adaptable ramp lighting for extra guidance & interactivity

Today, users are often removed from their physical surroundings to a digital 2D world. I enjoy researching users to design with Floor Plan‐ Level 3 an informed biophillic approach to counter the digital dominance and create a more humanist quality in space. Sheet Title:

Thesis: Restorative environments, veterans, and PTSD In designing an environment for returning combat veterans with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder,) my approach propositioned the creation of significant and meaningful relationships among people, therapy, service animals, and the environment. Users need to be able to preserve personal relationships, communicate freely and openly, be informed and aware of opportunities, and utilize the aid of therapy and service dogs. Architecture will not heal their PTSD, but biophilic design, spatial awareness, and design for therapy animals can create a restorative environment to promote relaxation and selective thinking while assimilating to civilian life. To this end, the relationships between architecture, landscape, micro-climatic conditions, and material enable the potential of less functionally programmed spaces that contribute to the healing process.

Foundation for New Music To design the Foundation for New Music, I focused on designing around the previous structure of a 3 floor, 14,500sf, 180 column factory. This linear design led to strategic “bombing to create a multi-story openings where natural light and music can fuse together.

East Garfield Park Community Centers After researching the low-income, high-crime neighborhood of East Garfield Park, I learned that the community would benefit from a local day care. Not only would this help create jobs, it enlivens this neighborhood frequented by static activity. I tried to mirror the day care’s dynamic activty by mirroring it in the architecture’s design by featuring a tensile structure.

CTA Circle Line Extension

plaza

In an interdisciplinary team, we redesigned the Division Blue Line “L” and the planned 2030 Circle Line “L” stations. We proposed that in the future, public transportation will be a space where work, community, and recreation would not be distinct activities, but would blend together. This station will preserve public space, promote positive loitering, and feature activated and interactive spaces. Collaboration with M.Arch Francoise Schmidt & M.DDO Nathan D. Poletta
