MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION

MESSAGE

Dear Friends,

FROM THE FOUNDATION

As we reflect on 2019, we would be remiss to overlook the impacts of current events in our community, healthcare system and across the world. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our daily lives and has certainly impacted our healthcare delivery system, including high demand for protective equipment for staff, testing and action by staff to ensure adequate infection control following the global onset. Amidst these challenges, our top priority at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital remains the health and safety of our community. We are continually inspired by our patients and hope that the stories within these pages brighten your spirits.

In the middle of this pandemic, our staff has remained focused on our goals for patient safety and quality and we are excited to announce that the American Nursing Credentialing Center has granted Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Magnet status! It is humbling to see the years of hard work and dedication from our nursing teams officially recognized as the gold standard along with only 9% of more than 6,000 healthcare organizations. The Magnet Recognition Program designates organizations worldwide where nursing leaders successfully align their nursing strategic goals to improve the organization’s patient outcomes. As part of this designation, we received eight quality indicators that outperform the national benchmark and two exemplars in the area of “New Knowledge, Innovations, and Improvements.” Thank you for joining us on our Magnet journey and a big congratulations to our clinical teams on this accomplishment!

Your support enables us to make great strides in caring for children spanning from the Temecula to Coachella Valleys. While growth and added services continue at our off-site locations, we anticipate the open date of the new Children’s Tower to be summer 2021. Our clinical teams are busy carefully planning every move of equipment and workflow for a seamless transition. This expansion into our new space will be momentous as we open the San Manuel Maternity Pavilion and our dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department.

Thank you for standing by us as we work to keep the mothers and children of the Inland Empire healing, healthy and happy.

Sincerely,

Scott Perryman Senior Vice President and Administrator Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Andy Carpiac 2019 Foundation Board Chair
