Filming 01/02/15 Locations: Gifford House, Winchester St. Catherine’s Hill, Winchester
Gifford House, Winchester Due to the lack of narrative that my film has, the film students and I discussed options to bring in more of a story to make the film flow. We considered using a house in order to create a starting point for our film, and it would also allow us a variation of location, as the Motocross idea didn’t work out. The house we used is called Gifford House in Winchester; convenient for us as St. Catherine’s Hill is also situated in Winchester. Gifford House is a large modern mansion, which fitted the ideal target customer perfectly. We had the idea to have the model getting ready to go out and having stunning shots to pad out the film some more. The film student, Conor, explained ways that we could flash back into the house whilst the story progresses to thicken out the film. I took some stills of the house to give a photographic feel of the location.
St. Catherine’s Hill Since the first brief that we had for this project, I had St. Catherine’s Hill in my head for a location. I built my idea and chose my brand based on the hill due to its pure natural beauty. St. Catherine’s Hill, situated in Winchester, is part of the South Downs National Park and provides miles of views over the hills and over Winchester itself. The main feature that I wanted to incorporate in my film were the steps that run from the bottom of the hill to the forests found at the top. These stairs are so aesthetically pleasing and they will add more of a narrative to my film as the model works his way up the stairs. The steps will give the film an idea of a destination that we can follow on the storyboard.
