2017-2018 Long Beach Symphony Season Brochure

A NEW ERA IS ABOUT TO BEGIN!

THE TIME HAS COME! Beginning this October, we invite you to experience a six-concert series as a Classical Series subscriber with concerts all led and programmed by our new Music Director. After a two-year national search of some of the country’s most talented conductors, our symphony community unanimously chose Maestro Eckart Preu to lead Long Beach Symphony as our 7th Music Director in 83 years. His dynamic style on stage, his immense talent as an artist, and his quiet yet disciplined attention to nuance were obvious from the moment we met. We expect great things from Long Beach Symphony under the baton of Maestro Preu in the coming years. The Symphony also celebrates as a community through its unique series of POPS! concerts. Short for ‘popular’ – our POPS! concerts take place in the Long Beach Arena, where over 4,000 people eat, drink, and dance to our orchestra five times a year. We hope you will join us as a subscriber to either or both of our series and become a new member of our thriving music community.

MEET OUR NEW MAESTRO, ECKART PREU

What does it mean to be part of a thriving music community? As a symphony orchestra, we build community through sharing, supporting, performing, and nurturing live, orchestral music throughout the year. We also thrive by sharing important milestones in the development of our sound, our voice, and our presence in Southern California.
