Dear Provider: I am writing to let you know about important news concerning Denton Regional Medical Center. For many years, our hospital has been proud to deliver thousands of the county’s newest citizens. Unfortunately, our deliveries have declined, and interest from the medical staff to provide obstetrical services has waned. That is why, after tremendous thought and consultation with our medical staff and board leadership, we have decided to close our obstetrics unit effective Monday, August 9. We want to assure you that women and women’s services are vitally important to our community and our hospital. Diligent efforts were made to sustain services. We will continue to offer women’s gynecological surgical services. A trained obstetric nurse will be available 24/7 in the emergency room. Additionally, an obstetrician will be on-call for OB-related traumas. Our sister facility just down I-35, Medical Center of Lewisville, continues to provide exceptional maternity and high level neonatal care. We also want you to know that staff members affected by this are being given an opportunity to find new positions within our HCA family. That may include areas at DRMC where there are plans to expand. In our effort to meet the needs of our community, Denton Regional Medical Center will continue to concentrate on providing and strengthening our critical care, cardiology, vascular, orthopedics, and many other service lines. Soon, we will be adding cancer care, a growing need in Denton County. We will be telling you more about this in the coming months. Thank you for your ongoing support of Denton Regional Medical Center and for your personal commitment to excellence for your patients. Sincerely,
Caleb F. O’Rear Chief Executive Officer
