A CELEBRATION OF HAROLD PINTER STARRING JULIAN SANDS DIRECTED BY JOHN MALKOVICH
In 2005, Nobel Prize-winning playwright and poet Harold Pinter approached acclaimed actor Julian Sands to prepare a selection of his poems for a special presentation in London. Sands apprenticed under Pinter, who spent hours sharing his feelings on how his work should be delivered. This extraordinary collaboration became the foundation for a wonderfully rich, humorous, and fascinating solo show directed by John Malkovich— A Celebration of Harold Pinter.

Harvest Festival Saturday, October 6 & Sunday, October 7, 10 am to 4 pm

s
Celebrate the New Mexican Harvest and take part in traditional ways of life. String chiles into ristras, learn how to run the mill and make a tortilla, press apples into cider, stomp grapes for wine, pick your own pumpkin, make cornhusk dolls and harvest wreaths.
Halloween Event “Spirits of New Mexico’s Past” Saturday, October 27, 5 pm to 9 pm
Meet the spirits of historical figures who lived and died in the land of enchantment and hear their amazing stories. Lit by lantern light and campfires, our wondrous historic site takes on a family-friendly — but spooky — Halloween atmosphere.
partially funded by the city of santa fe arts commission and the 1% lodgers’ tax, county of santa fe lodgers’ tax, new mexico arts, and new mexico bank and trust
Delightfully antiquated. Let our coal-fired steam engine take you to another century and beyond. Into an unspoiled West of simplicity, natural beauty, and authenticity. Climb aboard our national historic landmark and you’ll zig zag along the Colorado and New Mexico border through steep mountain canyons, the high deser t, and lush meadows. It’s an experience that’s completely at odds with the modern world. And better for it.

If the world of wine is meant to be so much fun, why is it sometimes so frustrating to navigate? That’s what Jon Bonné, the senior contributor to PUNCH and author of two noted wine books -- The New California Wine and The New Wine Rules -- has tried to answer in coming up with “new rules” for wine. Jon will host a wine tasting of eight wines that highlight the new rules. A signed copy of Jon’s New Wine Rules is included for each guest joining this lively and tasty discussion. Charred Tomato-Nopal Salsa From the kitchen of Chef Tony Quintana
Heart Healthy & Diabetic Friendly INGREDIENTS: < 4 medium nopales (8 oz) < 5 knob onions (7 oz) < 1 Tbsp olive oil < ½ tsp Mexican oregano < Salt (a generous teaspoon) < 1¼ lbs red-ripe tomatoes (6-8 plum or 12 large round) < 5 torito chiles or hot banana/Hungarian wax/guero chiles (12 oz) DIRECTIONS: Nopal Prep: Holding a paddle with a pair of tongs, trim off the edge that outlines the paddle, including the blunt end where the paddle was severed from the plant. Slice or scrape off the spiny nodes from both sides of the paddle. Heat a gas grill to medium-high or light a charcoal fire and let it burn until the charcoal is covered with white ash. Lay the nopales and onions on the grill and drizzle with oil. Add the tomatoes and chiles to the grill and cook until the vegetables are charred on all sides and very soft, about 10 min for the nopales and 15 min for the onions, tomatoes and chiles. Cool, then peel the chiles and tomatoes. Stem and seed the chiles, then cut them into ½-inch pieces and scoop into a bowl. Chop the tomatoes and nopales the same size and add to the bowl. Using only the white part of the onion, slice them ¼-inch thick and add to the bowl. Sprinkle in the oregano and mix well. Taste and season with salt and your salsa is ready to serve!
