Speedway star tests positive

NEW Sheffield Tigers speedway signing Nicki Pedersen has tested positive for the coronavirus after suffering mild symptoms.

The triple world champion was in the UK a fortnight ago for the Tru Plant Tigers media and team bonding sessions before travelling home to Denmark.

He took a test at Kolding Hospital, which confirmed he had Covid-19.

He insists he is recovering, although he fears partner Anna Natascha Öhlin Hoe is displaying symptoms of the virus, along with her daughter Liva. Pedersen has not had contact with his children Mikkeline and Mikkel since falling ill.

The 42-year-old is relieved his symptoms have been fairly mild. In a post on his official Instagram account, he said: “It mostly feels like a regular flu, and I haven’t had any breathing problems.

“I started to cough, and then I got a headache while getting very tired and having pain in my body. After that, I had a day with diarrhoea and a few days with mild fever. Now I feel better and I think I’m over the worst.”

Sheffield Speedway would like to wish Nicki and everyone affected by Covid-19 a speedy recovery.
