As I sip my cold one from Downtown Drafts and watch the people stroll by, I am amazed at the multitude that came out to enjoy the free concert at Roosevelt Square in downtown Gainesville this evening. Everywhere you turn there are families, young adults, children of all ages, and even furry friends, spread out on the green and occupying a sea of multicolored lawn chairs. The breeze blows and brings with it scents from a variety of different cuisines to feed the hungry tummy. It tempts me to get up and explore, and as I do, I am greeted by vendors with flavorful creations ranging from organic salsas and empanadas, to BBQ and meats, all the way to shaved ice and homemade baked goods to satisfy the sweet tooth.

People continue to pour in and grab a spot, the notes from the first band begin to play. It seems as though the crowd instantly relaxes with the smooth notes of familiar old tunes and you can feel the stress of the work week die down, the to do lists in everyone’s minds fade away, to leave a moment of clarity where they are truly present in their surroundings. These moments are rare in the time we live in with technology and business running our lives. Therefore a moment to soak up the sun, smell the fresh grass beneath you, and enjoy the company of your community is a treasure. As the night goes on and the sun starts to fade, more people gather and the atmosphere becomes more alive. Children are prancing across the grounds and many are not afraid to share the spotlight with the band, showing off their dance moves to the pleasure of the crowd. A small group of women decide to join the fun and start a dance circle of their own. Laughing and enjoying a time to let loose, letting the music lead them. people we went to highschool with. Many have gotten married and started families of their own. Our community growing and shaping itself for the future right before our eyes. We bask in their presence, remembering old stories and imaging the new ones to come. Towards the end of the evening, I’m struck by the ever changing and growing community that Gainesville has become. The calendar of events becoming a staple to young families enjoying everything from free concerts like this one, to festivals and farmers markets, and pet friendly events. The city brings with it business and commerce, but also first and foremost a place to call home. This event in itself showed off the sprawling downtown area with its staple of restaurants and businesses, highlighted local vendors and musicians, and offered a place to join together as a community. A place where we could sweat together, sing together, sip a few beers together, and the chance to treasure our city with its homegrown roots. Balance These Six Areas to Improve Your Health

The process of educating ourselves about our you need to focus on to be healthy and have a fitness and health can be a daunting one. We great quality of life: are besieged by ads for “gimmick” products and RESISTANCE TRAINING: Pushing and pulling against foods, devices promising shortcuts, and selfresistance are the basic movements that prompt our bodies to promoting gurus who really are only interested build muscle. By adding muscle to our bodies, we aren’t only in lining their pockets. So, how do you know what to do? Here’s a simple look at the six things stronger, but we are more effective calorie burners. For ladies, •14•

a large number of studies show that strength training can prevent bone loss. One of the hesitations we often hear from women about lifting is that they don’t want to look bulky. It usually takes a professional fitness competitor a year or so of highly intense training to add five pounds of muscle, so don’t worry that adding some resistance training to your routine is going to make you look like a body builder, but you may see an increase in compliments! CARDIO TRAINING: Getting your heart rate up in a controlled manner has a tremendous value to your overall fitness. Done properly, elevating your heart rate increases the strength of your heart itself, burns calories, improves circulation, can lower your blood pressure and your resting heart rate, improves skin quality, increase blood flow to your brain which lowers the risk of stroke, helps control blood sugar, enjoy a higher energy level and, as shown in a recent study from BYU, can actually take nine years off of your biological age. Utilizing strength improvements from resistance training to help your body handle a higher intensity level of cardio training can improve almost every aspect of your health. NUTRITION: What we put into our bodies has a drastic impact on our health, and offers a quick and easy improvement opportunity. You’ve likely seen the news stories about 70% of the U.S. population being overweight, and half of those defined as obese, and the health issues this creates. It is projected that the obesity rate will reach almost 50% by 2030. The medical care cost of obesity to the US alone was estimated by the C.D.C. to be $147B in 2008, and has increased dramatically since then. Getting your food intake under control can have a multitude of benefits. -Keep added sugars to a minimum. Sugar is high in calories, and causes higher insulin levels, which can keep your body from burning fat as fuel. -Eat 2-3 servings of leafy greens each day. Greens are great sources of fiber, are packed full of valuable nutrients like Vitamins A, C and K, and carry a high level of anti-oxidants, for improved cellular health. -Keep your sodium intake to 2,300 mg per day. Too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure, which is the leading cause of heart disease. The majority of the sodium we consume is in our foods before they get to us, in the grocery or restaurant. Learning how to plan, shop, prepare and order our food can have an immediate impact on your health. For many of us, the extra fluid we retain from high sodium intake also adds an extra 5-7 pounds of body weight. -Eat quality carbs for energy. Brown rice, sweet potatoes, quinoa, oatmeal and legumes are all great choices.

