trouble early as Michigan came out swinging to the tune of seven runs on five hits and two errors in the top of the first en route to sinking the Lions, 14-2 ... four Wolverine hitters finished with multiple hits, including Ako Thomas and Michael Brdar with three each ... Thomas, hitting out of the leadoff spot, finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Brdar was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and one driven in ... Harrison Wenson made the most of his two hits, finishing the contest 2-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a homer and four RBI ... Miles Lewis also homered in the game, part of a 1-for-2 night that featured two runs scored and two RBI ... Left-hander William Tribucher got the start and earned the victory on a staff day, contributing 3.0 innings and allowing just one run with three strikeouts ... Tribucher improved to 1-1 with the decision ... the Lions punched out 11 times in the setback while managing just five hits ... sophomore starter Steven Skolarz, who took the loss and fell to 0-2, lasted just 1.1 innings, surrendering nine runs (seven earned) on six hits and three walks before handing the ball over to the bullpen. FREE PASSES: Free passes were aplenty in the series against Washington State, as LMU drew 26 walks while issuing 22 of its own ... Phil Caulfield drew seven walks for LMU, while three other Lions collected three ... the Lions drew seven on Friday and Sunday, and eight more on Monday to finish the series ... on the other side, LMU walked seven in each of the first two games, and four in each of the final two contests.

THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME: In its 35th season as the home of Lion baseball in 2017, George C. Page Stadium is also in its fourth year under the lights ... the 2017 LMU baseball schedule is slated to feature 27 home games ... LMU is 4-5 so far this year at home after going 9-12 at home last year ... the Lions, who have posted a 547-415-4 (.568) overall record in the park’s 34 seasons, have claimed five conference titles while calling Page Stadium home ... the first Page Stadium conference title came in 1986, when the Lions posted a 24-8 record at home ... the best record came in 1988, when LMU was 30-5 at home (.857) ... LMU’s historic first game in Page Stadium was played on March 19, 1983, with a 5-1 loss to Cal State Fullerton ... one of the staples of the venue, the Mikos Blue Monster in left field stands 130-feet wide and 37-feet tall. JOURNEY TO THE TOURNEY: For the fifth consecutive year, the West Coast Conference will hold a WCC Championship Tour-

nament at Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif. from May 25-27 to decide who will claim the WCC’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament ... the top-four teams will compete in the tournament, with the #1 seed facing #4 and #2 facing #3 in first-round play ... the tournament is double elimination throughout, with the winner of the tournament earning the WCC’s automatic bid ... LMU has played for the WCC Championship in two of the last three years (losses to Pepperdine in 2014 and 2015). • Prior to returning to LMU for the 2017 season, Gill spent the summer of 2016 serving his second stint with Team USA’s Collegiate National Team ... The 2016 Americans posted an 11-7-1 record, including recording the first-ever series win at Cuba (3-2) ... For their efforts, the Collegiate National Team was named USA Baseball’s Team of the Year ... At the conclusion of the 2012 campaign, Gill spent the summer of 2012 serving as an assistant coach for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, helping the squad to a 12-5 record and a bronze medal after finishing 5-2 at Honkbal Week hosted at Pim Mulier Stadium in the Netherlands. PREVIOUS COACHING EXPERIENCE

• For the four years preceding his start as LMU’s seventh skipper in program history, Gill worked under head coach George Horton at Oregon and Cal State Fullerton, serving as an infield coach, recruiting coordinator and as a primary hitting instructor ... Gill was Horton’s first hire as both men left Cal State Fullerton to begin the reconstruction of the Duck baseball program in 2007 ... Always considered one of the best recruiters in college baseball, Gill’s 2007 recruiting class was ranked in the top-10 in the nation by both Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America. • In the three years preceding the move to Eugene, Ore., the Titans made it to Omaha and the College World Series twice, won two Big West Conference titles and had 35 players drafted ... • Before his return to Fullerton, Gill spent three seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for UC Irvine, as the coaching staff resurrected the baseball program from extinction ... After just three years of developing the program, Gill helped lead UCI to a NCAA Regional in 2004 ... Furthering his reputation as a standout recruiter, the Anteaters’ 2002 recruiting class was ranked eighth in the country by Baseball America, with the following two classes among Collegiate Baseball’s top-30.
