Welcome to SS15! Be inspired by THE OUTNET’s pick of the season’s most talked-about trends. Best of all, there’s something to suit every style, from bold monochrome looks to the bohemian seventies trend.

Hyper Florals

Shimmer & Shine

The collections were in full bloom this season, as beautiful botanicals embellished everything from ankle-grazing dresses to mix-and-match separates. Florals feel brand new thanks to oversized petals and pops of colour at Marni, Christopher Kane and Peter Pilotto.

The new season calls for a bit of razzle dazzle, but these are metallics like you’ve never seen before. In a season where grown-up glitter reigns supreme, Alexander Wang and Isabel Marant let the light in with blink-and-you’ll-miss-them sparkles, radiant pastels and glimmering sequins. Work the trend into your daytime wardrobe for style that shakes things up.

Make It Monochrome

That Seventies Show

Nothing beats black and white! A colour combination that never fails to pack a punch, Alexander Wang and 3.1 Phillip Lim made a strong argument for monochrome, with graphic prints, oversized stripes and bold two-tone finishes taking over the runways. Top tip: go head to toe for maximum impact – accessories included!

An abundance of suede, crochet and lace on the runways can only mean one thing – the seventies are back! SS15 sees flower child favourites reimagined with a newfound elegance. Look to Diane von Furstenberg’s neutral hues and Issa’s ever-so-delicate details as a subtle way to work the look.

THE OUTNET is home to over 250 of the world’s most exciting designer brands, as well as Iris & Ink, its own private label. With irresistible prices and new arrivals on site every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, THE OUTNET is the most fashionable fashion outlet. THE OUTNET’s private label, Iris & Ink, launched in 2012 as a range of trend-led essentials. Comprising both stylish staples and statement pieces, each collection is designed by the in-house team to fit seamlessly into your wardrobe. The SS15 collection experiments with proportion, while staying true to its aesthetic – think soft feminine shapes and more directional, tailored pieces. 4

Amanda Wakeley

Amanda Wakeley opened her first design studio and boutique in the heart of London’s Chelsea in 1990. Since then, she has gone on to become the go-to designer for the world’s most stylish women, who love her ‘clean glam’ signature style. Her glamourous evening and cocktail dresses and accessories have been worn on the red carpet by stars including Beyonce, Angelina Jolie and Kate Winslet. amandawakeley.com

For SS15 the Amanda Wakeley woman takes on a cleaner approach to dressing. Like the girls in a Peter Lindbergh photograph…. She is effortlessly chic, confident and conveys a subtle and intriguing masculinity through her styling. Her skirt lengths are longer and her silhouettes are less structured. She maintains an 80’s influence in her wardrobe and continues to favour technical and sportswear inspired fabrics. She chooses easy day pieces with utility detailing in Lux Linen. A pleated wide leg pant becomes

8

the season’s staple. A full length sleeveless coat allows her to create a powerful day look. Culottes in her new longer length become her go-to item. Inspired by graphic sculptures. Organza jacquard in black, white or electric offers graphic sheerness in simple shapes. Jacquard twill provides her with luxury statement pieces. The season’s embellishment offers her graphic beaded patterns on sporty mesh. Strong triangular metal beads create powerful and head turning artworks.

A collaboration between Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, SIBLING, has built a cult following with its witty, anarchic and exuberant approach to design. Everyone from London club kids to Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Deborah Harry have fallen for its spectacularly original knitwear. siblinglondon.com Ronald Dick for The Independent

SS15 collection 1980s New York style captured by iconic photographers Amy Arbus and Maripol inspired SIBLING’s SS15 collection. The SIBLING girl is pretty but tomboyish and just loves getting dressed up. Hand-crocheted and raffia dresses, knitted black rubber bands, tribal prints, polka dot denim, sheer gingham and frills capture the rebellious mood.

Fyodor Golan

Through expressive dialogue FYODOR GOLAN look for purity in shape and integrity of texture. Both coming from a fine art background, the designers infuse an expressive approach with clean geometrical silhouettes and sportswear aesthetics into modern luxury womenswear.