HYDRATION: The easiest of the six levels to improve quickly, sufficient hydration is a habit with multiple benefits. Some of the positives include avoiding excess fatigue, loss of concentration, cramps, constipation, lightheadedness, dizziness, headaches, and, sufficient hydration can lead to better long term renal function. Dehydration can cause sugar cravings, so it can contribute to weight gain. When we exercise with low fluid levels, we use stores of glycogen (stored carbohydrates) at a faster rate, so, when finished, we feel cravings for high carb foods. like sweets. Dehydration can also lead to Hypernatremia, or elevated sodium levels. Since fluid is the normal conduit for sodium leaving the body, without sufficient fluid, sodium is retained. This can show itself in a variety of symptoms, like fatigue, irritability and lethargy. Make sure you intake 2/3 to 3/4 oz. per pound of body weight per day and you should be fine. Higher temperatures can up your need for fluid, so factor that in, as well. Drink up, your body will thank you! SLEEP: According to the National Institutes for Health, sleep is a valuable component of our overall health. Our bodies heal and repair during sleep. Too little sleep can increase your risk of obesity. Sufficient sleep helps your immune system, lowers your risk of several diseases, improves hormonal balance, as well as our daily performance. STRESS: Stress management is essential to our overall health. According to the Mayo Clinic, high levels of stress can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Regular physical activity is one of the most effective ways to address stress levels. Social activities, scheduling downtime for favorite activities, and meditation will also help lower your stress levels. Get in the habit of paying attention to these six areas, and enjoy looking and feeling better every day, plus see the key indicators of your health improve!

Five Steps to Building Better
Client Relationships T By Melissa Galt
The fastest path to growing your business and your revenue is to build better client relationships. Business is all about relationships, and particularly the business of design. As design professionals we often have unprecedented access to our clients’ private lives and idiosyncrasies (whether we want to or not!)
This is the technique we’ve all been taught since the dawn of time when we start any new venture, though few designers actually do this. And it doesn’t matter if you are new to your practice or if you are established, it is always wise to review and update your routine contact list. Start by making a list of all the people you come into regular contact with, from your pharmacist to your dry cleaner, your gym trainer to the head of the PTA (if you have kids), your hair stylist to your housekeeper, include family and friends.
The stronger the relationship you craft, the deeper the success you will experience leading to a lifetime of demand. Here are five easy, proven steps for creating relationships of lasting value.
Create a short, two sentence, summary of what you do and who you serve and share it widely. You’d be surprised to know that often the people closest to you don’t think to refer business because they either aren’t clear about what you do or presume that you have so much business you aren’t interested in referrals. Take the guesswork out and let them know who a great client for you is (hint, it’s not everyone!)

