Kidney function test – Who needs it?

Research suggests that about 1 in 8 Indians suffer from kidney problems. Thus if you are over the age of 40, it would be better to take kidney function tests.
The nephrology doctors suggest everyone to take the tests when they reach the age of 40 but especially people with complications like diabetes, high blood pressure, family history of kidney problems, and kidney stones should take kidney function tests.

If you are a healthy individual and the results are normal in the renal function tests then you could choose to go for the yearly checkup as a precaution. People with the above-mentioned complications must take the tests more frequently.
