About the Author

Ed Fitch is one of the founders and major scholars of modern Paganism. Initiated into Gardnerian Wicca during the mid-1960s, he has continually added to the existing background lore on Wicca and mainstream Paganism, and is widely considered to be one of the best and most influential writers of rituals in the U.S. today. His ceremonies are poetic reconstructions of ancient rites in a modern and magical form, using original material researched from historical, anthropological, and literary sources worldwide.

The son of parents from a Russian immigrant community, Ed traveled widely as a boy, living in construction camps in the Southwest desert, mining camps in the West, on a ranch far back in the northern California wilderness, on a farm in Virginia, and on an old southern estate near Washington D.C. As an Air Force officer he traveled the world before settling down into a civilian job as an aerospace engineer in Southern California.