We encourage outdoor recreation and relational activities that help boys and girls express their feelings and communicate in a healthier way. The result? Pick Points of Connection
Before you get started, write out, in bullet points, some things about yourself. Be sure to include all the cities and states you’ve lived in, schools you’ve attended, trips you have taken, church you go to (if relevant) and fun facts, your favorite food, hobbies, information about your family (kids and spouse too.) Keep this information top of your mind, as you meet prospects you want to discover your points of connection. You are a fascinating individual, and your points of connection will help you form indelible bonds with clients. In this age of high tech, the design business is all about locallifepublishing.com
high touch and you want to form a unique connection in order to create a relationship that will breed success. Perhaps you’ve lived in the same city previous to where you are now, perhaps you went to the same school, perhaps you share a favorite vacation spot or you are on a charity board together, whatever it is, find it and tap it. To Build Better Client Relationships: Coach Clients Stop selling, and instead become a coach and a guide, educating your client into your vision for their home or office. When you approach this with knowledge, expertise and the idea that what you are creating is the best solution to their design challenge and clearly they deserve it, you will find far greater success. You are creating an experience of inestimable value, there is a return on their investment in terms of comfort, improved health, better relationships, and much more. This is not about a budget item with a life cycle, it is about the lifetime of benefit good design can bring. To Build Better Client Relationships: Forever Follow Up Stay in touch regularly with clients both active and inactive and nurture potential clients. You can do this with a variety of methods including an ezine (e-newsletter), the occasional note (include a pertinent news clipping),
•19•
continued from page 19... holiday cards (be unique, skip Christmas and go for New Year’s, Halloween instead of Thanksgiving), and of course a phone call at least monthly. You have no idea when the next project may come up and you want to remain front and center. There is far less loyalty now than ever before. People’s attention spans are getting shorter and shorter with the bombardment of information on the internet and through other media channels. Keep it personal, relevant and regular!
Request Referrals
Ask, ask, ask. If you don’t ask you aren’t likely to get! Often clients presume you are too busy to take anyone else on, or they just don’t think of sharing you. Tell them you have enjoyed working with them and would appreciate any referrals to similar colleagues or friends. Be specific, you aren’t looking for just anyone, but someone like them. That is flattering to them. Make it easy, for every project you wrap up, offer to throw a small room warming or large housewarming, provide catered appetizers and beverages and be prepared to mix and mingle, bring your portfolio either hard copies or on your laptop. There is no better time than when your client is still in the bloom of the project and hasn’t nitpicked anything yet! (It happens.) Following these tips consistently will lead to infinitely greater success in the ever more competitive world of interior design. From an upside down start, $70K in debt, and having walked out on a job, Melissa Galt built a 6-figure interior design practice with determination, creative marketing, and her success blueprint. In just 18 months, she was debt free and referrals kicked in to create a thriving practice of lifetime clients. Today, Melissa coaches creative business owners around the world on how to craft their own Creative Success Blueprint and enjoy work fueled by their creative talent and passion, while being well paid by loyal clients. She has been recognized by Forbes as one of the Top 20 Women for Entrepreneurs to follow; Melissa has been described as a catalyst, giving you a much needed push to reach your potential profitably and build a life doing what you love.

From 0 to 17,584 in One Day: How a Brand New Blog Went Viral Is it possible to get 17,584 unique visitors to a new blog in one day without any Twitter followers, no connections, and no marketing budget? I didn’t think so until I saw one of the most amazing marketing case studies I’ve ever seen. Welcome to the Skyscraper Technique. The Skyscraper Technique is the best way to turn an average blog into one that goes viral overnight. If you’ve never heard of the Skyscraper Technique, it involves taking material that has already gone viral for somebody else and making it work for you.
Here’s what to do:
1. Find content that is relevant to your industry and has already gone viral. 2. Improve the content while making it specific to your business. 3. Promote, promote and then promote some more. Sounds simple, doesn’t it? It actually is. A man named Chris Gimmer used the Skyscraper Technique to drive over 17,000 visitors to his site in one day. While working in the highly competitive business of website themes, Chris has stood out as a major player overnight. The best part is, because of implementing this technique in one viral post, his site is averaging over 2,000 unique visitors a day. Prior to implementing this technique, it was getting about 50. This is a way to create long-term and sustained traffic while also giving a quick boost.

How Oreo Conquered the Super Bowl A 30-second advertisement during the Super Bowl can cost you upwards of $4 million. That’s a steep price to
pay for a limited amount of time. Back in 2013, the Oreo brand figured out a different approach to gain the attention of the Super Bowl’s 108 million viewers. In the middle of the game, the lights went out in the New Orleans Superdome. The blackout lasted for about 30 minutes, and no action could take place. Knowing that the droves of viewers would shift their attention from the game to their social media accounts, Oreo Tweeted out a simple image with the text “You Can Still Dunk in the Dark”. This Tweet went viral within minutes and still has marketers talking about it to this day.

