Foundation year degrees

I knew I wanted to study at LJMU due to the great quality of courses that they provide. I certainly made the right choice to study here as I cannot picture myself studying anywhere else besides Liverpool. I believe that with commitment and dedication this course will provide a strong foundation for my career. Everyone here is friendly, and the opportunities for experience and studying overseas is great. This certainly inspires and excites me as I wish to travel and teach around the world.

DEGREES WITH A FOUNDATION YEAR

THE PERFECT STEPPING STONE INTO HIGHER EDUCATION

If you have the ambition and drive to study for a degree, but you don’t have the required entry qualifications, or you are a mature student returning to education, a degree with a foundation year could be for you. A foundation year is an additional year of study at the start of your course. It is designed to provide you with a strong foundation of subject knowledge and the academic skills needed to progress onto your chosen honours degree.

HOW IT WORKS

You will enrol onto a fouryear undergraduate degree programme, or five-year if you choose to undertake a sandwich year, with the first year being a foundation year. Once you pass the foundation year, you will then progress directly onto the first year of your chosen honours degree, without the need to reapply.

A foundation year at LJMU can offer a supportive introduction to university life. Find out more by visiting: ljmu.ac.uk/foundation
