URBAN DEVELOPMENT

Cairo University and Brandenburg University of Technology-BTU Cottbus

A collaboration with Brandenburg University of Technology-BTU Cottbus. My team and I explored the challenges of urban mobility, agriculture, and water resources in one of the Nile Delta cities. proposed approaches of development regarding the expected scenarios of the sea level rise for 2050 and 2100. The output was also a contribution to the International competetion “Confronting informality, preserving communities and creating public goods in infromal settlements, organized by TUDelft, BK Bouwkunde.

The Norman Foster Foundation Urban Mobility Workshop “The Norman Foster Foundation Urban Mobility Workshop took place on 17-21 September 2018, with the support of BYD. The workshop focused on new urban technologies and how these could open up an exciting range of opportunities in which the infrastructure of movement and the architecture of buildings can physically merge together” The workshop explored these and other possibilities in the context of three city typologies. The example chosen for study was San Francisco Bay Area”.

The Norman Foster Foundation Urban Mobility Workshop “SAN FRANCISCO BAY LOOPS” “URBAN MOBILITY CORRIDORS FOR .... INOVATION AND RESILIENCE” My team and I were exploring how the technology can change the new ways of transportatin in a low-density sprawling metropolis of San Francisco Bay area.

ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING AND URBAN DESIGN

“Assessing Walkability in New Cities in Egypt, 2017 Examining how walking can fill the service gap in using other modes of transportation in new cities in Egypt. Dealing with the objective measuring of the built environment attributes that are related to walking (Net residential density, intersection density, land-use mix, and retail-floor area ratio). Measuring and mapping the levels of walkability. Using the GIS-based walkability index, socres were measured per block group within a half mile radius area. Measures could be used to determine areas where priority should be given by urban planners for the enhancement and redevelopment of the built environment.
