Message from the CEO
Message from Andy Calitz, CEO of LNG Canada Acknowledging the communities we support.
On Monday, July 11th, LNG Canada announced that the Joint Venture participants behind our project would be delaying their final investment decision beyond December 2016, the date we had all been working towards. While a new date for an investment decision isn’t known, in our announcement we stressed that our project was being delayed, rather than being cancelled. I’d like to re-emphasize that point again. I believe the LNG Canada project remains a promising opportunity. The support our project has received from the local community and First Nations has been instrumental to the success we achieved gaining critical regulatory approvals. I can’t say enough about how valuable this support has been, and how important it will be to maintain going forward as we look at a range of options to move the project towards a positive FID in the future. But in the context of unprecedented global industry challenges and uncertainty, the timing to move forward at the end of 2016, unfortunately, just wasn’t feasible. Disappointing news for the community In my discussions with Mayor Phil Germuth and Chief Councillor Ellis Ross, plus the many conversations I’ve had with community members at meetings and even on the golf course at LNG Canada’s annual golf tournament, it’s cleat there is little question that the delay is disappointing news for the community. Likewise for the LNG Canada team. Strong project fundamentals While a delay isn’t the scenario any of us hoped for, we have progressed the project to a point where it is in a good place to take a pause. LNG Canada has received key regulatory approvals from provincial and federal authorities, has earned broad stakeholder and First Nations support, and has completed important site preparation activities. The Project fundamentals also remain strong. The Project is close to low-cost
and abundant gas supply, has access to Asian markets, and has an advantaged site location with First Nations’ support.
“ I can’t say enough about how valuable this community support has been, and how important it will be to maintain going forward as we look at a range of options to move the project towards a positive FID in the future.” The path forward Going forward, we need to maintain the support the community has demonstrated in the past. The relationship between the Project and the Kitimat and Terrace communities, and Haisla First Nation, is a valued one that LNG Canada intends to nourish in the months ahead. I hope you will remain interested in our project, continue to ask questions of the people from our company that you’ll see in the community, and provide the same encouragement to our team as you have in the past. For our part, we will continue to inform you of our plans – through LNG Canada-hosted events, through postings to our Facebook page and website, and meetings we will hold with the Community Advisory Group, District of Kitimat, Haisla Council, among others. Over the coming year, we will complete any outstanding site preparation activities work, work to receive outstanding permits, and maintain the value already invested in the project. Please keep in touch and I look forward to letting you know about the progress of our project.

A summer’s worth of help
Join LNG Canada at our upcoming pizza night
Thanks Thanks for foraasummer’s summer’sworth worthofofhelp help As Kailee Gardiner ends her summer internship with LNG Canada she’s taking away some new knowledge about the LNG industry, how to manage multiple priorities and some very valuable interpersonal skills.
Kailee Gardiner
A 19-year old member of the Haisla Nation, Kailee returned to school in the fall to continue her educational studies in Business Administration through Okanagan College. Asked about highlights of her time spent at LNG Canada, Kailee points to helping with the Community Open House and BBQ held in the early summer, LNG demonstrations,
the Relay for Life and most recently, the LNG Canada Golf Tournament. Kailee says, “The entire experience was very beneficial for me and I enjoyed my time with LNG Canada.” LNG Canada says the feeling is mutual and thanks Kailee for her energy and efforts, and wishes her the best in her studies this year.

Please join us for a casual evening of conversation and refreshments. LNG Canada will provide the pizza, along with a project update. You’ll have a chance to listen to a short presentation on what the communities can expect over the coming months, as well as ask questions throughout the evening of any of our project team members who will be in attendance. One of LNG Canada’s commitments during this period of delay is to keep the community up-to-date with information on how the project is advancing, and what to expect. There’s no better way to do that than sharing some food and conversation,
and mingling with your neighbours and our team. The pizza night is designed as a drop in event – come anytime between 4 and 7 p.m. Susannah Pierce, LNG Canada’s External Affairs Director will provide a project update at approximately 5:15 p.m., but if your schedule doesn’t allow you to attend then, not to worry, as LNG Canada team members can fill you in once you arrive.
When: • Tuesday October 18, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. • 5:15 p.m. Brief project update by Susannah Pierce, LNG Canada External Affairs Director. Where: • Riverlodge, 654 Columbia Avenue West.
