Christmas Day alone?
DO you know someone who will be spending Christmas day alone? Perhaps it’s you? The Meeting Place, a new initiative in Stocksbridge, has bought together over 20 volunteers from around town to put on a ‘Christmas Day Together’ event at Christ Church Community Hall.
Guests are welcome to come and join us from 11.30am till 4pm where they can enjoy good company, a great atmosphere, fun games and activities and plenty of festive food, including a two course Christmas dinner at 1pm. For those of you who prefer to relax after they have eaten there will be a comfortable space provided to watch a film in the afternoon. For all this we just ask for a small donation of £3 to help contribute to our costs.
From experience we understand that for all kinds of reasons it is easy for people of all ages to find themselves alone on days like these when others are busy occupied with their families. This event wants to make sure that if a person would rather not be alone they can come meet others and celebrate the day together. All ages are very welcome and are encouraged, this includes single parents who are alone with their children. If you are not alone this Christmas but know of somebody that will be, please let them know about this event and how to contact us.
We are looking at catering for up to 50 people, there are still places available so if you would like to enquire or book a place for yourself or someone you know, please ring The Meeting Place coordinator, Sarah on 07800923192 or email her via SCcoordinator@outlook.com.
This should be a great day, we hope you can come along and be a part of it.
