PERSONAL STATEMENTS

I am a student majoring in display design learning a series of content about how to plan an exhibition and design a display hall concerning commercialization. The content strongly related to museum, art gallery and exhibition hall. But actually I am very interested in indoor design, especially the use of new structure and special materials. Usually I contemplate what is indoor design on earth and what problems it can solve in future.

There are a lot of problems in current social life and surroundings, such as that glacier melting on large scale in Greenland located within the Arctic Circle leading to higher oceans, which means that glacier maybe disappear permanently after years and further land disappearance due to higher oceans caused by that. So I hold my love for indoor design, wondering that what I can do for the society, what I can change to help the world or what indoor design can impact on earth if I function exquisite space structure and special materials.

With that, the design portfolio embodies all my thoughts, my space design and all my doubts towards the world.

According to the research, amphibious animals’ lifestyles can fight to the maximum. Argyroneta aquatica have special physical structure can complete gas exchange to assure the supply of oxygen. But that nitrogen concentration following gas exchange can shrink the web we need to solve. The so-called nonspecific inhabits mean that I can live anywhere carrying my house and living in it, which sounds like nails and their shells.

I found an amazing animal while thinking about this problem, it is the diving bell spider.

I hope to take advantage of the webs to conduct biomimetic combination design based on my recognition of argyroneta aquatica to achieve the purpose of human beings’ amphibian living.

Wrapped in the web of a diving bell spider to form a bubble-like space to obtain oxygen so that people can live under the sea for a long time, and combined with other flexible materials to make the whole building malleable deformable but not easy to break, and adaptable to dock anywhere. Unfortunately, these webs shrink with time due to nitrogen diffusion and therefore, the spider can not dwell permanently underwater. So I have researched this and come up with my own ideas and solutions.

According to the study, I discovered that blue-green algae have strongly effective nitrogen fixation results and I decided to utilize that to control nitrogen concentration within the protective film.

Magnetic liquids can offer magnetic suspension technique, which is almost no harm to human body and can be used to eliminate friction.

I made the models with my hands and tested my dynamic structure. Having no access to buying magnetic liquids and that solid magnet can not satisfy my need, I hung the build-in balls using fish tape to form dynamic structure virtually.

I redesigned the inner configuration of a blind date corner in this project. There are a load of side people nowadays, who refer to a kind of transformative personality formed in synchronic geo-immigration or diachronic changes of society. A vast majority of them have a lower demand for lovers for the sake of over-independent individuality so they do not have reproduction companies when they are of marriage age contributing to the decrease of legitimate fertility rate. A plenty of side people were found in blind date corners within Chinese parks according to my research and observation.

I came to a famous park blind date corner in Wuhan of China to conduct a study in flesh. I discovered by doing observation and interview that blind date type is too single and facilities in the place are shabby and worn-out, it being hard for people to yield some fabulous love feelings in such surroundings. For what, I utilized Two Factor theory of Emotion to make people easier yield adoring feelings and applied special materials such as glass fiber to indoor architecture design, taking advantage of the translucent texture of it combining with Chinese traditional hand-knitting craft to dim the separation wall, which can narrow the distance among people and eliminate the gap between persons who are having blind date.

I chose the blind date corner in Wuhan Zhongshan Park of Hubei as where I would conduct study. It is located in downtown of Wuhan with developed traffic, by which people can easily get there and it is surrounded by commercial area, official building, residential area and college town with abundant and comprehensive audience groups.

There were more elderlies in the blind date corner while it is youths that have the demand of making friends. Unwilling were youngsters to go that almost their parents do the going for them.

Information in the blind date corner was sticked up disorderly leading to people not directly get the most accurate information, making blind date lowefficiency.

Most youngsters hold prejudice over blind date corner thinking it is embarrassing to get there and a way of wasting time to have blind date.

Glass fiber is commonly used in society dur to its fabulous work and utility, which is also used for configuration arts, manicure arts and knitting.

The final results as well got impressive, but it was a pity the needle is a little bit wide that it was hard to tie a knot resulting in failing to be an intact workpiece.

I chose Two Lanes of Yulin in Sichuan to start it that is extremely representative. It locates in a place near the downtown and people living here are diverse, not only do who include indigenous elderlies and children but also youngsters seeking for renting houses because of high price of renting the apartment. This is as well a place keeping the most original look of Sichuan that it nearly becomes a sightseeing spot.

Many elderly people and children like to be outside, especially every year there are a lot of tourists here, increasing the demand for outdoor activities.

Since this alley is close to the city center, many young people who work in the city center rent here because of the cheap rent of the old houses.

Indigenous people like outdoor activities but there is frequent rain in Sichuan and no shelters from wind and rain.

The eaves we talked before are nominal that include three main elements: mortise-tenon connection, wood and transparent glass material. Eaves which include these are the most suitable for architecture in a sense from my perspective and my design will unfold concerning these.