Location Data Used to Perfection Utilizing location-based data in your marketing portfolio is a tricky but rewarding endeavor. Marketing case studies involving location data are abundant. This one really stands out. Let’s look at the high-end tequila maker Herradura. Herradura partnered with Foursquare to help bring awareness to high-end alcohol drinkers on where their product was sold. The results were surprising and profitable. Before partnering with Foursquare, Herradura was not aware that their typical target customer also frequented such places as juice bars, organic farmer’s markets and local bookstores. This information allowed them to properly target their drinker on social media and other platforms. Learning where your target customer spends their time makes marketing to them more effective.

Social Media Hashtags and Polls that Drive Dollars A lot of money is spent on television advertising that lasts 30 or 60 seconds. Xbox UK figured out how to get the most bang out of their advertising buck by incorporating a hashtag in their ads for the new game Halo 5: Guardian. The hashtag “HUNTtheTRUTH” soon went viral and had gamers chomping at the bit for the release. After promoting the hashtag to get it trending on Twitter, Xbox UK used strategic polls on their Twitter account to further engage users about the game’s characters and strategies. Snapchat for Marketing? Yes, Really! Until Red Bull proved Snapchat can be taken seriously in early 2015, many people used to consider the social site a tool for teenagers to indulge in selfies and meaningless interaction. Canadian snowboarder and X Games champion Mark McMorris was given full control over Red Bull’s Snapchat account. They wanted to give their followers an inside look at the life of an extreme sports superstar. And it worked. Red Bull is all about the extreme lifestyle. They market their product to active thrill-seekers. Partnering with Mark McMorris on Snapchat was absolute genius. Not only did it help Red Bull market directly to Mark’s very loyal base of fans, but it reached a crowd of new customers just because it was incredibly cool.

A Diamond Is Forever How can you make your product a must-have for everybody? That’s a tough question. But in 1999 the De Beers diamond company figured
it out. When they introduced the new slogan “A Diamond is Forever”, De Beers made diamond ownership a requirement for anybody planning on marriage. Think about your product and how you can make is seem luxurious and necessary, no matter how inexpensive it is. De Beers figured it out with expert precision. Who can even imagine proposing marriage without presenting a diamond ring?

