Perhaps specialneeds infants were easier to rationalize and deal with if they were regarded as faery changelings. This is not to suggest that all incidences can be explained away. However, faeries are not to be feared and placated as once thought, nor should they be overly sentimentalized or viewed as playthings. Like any type of being they deserve respect. Furthermore, through honesty and maturity, we can establish a meaningful connection and relationship with them.
