9. External Work - A study of Bella Swan, based on a still from the movie ‘Breaking Dawn Part 1’, created in pencil and digitally framed.
10. ‘What Makes Us’ Brief - An observational study of a woman using pencil and digitally framed.
11. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A pen and ink profile drawing of celebrity Steve Jobs, founder of Apple Inc. The texturing of the pen nib provides movement within the drawing, emulating the creative thought processes used to design such a successful brand of electronics.
12. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A lino print of historic dictator Joseph Stalin based on the concept of modern day propaganda posters. The red and black colour scheme is symbolic of traditional communist colours and provides maximum contrast.
13. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A doll representing the pressures facing both celebrities and the public to obtain the ‘perfect’ body as outlined by the media in society today. The measuring tape cutting into the fabric emphasises the lengths to which many people go to achieve this.
14. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - An acrylic painting of celebrity Amy Winehouse based on a paparazzi photograph. The deliberately exaggerated features and blotchy colour scheme emphasises the effects of drug and alcohol abuse which is a common problem in celebrity culture.
15. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A modern day propaganda poster outlining the negative implications of Kim Jong Un’s communist leadership over North Korea. The strap line ‘Just Nuke It’ is a parody of ‘Just Do It’ from Nike, as Kim Jong Un has a large collection of this brand of American footwear.
16. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A doll constructed in the Model Making workshop from found objects responding to the text ‘Grandpa’s Tales’ by Ivor Cutler. The modern style bra contrasting with the sagging breasts suggest an ageing celebrity desperate to remain youthful.
17. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - An acrylic painting of celebrity Britney Spears based on a paparazzi photograph. The monochromatic colour scheme provides maximum impact to mirror the raw anger in her facial features as this moment was captured.
18. ILL454 ‘Creative Practice’ - A modern day propaganda poster outlining the negative implications of American consumerist society. The strap line ‘Just Consume It’ is a parody of ‘Just Do It’ from Nike, representing how western culture has become unhealthily devoted to materialistic designer brands.