FG image. Manipulating materials through new technology brings to life distinctive textiles and 3D embroideries. Fyodor studied at the Royal Academy of fine Art in Antwerp and Golan graduated from Istituto Marangoni, London. Their combined experience in the industry includes Alexander McQueen, Issey Miyake, Raf Simons and Richard Nicoll. The label’s second season won the Fashion Fringe award and in 2012 was the youngest label to be the focus of the V&A’s “Fashion in Motion” exhibition.

The brand has been featured internationally in key titles including Elle, LOVE, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, Wonderland and WWD, and celebrity fans include J-Lo, Little Dragon, Rita Ora and Robyn. fyodorgolan.com

For SS15 Fyodor Golan present a collection celebrating digital Romanticism. The designers’ muse had an expressive and adolescent spirit, celebrating modernity, finding the romantic in the digital age. The collection explores form and function via intricate folds and pleats that frame geometric silhouettes, embellished with iridescent and neon plastic floral motifs. 90s rave culture influences colours and textures throughout the collection, and satin fabric woven with plastic thread are printed with distorted images of flowers and footballers to showcase vividness and energy. 60s theorist artist Lucio Fontana’s slashed canvases inspired Fyodor and Golan to explore garments from a different perspective, applying silicone finishes and slashing. The American conceptual artist Robert Morris’ “Felt Sculptures” influenced the designers to wrap and drape slashed pieces of late geometric fabrics, allowing for movement.

For his SS15 collection, Jean-Pierre Braganza continued what he does best: elegant and edgy dresses, tailored waistcoats and jackets with his signature complex and nuanced prints. Halston Heritage Roy Halston Frowick was the creator of luxury American fashion. Founded in the 1960s, the HALSTON label took the industry by storm, using his signature materials of jersey, cashmere, and suede to reinvent the jumpsuit, the shirtdress and the classic caftan. Once dubbed “the premier fashion designer in America” by Newsweek, Halston was synonymous with the 1970s and the era of Studio 54. His strong connection to pop culture was evident by his friends and clients, which included Andy Warhol, Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Taylor and Anjelica Huston. Halston launched its Heritage brand in 2009 giving signature silhouettes a contemporary spin. Worn by the likes of Hilary Rhoda, Nicola Roberts, Emmy Rossum and Fergie, the label’s draped one-shoulder gowns, fluid jumpsuits and tuxedo tailoring give a Studio 54-inspired take on modern glamour. halston.com

The SS15 HALSTON HERITAGE Collection pays homage to the collaborative spirit of Roy Halston Frowick. As a visionary pioneer of collaborations between art and fashion, Halston created iconic partnerships with various artists including Elsa Peretti, Andy Warhol and Victor Hugo.

Inspired by the early 1970s pairing between HALSTON and the iconic American textile house, Up Tied Studios, cool dip dyes, abstract organic prints and batik stripes are seen throughout the collection. The original Elsa Peretti buckle is reinterpreted through built-in hardware elements intertwined into tops and dresses and highlighting necklines and cut-out details. Refined silhouettes and clean lines embody the resurgence of the minimalist ideal, while novel strap details and asymmetrical slits give them a modern edge. Crisp cottons are paired with sheer cashmere, while breezy silks are grounded by supple suede. Icy hues of sorbet pink, 16

Feeling rebellious? Now it’s time for pastels to rebel. Introducing Maybelline New York’s SS15 collection Rebel Bouquet; fresh-picked pastels with a bright kick that make your lips and nails come alive while giving off just a hint of attitude.

ADORNMENT As seen at PPQ and Ones to Watch To add a slice of glamour to simple chic locks this SS15 both colour and glitter played their parts in adorning the hair. At PPQ the concept of the ‘modern tiara’ was born using glitter soaked in gel and then painted on to either side of sleekly parted tresses. At Ones to Watch cleverly created pieces of stark white colour were placed in the hair at the centre of the forehead adding a contrast to the simply textured ponytails. 17
