Hillsborough remembers 30 years on
THE annual memorial service commemorating the Hillsborough disaster took place on Monday April 15 at 2.55pm.
The service marked the 30th anniversary of the disaster in which 96 men, women and children lost their lives attending the FA Cup semi final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in 1989.
The permanent memorial on Parkside Road adjacent to the club’s main entrance hosted the service, which included a minute’s silence and prayers for those who died.
SWFC Chairman Dejphon Chansiri laid a wreath on behalf of Sheffield Wednesday FC.
A statement read: “Everyone at the club would like to express ongoing sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives and the wider Liverpool community affected so deeply by the events of 1989.”
