sure you know before you go! Visit their website, follow them on social media, or give them a call to check for updates. Ask if they have alternative programs (maybe virtual) and what safety precautions they are taking. Use this issue as a chance to plan for the better days ahead… they are coming.

My home is a safe place. I am resilient and can get through anything. I am exactly who my kid needs. I am grateful for the time I have with my kids today. My greatest contribution to the world may not be something I do, but someone I raise. Taking care of myself is part of taking care of my family. I am a leader to my children. My home is full of love and joy. I do what it takes to give the best to my family. I am my children’s rock. My little family is the best team I could ever have. I am making happy memories with my child. Everything I do serves a purpose for my family. My kids trust me and look up to me. I am a great role model for my children. I deserve time to myself. Parenthood is not easy, but I can do it. My family and I are in this together, we got this! I am leaving a legacy of love. If at the end of the day, everyone feels loved, I have done enough.
