Atlas 7

Located in the ever changing neighborhood of East Austin, Atlas 7 seeks to provide a fresh alternative housing option for young professionals in the Greater Austin Area. By prioritizing micro unit options, we provide a dense solution to the housing crisis in the city with an emphasis on community while replicating the feel of a residential neighborhood within a mid-rise building.

Community First! Village is a nonprofit 501c that provides a new approach to the recovering homeless population in Austin. Their initiative is to not only provide housing, but to provide a stepping stone in reintegrating them into society by teaching trades, the value of community, and safety. We were in charge of designing their latest phase by designing six prototype homes for their next 150+ home development.

Desmond Group is a full service production company start up, headquartered in Austin, TX. We took their existing building and reimagined the property to function everyday operations, while also hosting SXSW events, multi-landscaped photoshoots, concerts, and a videographers’ playground with an emphasis on reusing shipping containers as the primary construction medium.

The QUAD

Brittmoore Road is an industrial passage adjacent to one of the busiest quadrants of Houston. We were given a site with four existing butler building with the intent to strategize a phased plane for four creative office spaces. The first of these spaces was the QUAD that houses creative office with a coffee shop and future plans for more amenities.

Office Mark Odom Studio Location Austin, TX Program Barbershop

Birds is a local barbershop that has been awarded the Best of Austin Award every year since 2006. I was selected within the office to project manage and oversee the entire process of the design through completion. The project took an existing cash loan business and created a space that celebrates the Birds brand through a new lens. We introduced a Memphis style design with a custom retail millwork piece at the center of the space for customer interaction.

Program Residential Community

This project was our studio’s first project to include master planning + architecture + interior design + landscape.

While I was on the team we focused on taking a development plan and reconfiguring it around experience, with two amenity buildings serving as the anchors.

The design was sculpted by footpaths and found follies that would encourage active lifestyles and offer a healthier opportunity to other suburban archetypes.

Cycling Bridge

Hinge opens up the IJ River for more than just cargo travel. As a physical mapping of various transportation flows across the river, Hinge allows for bicycle travel across a 6% sloped path, while a stepped path allows for pedestrians and people to gather. A pier becomes the central hinge for the river, both anchoring the mechanisms that allow the bridge to swing open when large ships pass, or provide a gather point for people to admire and inhabit the IJ River.
