YOUNGEST BLACK BELT Teenager becomes Youngest Judo Black Belt in the country

In an extraordinary feat, Ruby Plane, a 15-year-old student from Stocksbridge High School, clinched the title of the youngest Judo black belt in the country. The achievement was realised during a dan grading event in South Shields, on Sunday, November 26th where Ruby successfully accumulated the final points required for this prestigious milestone, marking her accomplishment at the age of 15 years and 1 day. A proud member of the Miramar Judo Club in Rotherham, Ruby was bestowed with her black belt by the club's senior coach, Andy Parton, in a special presentation held during a

year 10 assembly at Stocksbridge High School. The International Judo Federation, describing the black belt as possessing a mysterious dimension that transforms from a childhood dream into an attained goal through dedication and hard work, emphasizes the significance of such an accomplishment in the realm of Judo. Ruby's Judo club, Miramar, expressed their admiration for her dedication, stating, “Ruby has worked for years towards this. She seldom misses a session and she trains with focus and intensity. Nobody has ever deserved a black belt more. To have

earned it at such a young age is unprecedented, and is a great credit to her, parents Alicia and Barry, and of course Andy her coach. We're all so proud of you Ruby, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for you.” Phil Banton, the Head of PE at Stocksbridge High School, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We are really proud of Ruby’s achievement, and it was a pleasure to see it recognised with her coach in the school assembly.” Ruby's exceptional accomplishment serves as an inspiration and a testament to the remarkable talent within the local community.
