The LTSO opens its 2014-2015 season with a performance of Mendelssohn’s “Reformation” Symphony; its last movement is based on Martin Luther’s famous hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” The holy theme continues with Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D minor” and Debussy’s “The Sunken Cathedral.” The performance offers a counter-point with highlights from “Wicked,” the Stephen Schwartz Broadway musical.
