£25m development proposed for site opposite Hillsborough Stadium

APPROVAL has been recommended for a £25m redevelopment of a site opposite Hillsborough Stadium, currently used as a car park on Sheffield Wednesday match days.

Jaguar Estates and Bridges Fund Management submitted plans for the former Kennings Truck Centre, which closed in the mid-1980s, earlier in the year.

The proposed scheme will see the addition of three retail units, eight storage and distribution units, two drive-through restaurants and a vehicle maintenance and repair unit.

Up to 250 jobs could be created if it is approved.

Sheffield City Council’s Planning and Highways Committee will make a decision on November 19 although an officer’s report recommends that consent is granted, subject to some conditions.
