Former Logan Alumni Association Endows Funds for Faculty Success, Student Scholarship
Logan University’s former alumni association has endowed the university with two generous funds: one to promote faculty success in the classroom and the other for students by establishing the Logan College of Chiropractic Alumni Association Endowment.
Each endowment is a gift of $115,560.77, totaling $231,121.54 in endowment funds from the Association.
Sean Casey, DC (‘93), Jason Sthrotheide, DC (‘93) and Alan Epstein, DC (‘93), past members of the Logan College of Chiropractic Alumni Board of Directors, helped coordinate the endowment on behalf of the former association. Annual donations made by the Logan chiropractic alumni at large funded the endowment to support both the facility and students so they could have the best educational experience possible.
The Endowed Fund for Faculty Success will allow faculty to submit requests to the University for educational materials and equipment or professional development opportunities above and beyond what they receive in their budget.
“In the past, it has included anything from microscopes to spinal screening units or other equipment that isn’t always in the college’s budget but would be a great asset for chiropractic students,” Dr. Casey said. “This endowment is a different mechanism to get funds to faculty and students in need.”
Consistent with the past practices of the association,
funding will be awarded to areas of greatest impact to the chiropractic program. Faculty can propose new ideas and additional training for consideration. To request funding, faculty can submit a one-page narrative to the university explaining how certain equipment or experiences will impact them as educators and improve the learning experience for From left: Dr. Clay McDonald, Dr. Sean Casey and Dr. Ralph Barrale their students. In addition to the faculty fund, the Endowed Scholarship will provide funds for eligible chiropractic students—demonstrating academic excellence and a commitment to the chiropractic profession—to further their education. “This generous gift solidifies the former alumni association’s dedication to the future success of the college and allows the association name to live in perpetuity,” said Logan President Clay McDonald, DC (’82), JD, MBA. “I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to the alumni association board, Dr. Casey and Dr. Ralph Barrale for coordinating this important gift to the university.” Faculty and students can begin applying for funds in December 2021, and the first awards will be announced in spring 2022.
