Casinos On Native American Land MUWEKMA OHLONE TRIBE

The human desire to gamble has caused a massive growth in the number of casinos on Native American land.

Because this is sovereign land, outside the purview of the federal and state governments, casinos can be created and run only after a State’s legislature signs a revenue sharing gaming compact with a recognized tribe, and also signed by the governor of that state.

Unfortunately, this has caused many misconceptions about how they operate and what they do with their profits.