Hire the Right People From the very start hire the right people. If you don’t have the time to do the search yourself look for a recruiter or recruiting agency to do the heavy lifting for you. Believe me recruiters are worth their price and will save you time and money in the long run. Look for people that can help your brand, the idea dreamers, the originals, the out of box thinkers - the genuine salt of the earth that will help you bring your business to the top of the stack. Strategizing for business is a fantastic way to build your brand. There’s always something new you can learn and apply. Hopefully, these eight business strategies will inspire you. What Happens If Your Parents Become Incapacitated?
J
By W.H. “Kim” Kimbrough, Jr., J.D., LL.M.
Just bringing up the possibility of someone in your family becoming mentally or physically incapacitated is often difficult. We tend to think of only the very elderly needing long-term, hands-on care, but a 2015 report by the Alzheimer’s Association found that one in nine Americans age 65 or older currently have Alzheimer’s. With the baby boom generation aging and people living longer, that number may nearly triple by 2050. Dementia isn’t the only reason for long-term care, of course, but almost everyone knows someone already affected by it. Waiting too late to plan can throw a family into confusion about what the Mom or Dad would want,
what options are available, and what resources can help pay for care. Rushed decisions are often the most costly. Having the courage to discuss the possibility of incapacity now can go a long way toward being prepared should that time come. By the way, because anyone can become incapacitated at any time due to illness or accident, the entire family would benefit from planning for every family member. PLANNING/DISCUSSION Care Options: Depending on the type and expected duration of care needed, options range from inhome care to adult day care to assisted living facilities to nursing homes. Assistance with activities of daily living (ADL), which include eating, bathing and dressing, are generally not covered by health insurance. Professional care can be expensive; the national average for basic assisted living services is now about $42,000 per year. Care for those with dementia can last longer and cost more. Family caregivers, who provide the bulk of in-home care, are
•32•
mygainesvillemagazine.com
often unpaid, and the emotional and financial tolls can be considerable. Your discussions need to realistically consider family finances and circumstances. Finances: Where will the money come from to pay these expenses? What resources will be available? Health insurance does not cover assisted living/nursing home facilities or help with ADLs. Medicare covers some in-home health care and a limited number of days of skilled nursing home care, but not long-term care. Medicaid, which does cover long-term care, was designed for the indigent; to qualify, the person’s assets must be spent down to almost nothing. VA benefits for Aid & Attendance may be available for veterans and their spouses. If there are significant assets, you can self-insure and pay the costs as you go. Home equity and retirement savings can also be a source of funds. If you want to protect these assets for your family, long-term care insurance may be an option. (Premiums are much lower when you are younger.) Documents: Everyone over the age of 18 needs basic legal documents. These include an advance health directive or health care power of attorney (legally appointing another person to make healthcare decisions for you if you cannot make them yourself ); a durable financial power of attorney (legally appointing another person to make financial decisions for you if you cannot make them yourself ); and a trust and/or will. Having the Discussion: Your parents may be harboring secret fears about what will happen to them if they need long-term care. Talking about this honestly, listening to their fears and desires, and putting a plan in place before it is needed can help reassure them (and you). If you want to talk to your children, reassure them that you are just being realistic. Starting with a story about someone you know or an article you read can be a good way to break the ice. How to Get Help: An attorney who specializes in Elder Law has already helped many families in these same situations, and will be able to make recommendations that will save you considerable time, money, and stress. He/she can also work with other advisors (financial/investment advisors, insurance agents, CPAs, etc.) to help put together the best plan for your family’s circumstances. Questions? Need help? Kimbrough Law can guide you through the process. Just give us a call at 760.850.6910. www.KimbroughLaw.net locallifepublishing.com

WAYS TO GROW A BUSINESS
S
Smartphones are everywhere these days. And they just keep getting bigger. The screens on today’s smartphones are almost twice the size of the original iPhones. And the resolution has just gotten clearer. With better screens in our pockets and faster network speeds, it’s no surprise that video is more popular than ever. YouTube users watch hundreds of millions of hours of video content every day. Half of this traffic is from mobile users. Video has never been hotter. If your business isn’t using video content, you might get drowned out among your competitors. In this article, we’ll look through the five best ways to use video content to increase your business’s reach. Creating a professional quality video used to be more expensive than many small businesses could afford. But thanks to the constantly-improving cameras and the availability of free video editing software, INTRODUCE YOURSELF You know the saying: you are your business. Customers love getting to know the men and women behind the brands they are buying from. A marketing video can be a great way for your customers to put a face to your company and give your brand a personality. Videos help increase brand recall like no other media can. Think of all the brands you know because of their television commercials, even though you’ve never bought anything from them. When customers know a brand, they feel more confident buying from them. Using videos is a great way to instill that confidence.
PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS When a customer considers buying a product, one of the first things they do is go to YouTube to find product demonstration videos. When they see how a product works, they are far more likely to buy that product over a competitor. If your company isn’t posting product demonstrations but your competitors are, you’re going to miss out on customers. GIVE UPDATES How does your company announce news to its customers? Newsletters have long been a favorite standby, but the average internet user is reading less and less. Instead, film a short video about any company news. Share it on your social media pages. You can even embed it in your email. This will get information to your customers quickly and effectively. CREATE BUZZ Not every video has to have a direct purpose. Many of the top companies create content that is maybe only barely related to their products. Create a video blog to check in with your customers. Post a video of your staff having some fun. If you post an entertaining video, it doesn’t matter what your product is: people are going to remember your company. For example: look at almost any Super Bowl commercial ever. A good video can create buzz for your company, which will create brand recognition. VIDEO BROCHURES The internet has changed the way we think about media. For years, businesses have used their websites as digital versions of their brochures. Their pages would feature large blocks of text with an occasional picture thrown in. But now, the game has changed. More and more companies are using video brochures to attract their customers’ attention. Video brochures are sophisticated, informative, and a great way to communicate legitimacy to your customers. articlecity.com

