Few things are worse than a disengaged workforce but some employee engagement initiatives can be counter-productive. At this event, Javier Bajer will offer fast interventions that inspire action within organisations. Values and mission statements are not enough to bring about behavioural change and motivate your employees to give their very best. Behaviours are outcomes not inputs; they are an expression of people’s beliefs. Beliefs are where the change happens and people do a better job when they believe in what they are doing. Javier will show how to go beyond carrots and sticks, which create “What’s in it for me?” cultures, silos and disengagement. He will show how to nudge old habits into new behaviours by bringing

purpose and profit together and uniting people behind a business they are proud of. About Javier Bajer Javier Bajer is a cultural architect. He has spent the last 20 years helping organisations and cities change old habits. Javier was the founding CEO of The Talent Foundation and a former senior executive at Accenture in London. He now works with a wide range of global organisations, ranging from HSBC to Buckingham Palace. Javier is an active fellow of the RSA, the editor-in-chief for Strategic HR Review, a professor of culture change at St Andrews University and a visiting fellow of the Business School at the University of Surrey. In business the alpha approach is too frequently celebrated over quieter personalities. Shyness, sensitivity and seriousness are often seen as negative traits. But some of our most transformative leaders have been introverts.

At this event, Susan Cain will explore how to embrace our own inner introverts and empower introverted employees. At least a third of us are on the introverted side but leadership teams can be imbalanced with extroverts dominating. Those who sit back and think are overlooked in favour of their louder colleagues. Can you afford to keep underutilising your most important resource – your people? Discover how to unleash the power of quiet and effective leaders with simple steps to ensure every personality type can reach their full potential.

About Susan Cain Susan Cain believes that society dramatically undervalues the talents of introverts, and the creative possibilities that ensue when introverts and extroverts truly respect and understand each other. Susan’s book, QUIET: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, has been translated into 40 languages and is on its fifth year on the New York Times bestseller list. Her TED talk has been viewed over 15 million times, and was named by Bill Gates as one of his all-time favourite talks. Susan co-founded the Quiet Leadership Institute, which helps organisations unlock the power of introverts within their teams.
