20 – SOUTH BANK
SOUTH BANK
Also known as London’s cultural quarter, South Bank is home to the National Theatre, the Southbank Centre, the Old Vic and the BFI to name just a few – but it is also a favourite family destination, with its tree-lined riverside walkway filled with many cafés, restaurants, bars, green spaces, pop-ups and attractions that has something for everyone. Come and explore this summer, we have lots in store! FAMILY FRIENDLY
ART & THEATRE Standing proudly on the South Bank sits the National Theatre, with a stage which allows for some of the most breath-taking sets you’ll see. Also home to one of London’s oldest theatres, the Old Vic has recently undergone a refurbishment which has restored it to its former glory. Come and explore South Bank’s lesser known art spaces too – House of Vans, located underneath Waterloo Station has a rolling programme of quirky, free exhibitions, Southbank Centre is the largest single-run arts centre in the world and Oxo tower gallery hosts a range of artistic festivals and exhibitions all year round.
OXO TOWER Restaurant, Bar & Brasserie
FOODIE EXPERIENCES Whether you’re looking for a pint by the river, a classy cocktail with amazing terrace views or a pew at a bustling food market, South Bank has the whole shebang. Be surprised by the host of new popups including wood fire pizza and the alluringly named ‘apothecary bar’ along the Thames path. Enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at the Marriott County Hall’s historic library lounge, or sample the brand new menu at sleek and modern Skylon restaurant at Royal Festival Hall, with floor to ceiling windows and fantastical flower decorations.
Needless to say, South Bank is THE family destination with its mix of child-friendly restaurants, world-class attractions and wide riverside walkways with vast green spaces, allowing kids to run free and enjoy themselves, without the stress of the city. Although it may not feel like it, South Bank is right in the heart of central London, within walking distance to Covent Garden and Westminster.

VAUXHALL
Vauxhall is one of London’s coolest Riverside districts, famous as much for its history as it’s buzzing club scene. With many unique events, great places to eat and drink and the Vauxhall Gallery District, Vauxhall is the place to be this summer! Summer things to do As always Vauxhall is buzzing with great events all summer long. July once again sees Vauxhall One’s four free outdoor Summer Screen cinemas return to the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th). The Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens will also play host to UK Black Pride’s ‘Past, Present, Future … Love Happens Here’ themed music festival on 9th July as part of Pride in London 2017. ALBERT EMBANKMENT
Vauxhall Gallery District A century ago Vauxhall was a leading arts-and-craft district, populated by glassblowers, potters and sculptures. Today Vauxhall has become one of London’s hottest new arts destinations thanks to an emerging gallery district led by one of modern art’s biggest names, Damien Hirst. All within walking distance of each other, the Vauxhall Gallery District currently consists of; Damien Hirst’s £25million, 6 Gallery, 37,000sq ft. Newport Street Gallery, Ex-‘Ragged School’ turned contemporary art-space Beaconsfield Gallery (also located on Newport Street), Gasworks Gallery which specialises in fostering budding international artist and Charles Asprey’s, Cabinet Gallery on Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens.

VAUXHALL CITY FARM
FAMILY FRIENDLY Whether you’re a parent, child or young adult don’t miss out on the chance to pet, feed or even ride the ever friendly farm animals at Vauxhall City Farm. Alternatively pop down to Ovalhouse Theatre to be dazzled by the creativity of the youth actors on show.
Pubs & Clubs Catch a drink and mingle with the locals at some of the best pubs around. Vauxhall is home to a number of great gastropubs, including The Black Dog and The Rose that can cater to all your craft beer and pub grub needs. For the late night crowd head to Fire and Lightbox, Vauxhall’s hottest clubs to dance to the best beats and cutting edge music out there.