Going Digital HOW TO
Navigate a Good Campaign
I
In today’s market, there is no getting around using the internet for marketing. You find it tough to keep up with since each social media channel has their own expectations. Thankfully, there are systems for a successful digital marketing campaign. These campaign strategies have helped decrease the overwhelming feeling of digital marketing. Once you know this method, you can concentrate on your business and spend less time worrying about marketing.
The Digital Marketing Campaign Before we go into the method, let’s establish what a successful campaign looks like. When we look at successful campaigns from 2016 what do we find? The companies who ran successful campaigns used pop culture trends to grab attention. This included live videos, memes, quick but powerful ads and unique messages. The campaigns worked because they were unique and got their point across.
The Seven Principles To start a campaign, you need some base information and ideas. Great digital marketing campaigns aren’t born overnight. Prepare to spend at least a week or two making your marketing plan. The quality of your campaign depends on the depth of thought behind it. I said marketing plan, but what does that mean? In the seven principles, we’ll discuss, six out of seven of There are seven aspects at the base of any successful them are preparation. These six pre-exposure princidigital marketing campaign. These aspects act as the pillars that keep your campaign steady in the changing ples make up your digital marketing campaign plan: online world. Let’s explore them together!

1. Know your Audience This is marketing 101 and I know you’ve heard it before, but it bears repeating: know your audience! The last thing you want to do is spend money on marketing and have it never be seen by potential clients. Where are these future clients spending their time online? Are they online shopping, reading news sites, or using social media? You need to know so that you can choose where to display your ads. 2. Marketing Vision Since you know who your clients are and where they spend their time, you’re ready to design your vision. What do you want your digital marketing campaign to say? To figure out what you want to say, know what you want your campaign to do. What are your goals for the campaign? Are you concerned about brand awareness or increasing sales? Once you’ve figured out your goal, concentrate on making your content and designs fit into it. 3. Make a Budget You don’t usually think of a budget as a design aspect of a digital marketing campaign, do you? But it’s as much of a
•37•
•38•
mygainesvillemagazine.com
design aspect as anything else. By creating a budget, you can assess which social media platforms you can afford to advertise on. Maybe a smaller budget means only concentrating on Facebook marketing, that’s ok! It’s a great thing to know ahead of time so you don’t spend the time and money creating Instagram content. 4. Pick your Platform(s) This step might seem silly to do before you create content but stay with me. If you pick where your content is going to go, you can personalize it for each site. If you choose to use Instagram, you’ll need something that can show your message with images. If you’re going for content marketing articles, you’ll need a great title and blurb for Facebook or Twitter. Once you know where you’re posting, you can create the correct content for that market. 5. Create Content Finally, it’s time to put your creative team to work! This is my favorite part. Depending on the platforms you choose, you’ll need different content. Visual Content Make sure you’re using bold colors that work well together. If you’re using images for something like Instagram, make sure they aren’t overcrowded with text. You want to get your message across quickly and simply. You can use photo captions to express more information. Content Marketing Blogs If you choose to use content marketing, it needs to be visually appealing as well. Make sure your spacing is correct and not hard to read. People respond to images in articles well, especially infographics! When choosing topics, spend the time doing research into what interests your audience. It’s much easier to interest them in something already on their radar than something new. That doesn’t mean you should write your own version of popular articles. Creative titles and articles will get you locallifepublishing.com
more attention than overdone topics. 6. Choose your Keywords Keywords are important for all types of marketing. They’re thought of mostly as something to sprinkle through articles, but they’re relevant visually too. Using keywords in visual marketing shows up differently than in content blogging. Ads and videos use hashtags to engage customers in their campaigns. Using the right keywords for your market and audience brings potential customers to you, instead of you needing to deliver to them. Spend as much time researching the words you’ll use in your hashtags as you would with content keywords. 7. Engage Engage Engage! Congratulations, now that you’ve gone through all these steps you can post your content! But don’t sit back and relax yet, your job isn’t over. In the past, it was acceptable to send out marketing material and then consider the advertising done. Now, in the world of constant communication, you have to interact with what you’ve posted to stay afloat. When people engage with your content, respond to them or like/favorite their comment. This makes people relate to your brand. By engaging with your customers, you’re reminding them that you aren’t a big scary business, but a group of people. Since you’ve shown them you value them, they feel more inclined to return that favor. Creating a successful digital marketing campaign is not easy. It takes lots of consideration and long hours of research. But if you do it right, in the terms of business growth, anything is possible. What is your favorite part of creating a digital campaign? Are you with me on the creative side or do you like another aspect? We want to know! (Information provided by Article City)

