Hillsborough burglar jailed

A 30-YEAR-OLD Hillsborough man is starting a three-year prison sentence after being convicted of burglary.

Dominic Ransom, of Leppings Lane, appeared before Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday November 21.

He pleaded guilty to two burglaries and was sentenced to three years in prison.

On August 7 of this year, Ransom broke into a house on Wadsley Lane in Sheffield, stealing watches, wallets and an amount of cash.

On August 13, he broke into a second house, this time on Stanwood Crescent in Sheffield, stealing laptops and a wallet.

Investigations led officers to Ransom’s home on September 6 where he was found hiding in a kitchen cupboard. He was subsequently arrested.

Investigating Officer PC David Stacey said:

We are pleased with the sentence that Ransom has received; burglary can have a long-term impact on victims, especially in cases like these where the homeowner witnessed Ransom in action."

Our officers worked hard to track Ransom down and I hope the community are reassured by his sentence.”
