Stocksbridge Golf Club continues under several key restrictions
GIVEN the difficult circumstances for many sporting clubs across the country, Stocksbridge Golf Club has managed to function with some clear restrictions.
Whilst the government guidance doesn’t restrict outdoor activity for people who are well and not at high risk from Covid-19, the course will remain open to members and visitors. Any changes to this status will be issued to members and posted on the club website and exterior notice board.
The summary of golfing action is as follows. The Dragons Section got back into action on March 18 and Les Wright (13) was the overall winner of the latest round of their Winter Cup League. Les won convincingly with 42 points in the stableford format. Martin Bradwell (17) was second with 38 points and Sandy Murphy was third with 37 points.
Sandy had a second good round on Saturday March 21, winning the seventh round of the Club Winter Cup. Sandy’s winning total of 44 points put him clear of the field by three points. Cliff James (21) came in second with 41 points that keeps him in contention Winter Cup League.
Three players then came in with 38 points, though Andrew Finney (5) took third place with a better back nine. Andrew’s round included an impressive 14 pars and a single birdie. Overall Winter Cup League leader, Richard Hastings, had by his standards, a below par round coming in with 32 points. But his overall lead remains dominant.
Sunday March 22 saw a Pro’s Prize competition with Mick Hulbert (12) winning the stableford format with 40 points. Trevor Moseley (12) came in second with 39 points and then a certain relative of Mick, Ian Hulbert (14) came in third with 36 points.