How to Create a
positive
ENVIRONMENT By William Constantine
W
We are constantly being bombarded with information, but is the information you are being bombarded with helping you or hurting you? Odds are you have created some type of daily routine or ritual - wake up, get coffee, read the paper, listen to the news, etc. But are you aware of what you listen to, read, or see on a daily basis actually affects you in some way?
Here are some quick and easy tips to change your personal environment:
Let me give you a good example, if you are a news watcher perhaps you turn on the news and hear a story of a baby being killed - how does that make you feel? Not exactly the best way to start your day, is it?
Listen to music that relaxes you - Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Celtic Music, Native American Music, soothing music, etc. - have this playing softly in the background while you are doing house work, reading a book, playing with the kids, and other tasks.
Don't listen to the News or Read the Papers - Instead, search for positive news stories on the internet and begin subscribing to the RSS feed of that particular place. When picking a movie - Pick uplifting and inspiring movies - movies that touch the heart! Read books that uplift, inspire, and motivate you food for your mind.
However, odds are, you don't change this routine and instead you allow yourself to be inundated with information that is bringing down your emotions, your mental attitude, and overall outlook on life. Not to mention, what we surround ourselves with, actually has a physical effect on the body. Think about your day and your daily ritual - what is in your life? Do you surround yourself with gossip? Do you watch the news or read the paper? Do you, when picking out a movie, pick the scariest flick you can find? Are your friends positive or negative in their mindset?
Take time to meditate every day - even if it's only for 10 - 15 minutes. Don't partake in conversations with negative overtones or fall into gossip at the water cooler at work. Keep your talk positive and surround yourself with other positive people. Dubbed a living luminary William Constantine is a powerfully dynamic keynote speaker in the fields of; personal development, spirituality, inspiration, and motivation. williamconstantine.com

JAEMOR FARMS Georgia Belle Peach Festival
Your complete news, andto Lake Lanier Your complete news, information andinformation recreation guide recreation guide to Lake Lanier.
Jaemor Farms 4th Annual Georgia Belle Peach Festival Saturday, August 5th, 2017 • Time: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Activities: U-pick Peaches, Peach Cook-off, Hayrides, Local arts and crafts vendors This year markets the 105th year the Jaemor Farms family has grown peaches. There is nothing better than biting into a mouthwatering Georgia peach hand-picked fresh from the farm at Jaemor. They harvest 33 varieties of peaches. Georgia is recognized as the Peach State because of its diverse climates and range of regions from subtropical to mountainous, which allows farmers to produce the best tasting peaches. Jaemor has been farming Georgia peaches for over one hundred years with 120-acres devoted to its peach orchard. Peaches are produced for 16-18 weeks out of the year with ripening dates beginning in June and ending in mid-September. When selecting ripened peaches, it is important to look for a creamy yellow or golden undertone. A ripened peach will have a pleasantly sweet smell and be soft to the touch. The peach should give slightly when you squeeze it. Peaches are a great source of antioxidants and vitamins including A and C. Peaches are also rich in fiber, carbohydrates, potassium, iron and energy. With more than 80 percent of peaches composed of water, each serving is approximately 40 calories and contains less than one gram of fat. The Echols family first started farming in 1912. A combination of conservation practices, technology, efficient water usage, and implementation of research have kept their family's farm in production on the same land for five generations. locallifepublishing.com
